Kai received the report from the Shadow Berserk Thegn.
He broke the seal…
He began reading…
He wasn’t pleased…
…DNA and RNA tests concluded that the assassin’s skin was infused with what the lab has named Oblivion Shard, which enabled her to break her bonds through super heating of her skin and trigger the felo-de-se device. The Meliora Division scientists have begun investigative procedures to reverse-engineer this technology for Lux Orbis use. Additionally, there is no record of her in our databases.
The deep-iris scan revealed nothing of importance. The assassin found a way to eradicate her embedded memories either before she carried out her mission, or as an effect of the felo-de-se device. The only thing of note is a flickering image of an individual wearing a suit with the Nova Gnosis emblem emblazoned on it. Our AI identification systems have not identified this individual yet.
I questioned the two men personally who brought the assassin to my chamber for questioning; after many hours of subjugating them to my methods, I can attest that these men did not knowingly aid the assassin. They simply failed in their duties from the excitement. I will see to it that they are punished accordingly, Consul.
While Kai was excited at the thought of this captured technology, he was angry that two Spartan Berserks failed in their duties so drastically. He opened the hologram of X’s deep-iris scan. It was a very brief flicker, but Kai endeared every detail of the woman to memory; she was tall with long legs, dark-brown eyes, dark skin, and wearing the generic black and gray robes of Nova Gnosis; she did not look familiar. This was the person who gave X her mission. Kai knew it.

Kai put the hologram aside. He thought about meeting with Stratego Fleury about this. He knew he could trust her. He personally put her in the position of Stratego and entrusted her with guiding the Odina Replicant project. Lux Orbis had to get
Odina’s secrets away from her; even after all Odina had done for Kai, he knew what her endgame was.
Kai walked out to the balcony. Night had settled on Lagos Pyrἰnas with a full moon shining down. The fifth level of the Pyrἰnas was the most beautiful; Kai looked up at the stars that appeared so close, he could touch them. He identified the general location of Proxima Borealis and glowered at it. He just wanted this war with the clones to be over so he could lead humanity to other planets and colonize them. He took a deep breath of the night air and exhaled.
Going back inside, he sat at his desk. He looked over some official reports that didn’t seem too serious, so he left them for tomorrow. He took out his journal and began writing in his ‘Consul Legacy Book’, as he had unofficially named it. He compiled his thoughts and continued where he left off.
…descendant of the warrior who nearly defeated Burton Izcir and his clones at the Battle of Lồfzenbrook before they spread their virus across the Earth, Zavyr Paxt.
Odina gave me food and water and began telling me the history of the Clone Uprisings so I could make sense of the images rambling through my mind. I was amazed at her revelations. My resolve was hardened to defeat the clones at all costs. I told Odina I would do whatever was required of me, and I set out to spread her message and recruit humanity to her cause with the help of the Susurrus. We had the foundation of advanced technologies in our collective memory now, and we formed the Continental Pillars, assigning trusted deputies to each.
Kai put his pen down. He couldn’t think straight anymore from exhaustion, even with the help of the Susurrus. Kai sent a message to Director Luther, Stratego Fleury’s proxy; he wanted to meet with Fleury tomorrow.
They had much to discuss.
