Chapter 10 : Forsaken

“Inside my journal, I have left some instructions.” Vartan's voice echoed throughout Agni’s mind as he walked through the blizzard. “ Give them to Calisto. He will know what to do with them.”

The storm's intense winds and snow had not slowed down. Agni relentlessly walked against the winds.

I know she’s close. I know she is... She has to be… Agni thought to himself.

Keep moving forward… Like Mother said, “Get Back up.”

Don’t think about anything else. Don’t think about…

Agni’s eyes began to swell with tears. He wiped them away and continued walking forward.

Idiot, idiot. Why are you doing this to yourself? Keep going.

He began to feel frustrated as the winds only grew in strength. The cold bristled against his skin.

He fell to his knees, unable to go any further.

I can’t do this. Not alone. He dropped to the ground, sobbing.

You were wrong about me, Vartan. I can’t do this alone. I am not strong enough.

Mother? Is someone out there? Somebody, please. Help me.

I can’t.

The wind intensified. Despite the coldness of the snow covering him, He lay there.

Suddenly, the wind died down. Agni looked up in confusion.

His surroundings changed to the dock he was so familiar with. The one he spent countless days on with his mother.

There was no blizzard in sight. Everything seemed normal, as it would during a breezy spring day. The wind now caressed his face and softly flowed through his hair.

His mother sat at the end of the dock, facing the lake.

Agni took a deep breath as he woke up. He got up and brushed the snow off his armor. The storm was gone, and only a light snow flurry fell from the sky.

He quietly gathered all his belongings that had fallen into the snow. While picking up his sword, he began to have flashbacks of his first vision. The trees, mountains, and the landscape. All of this he had seen before.

The intense snow had previously made the towering mountain ahead impossible to see, but now it was completely visible.

He had seen this place before.

Standing before him was the mountain he had seen in his first dream. It was precisely the same, with a cave entrance in front of it. All this time, he had been so close to it. He unsheathed his sword and grasped the handle. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

Fire emanated through his hands and into the sword. The core began to glow rapidly, erupting into a burst of flame.

Agni then opened his eyes, revealing a light flame that settled out. He began to walk into the entrance of the cavern.
