Coronation

Five hours later Damien could be seen making his way through the temple halls alongside the man who previously escorted him to see the head. By now he had learned the name of the man which was Matt.

Earlier when he had been talking to the head and the information suddenly appeared Damien had learned a lot from it, such as his job or role as a temple member which was the right hand of the head.

He was pretty much tasked with everything you would not want to do unless required like paperwork or talking to important figures when the head was not “available.” Luckily, Damien had no responsibilities today except the coronation and the celebration afterward.

At this point, he was just hoping more information would appear once he laid eyes on the people he would meet at the two events. Currently, he and Matt were headed to the room where the coronation was to be held.

“How do you feel about today Matt?” Damien asked mostly because he was bored, during the last few hours he had just been waiting around with nothing to do, although he did try to call out to the system and it did show up but the abilities it was displaying were that of this body.

The abilities themselves were nothing extraordinary, most of them were pretty average the only thing that Damien was pleasantly surprised about was how skilled Sokai was at space manipulation. He had a good four to five skills related to space.

At that moment Matt replied snapping Damien out of his thoughts, “If I'm being honest my lord I'm quite nervous… the current head has been ruling for a very long time, longer than I can imagine so for his son to take up the mantle is quite the undertaking. I just hope everything goes well and the young head can handle the responsibilities to come.” Matt responded with a somewhat doubtful look as if he was unsure if the young head could stand up to the task.

“It should be fine Matt, the head would not have decided to hand over his position if he felt his son was not ready. Based on what I know about the man he is not one to half-ass things so ease your worries, the young head is also extremely bright and was taught by his father. The start might be a bit bumpy but once he gets used to things I'm sure he will be fine.”

“Your words do make sense, I just have a bad feeling for some reason that something is going to go horrible today, as for why I feel this way I don’t know I've always had a sort of sixth sense about these things I’m just hoping its wrong.”

This time Damien did not respond and just left the man to his worries, I mean Matt was not wrong, something bad was going to happen.

Finally arriving at the room where the coronation was to be held Damien looked around and saw hundreds of tables to allow all of the guests a seat for watching the event, in the center of the room sat a massive throne where the head would be sitting.

The way it was going to happen was the head would stand up and take a crown from Damien who would be holding it off to the side, upon taking the crown he would call his son forward and make him swear some words of promise to the temple he would then crown the young head and move out the way allowing him to sit in the throne he was just in.

During this time if anyone had any objections they could raise them but that was doubtful to happen… although based on what the head told him earlier someone was going to cause trouble, as to how they would go about it Damien did not know.

It took another two hours or so for the room to be fully set up and decorated and by now guests of all kinds were starting to arrive and take their seats. Damien saw tens of people all of the same strength as the head in the room as well, each giving off a subtle pressure that kept those weaker than them at a distance.

Not even 15 minutes had gone by and the room was now full with all three thousand guests having shown up, seeing that everyone was here the head spoke out loud his voice making the temple rumble as it boomed through the coronation room.

“Today we gather for a monumental event, the day my son takes up the mantle and replaces me as the head of this grand temple. I can’t say how proud I am as a father to be able to hand over my work to his hands knowing that he is fully ready to undertake the responsibility that is managing an organization such as this.”

Upon stopping his words Damien knew that was his queue to take out the crown and display it for everyone to see causing some to gasp in awe at the object which was pitch black and plated with what he assumed was some type of gemstone.

If he was being honest this whole thing seemed overly dramatic and unnecessary and if it were not for the fact he did not want to be exposed or possibly killed he honestly felt he would burst out laughing at this soap opera.

Once he displayed the crown the head spoke once more, “Artuher, my son if you would please make your way up to me.”

From below the throne a young man could be seen standing up, he was a spitting image of his father to the point you might think they were twins if it was not for the head's older appearance. Making his way up to his father the young head had a slight look of nervousness that some keener individuals had been able to make out.

Upon standing in front of the head Artuher bowed and kept the position waiting for his father to speak. “Artuher, do you swear to protect this temple and its people until the day you step down from this throne?” The head spoke aloud his face adorned a look of utmost seriousness.

“I Arthur, son of Kingston Swear that as long as I sit upon this throne protect the temple and its people.”

“Do you swear to not allow those who should not to attain our temple power?”

Upon hearing this question the young head had a look of confusion on his face for a split second but quickly recovered and responded.

“I swear to not allow those who should not attain our power to do so”

This continued for a bit longer and at this point, Damien had long spaced out and was waiting for his cue to hand the crown to the head. Luckily it did not take much longer and he once more heard the booming voice speak.

“In that case then I Kingston, the first leader and head of our sacred temple will bestow my son Artuher with the position of head. If there are any who object to this please speak now or forever withhold your peace.”

Scanning the room with a piercing gaze the head waited for a good few minutes but to his surprise,e no one spoke up, still, he did not ease his nerves and was ready for anything that could happen.

Looking over at his right hand Sokai he nodded at him, handing the crown over to the head Damien bowed once more before focusing his attention on the young head who upon seeing his father holding the crown went down on one knee and lowered his head slightly.

With a smile, the head held the crown with both hands and went to put it on his son's head but right as the crown was about to be lowered a noise was heard from within the crowd.

“Cough, cough, oh sorry about that I just wanted to say something before we go through with this.”

Narrowing his eyes the head motioned for the man to speak, with a beaming smile the man stood up and did something no one expected… he took out a sword that was covered in what Damien thought looked like the wind element.

“Based on your temple’s rules any of its members has the right to challenge the young head for his position to inherit the throne with that in mind I would like to try my luck, what do you say Kingston?”

"You had your chance to do this for years; it's already too late to challenge my son for his position. Now, please take your seat so we can finish the ceremony."

Upon hearing those words, the man appeared saddened and let out a loud sigh. "I guess we're going to have to do this the hard way."

Immediately after he spoke, hundreds of people in the crowd stood up, glaring at the leader with vicious grins. Every one of them was holding a sword similar to the one the man had spoken with, and upon closer inspection, their swords bore a symbol that made the leader yell out in anger.

“BLOODLESS!”
