I took a few extra minutes to get ready, I wore my favorite red dress. It makes strawberry blonde curls more noticeable and my mother's green eyes make me look so much like my mother. I look like my mother in every way, I'm just nothing like my mother. I decided to call my friend up on the hologram phone "Hey girl, How is the party going? Sorry I couldn't come".

"It's okay, It's probably going to be all my parents' friends and colleagues from companies," I say.

I was going to tell her about the new caretaker android, but that would be stupid to act like she might not have the emotions or feelings we have. Grandpa thought me better than that, so he also thought me to be better than his son.

"Hello, Earth to Tori, I repeat Earth to Tori" I shook off where my mind was going.

"I'm here, I was just lost in my thoughts for a moment," I say honestly.

"Must have been one hell of an echo, I think I can still hear it from here" Anne says jokingly.

"Real funny Haha, how do I look anyways I have to impress the masses," I say with a smirk.

She looked me over and around me in a hologram form "Pretty good to me, Why can't you just be yourself".

"You know why, they expect me to take over the company when Dad stands down," I say tired already.

"I know you wanna be like your Grandpa, can't you still be an engineer," Anne says kind of confused.

"Only in secret from my parents," I said knowing it was true.

I was quiet for a moment, it was when Anne said "Stop thinking so hard".

"Go to my grandpa's house in a week, I have someone for you to meet," I say to her.

Then we said our goodbyes and I went down to the party. That was when my mother found me and reintroduced me to some of her well-known friends. Then to the head of Jameson Corp, The creators of holographic technology advancements we have now.

"It's good to meet you again," I say.

"Well I got to mingle with others at the party," I say just wanting to get away.

I stay close enough for over hearing everything between mom and him.

"when can I have her?" he says.

"Be patient she will be ready as soon as she is in charge" mom says.

I do leave for a while and try to keep a smile on my face until the androids are escorting the partygoers to drive them home safely. Mom relaxes as the last person leaves, and then Mom goes to get some wine like she hasn't had enough that night. She seemed drunk right now and I helped her go to her room honestly so she didn't hurt herself. I help her get out of her heels and lay her in bed to get some rest for the night. I went to my room after and felt so exhausted from the people interactions, so I sat at my desk for a moment before bed.

Kick off my heels and take off my dress to put my comfy clothes on, so I can handle sleeping in bed.

Then a week went by and I pulled up in my Grandpa's driveway, I got out to greet Anne with Frank. That is my Grandpa's caretaker and friend, he is an android that seems so human. Then I introduced Sophia to them and she came out of the car as if on cue, she seemed unsure of this.

Anne leans in quietly and says "Is she a new friend or more?".

Frank was even curious about it, then Grandpa came out and told us to come in as he held himself up with a cane. I try to get Sophia to come with us and she does but looks like she is confused about why we are here. We then get into the workshop office he has, he always works on new things in here and Grandpa brings out a rectangle box. It seems special, but I waste no time and open it quickly like it's still my birthday. It was an attachable android arm and I was so excited about it.

So Anne is helping me to remove mine and lock the new one into its place. It has some tattoos, and I turned it to look at the image, it is a Phoenix with feathers fluttering. I thank my Grandpa and it seems Sophia is in shock now, so I explain my removable limb.

"I was in a car crash, so I have some things that make me odd," I say still a secret to hide.

Sophia is still standing and not speaking at all, so it seems something is wrong with her. So I walked over to her and touched her shoulder, She looked at me and then seemed to register something.

"What is up here? Is this a test?" Sophia says.

"Not really, I just thought you could get more open with me," I say. "I'm a friend, not an enemy".

I was worried she wouldn't believe me, so I got quiet to let her think. Anne was going to say something, so I give her a look saying no joking right now. She looked tight lipped then, so we all wait for her to accept us and I very hope to be friends with her.

"Are you all actually nice? I hope it's not a trap" Sophia says.
