My name is Samuel Willus, friends call me Sam, age 42 as of this recording
The date, in Earth time, at the time of this recording is March 2nd, 2152, approximately 3 months after the New World memorial service.
If anyone finds this, you are now authorized by the 7th Power to return this information to the plane 2157 planet Earth.
Please, tell my daughter that I love her.
The day started like routine. Wake up, go shave, get dressed, leave to go to the office. My office is located downtown in the City, and is open to the public for most of the hours in a day.
On the way to the office, I stop for some coffee at the Spacebucks. the cashier, named Carrie, took my order as soon as she saw me. Black Roast, with a slightly overdone bagel on the side.
When I got to the building, I saw the neighbor walk in. She was late, as she normally is inside the building 30 minutes before I even wake up. I try avoiding her anyways because she thinks I do nothing inside my office; which is untrue, I barely even use the room when I have a case.
Unfortunately it was not my day.
"Hey, Lazybones. Is that bagel for me, or are you feeding the birds" she said as she walked towards me
"No, and no. Also get outta my way Hannah, I'm not in the mood"
"You're always not in the mood, freeloader. Anyways, do you have a coin on you, I'm just a little short for the fruit snack in the vending machine." she said, folding her hands in front of her chest.
"Hannah, you do realize that you could just raid the janitor's closet for the box."
"But that's no funnnnn" she pouted stomping her feet as she marched away, as usual.
Hannah was a special character, in my opinion. she wasn't fat, but neither was she thin; she had meat on her bones, but not enough to make her look bad. She had a plump cheerful face, and an attitude that backed it up.
This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.
Hannah had lost her parents to certain circumstances; one was kidnapped by a mob boss that was visiting her hometown, while the other disappeared shortly afterwards, accompanied with approximately 25 million and the town's power core.
How do I know all of this? It's my job to know everything that's going on in this town and the surrounding areas up to 100 miles, or 160 km. And when I say everything, I mean Everything.
I know who likes to go jogging, who burns their spouse's toash after they catch them taking cookies, I know who beats their dog. I even know who had sex with whom.
Though this seems a bit much, it's all part of my job. It literally is in my contract to know these things.
The reason is the girl who lives in the office next door. the girl whose parents left her with nothing. the girl who unknowingly killed an entire town out of grief.
So that's why I deal with the nuisance that is Hannah. for the reason of keeping her sane, and this town alive.
However, I still am a private eye, and as I said before, that day was not routine.
Just before the lunch hour my door was opened; a 21st century wooden door, an antique if you will, from a less civilized age. The hallway light streamed into the dark room, and a man walked into the room asking
"Are you the Private eye, Sam Willus?"
"I am, what can I do for you?"
The man walked further into my office, taking off his fedora and tossing it lightly onto the coat stand that stood next to the door.
"I have a problem I need help solving"
"Don't we all have problems Mr...?"
"The names Lock, Joseph Lock. and my problem is no petty matter"
Joseph M. Lock. world renowned billionaire and business owner. He had investments and patents in almost every area of business. His most prominent businesses, Chemical and Health.
"You see Mr. Willus, one of my offices was broken into about two weeks ago. Fortunately almost nothing was stolen. The only thing that was missing were blueprints to warehouses and labs."
As he talked, he walked and sat in the visitor's chair across from my desk.
"This seems more like a police problem."
Lock chuckled at the mention of police
"those corrupt bastards would use that as an excuse to 'take custody' of my research. I am currently leading the research trend."
Lock leaned in
"About a week after the blueprints were stolen, one of the warehouses was broken into. approximately half of the more essential items there were gone in an hour. Then, just last night, another warehouse was broken into. However this time they took a single item."
"That doesn't sound..."
"too bad, right" Lock interrupted
"The thing was, the item that was stolen weighted 46 tons, it was also heavily repellent to all other metals. and the whole thing was gone, poof, vanished. No traces of heavy machinery at work, nor a truck to carry it away. This is the same with both instances"
Lock gestured in the air, adding a little flourish to his statement.
"So you lost blueprints, half of a warehouse's stock, and 46 tons of substance, which I am assuming is metal in nature"
Lock nodded
"What do you want me to do? depending on the answer determines the price"
"What I want Mr. Willus, is for you to find the people who did this, track them down, and eliminate them from this life in the most cruel and inhumane manner you can think of."
