Chapter 5

What?" she asked defensively.

"Nothing," he replied, grinning. He rose from the couch and offered his hand to her. "Do you want to go out to eat?" He asked her.

"Sure," she replied, taking his hand and pulling herself up off the couch and following him downstairs. She followed him into the kitchen and watched silently as he opened up a drawer and reached in for two slices of pizza. She couldn't help but laugh.

"You're such a dork," she muttered as she walked up behind him, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"You love it."

"I'm starting to."

She kissed the side of his neck. He turned his head a bit, making direct eye contact with her.

"You're such a sap," Mina whispered teasingly. He laughed quietly.

"Only for you," he replied. She pouted. "What?"

"You're such an idiot."

"I can assure you that I am not."

She rolled her eyes. "Whatever helps you sleep at night, big guy," she snickered.

"Hey," he huffed, glaring playfully at her, "you better take that back or I swear to god—"

The doorbell rang cutting him short. "That must be my dad." Ankoku stepped away from her. "Be right back."

As he walked toward the front door, he heard footsteps coming from behind. When he opened the door he was greeted by his father and brother.

"Well look who finally decided to join us after all these years," Shouto remarked sarcastically.

"Shut up." Ankoku crossed his arms and glared at his older brother.

"Where did you go last night, kiddo?" Hanta asked.

"To talk to Mina," he replied shortly.

"And you didn't invite us along? Did you think we wanted to sit at home alone all night while you were hanging out with girl who probably has some sort of secret crush on you?" Shouto asked angrily. "Who knows how long the two of you could've been getting all lovey dovey without us knowing about it?"

Ankoku frowned at him and shook his head. "I don't care. If Mina wants me to hang out with her today, I am definitely going to hang out with her today."

"You're hopeless," Shouto sighed in defeat. He raised his voice a little, turning to face his younger brother, "don't you ever think of us again, alright? I don't give a fuck whether she loves you or not, but I'd prefer not to spend hours alone watching those stupid romantic comedies."

"Yeah whatever, asshole," Ankoku replied coldly, glaring daggers at his brother. Shouto smirked.

Hanta coughed slightly. "So then where is your girlfriend, kiddo?"

"She's waiting outside," he said bluntly.

"Waiting for?" Shouto asked curiously. "Who for?"

"Me of course," Ankoku said. Shouto and Hanta looked at him dumbfounded.

"Come again?" Shouto replied.

"Didn't you hear me? I said she's waiting for me outside. Come with me if you want."

"Are you serious?!?" Hanta exclaimed incredulously. "We came here just because we were curious about where you guys went last night!"

"Yeah right," Ankoku scoffed sarcastically. "Why would I make up lies?"

"You're unbelievable! You knew that we were coming!" Shouto yelled angrily at him.

"Did I?"

"No, you didn't!"

"Ok," Ankoku sighed, raising his hands helplessly in surrender. "I admit that I lied. But only to protect myself. What do you think I am, a monster?"

"Yes, but you're still a brat," Hanta commented angrily. "I guess if you' vere gonna do this, we'll come along, too."

"Great, because we're going now." Ankoku replied.

"Not without your girlfriend," Shouto snapped angrily.

"Oh really?" he growled. Then let me introduce her to everyone," he said mockingly.

Shouto narrowed his eyes at him and tried to step forward, but was stopped when Ankoku blocked his path.

"Or what?" Ankoku challenged him challengingly.

"Fine. I'll meet her later. Now let me past."

"Like hell I will."

"Why not? Just so you know, I never lose a fight," Shouto told him proudly.

"But you haven't even fought yet!" Ankoku pointed out as he took a step forward himself.

"And you haven't won either."

"Oh, no? Why don't you try me? Or maybe I should show you who's stronger…"

"You wish," Shouto scoffed arrogantly.

Before the fight could continue, Ankoku felt a pair of soft, warm fingers wrapping themselves around his neck.

"Enough," said a familiar voice from behind him. He slowly turned around and found himself facing Mina. "Don't embarrass yourself."

He gulped down nervously and quickly released Shouto, stepping aside so that Mina could walk past them.

Shouto turned around and walked over to the desk. His expression became blank once again. "You can see her whenever you want. It's not my problem anymore."

He left the room without another word, leaving Ankoku and Mina in complete silence.
