For both the Future and the Past...

“Hey Mom, I thought that you would’ve showed up earlier, considering how much he still means to you.”

“Sally, you do know I’m swamped with cases at the firm at the moment. Hundreds of complaints about ‘I patented it first’ or ‘They stole my idea’. Seriously, the nerves of some people. You know at times I wish I had your father’s guts and told them what I really think about their ideas.”

“I know mom, you forced me to intern that one time. Worst employment of my life, I don’t know how you stand it.”

My mother, Elinore Rosemary Herb, formally Elinore Rosemary Willus, is the owner of a hugely successful law firm. Winning 79% of their cases, which number in the hundreds. She started working for another firm until she decided to freelance after the divorce. During the following 5 years, she got around 80 to 100 cases… and she won all but one of them. The only reason she lost was due to her inability to show up due to having fainted on the floor because of fatigue.

After that she started the firm, taking fresh and experienced lawyers. It wasn’t until I graduated from college that she no longer took cases.

It was also on that day that thousands of lawyers wept for joy at the prospect of not having to face the “Devil Lawyer”.

There are public recordings of my mother’s cases, and she was insanely good. Once the opposition requested if the anti-psionic wave emitter be turned on, just to stop her supposed ability. Shockingly, She got even better. The person who requested the machine be used had to stop being a lawyer in the state because of how hard he was beaten.

How Dad got her to love him is a mystery that I will probably never know.

“Aw sweetie, let me make it up for you. I know I’m open this coming saturday. Why don’t we meet at the old tavern and catch up for the past years. One topic could be, when are you planning on getting married?”

“Mom, you do remember I promised that both you and dad have to approve the candidate. So far of all the people I meet, only one of you would not agree, and it’s not dad.”

“Honey, I just don’t want you to be hurt by this cruel world. You know I will always support you.”

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

“Thanks mom, but I think we shouldn’t talk about this in front of dad.”

“Speaking of which, how is the big lard head?”

“Doctor said they don’t know what's wrong with him, then he went on to compliment dad’s fitness.”

“And?”

“Said he could be b*tm*n.”

“Oh, did he now.”

“Yes mom, the doctor said that.”

“And where is this doctor”

Mom’s eyes started having a strange glint, her voice slowly became more and more menacing.

“Mom, he’s a doctor”

“And I’m the best lawyer the world has ever seen.”

“Former lawyer, you don’t take cases any more.”

“Bah, whatever. I don’t know where you lost your sense of humor. You know I won’t do anything permanent.”

“Mom, you're not helping with your case.”

“Oh, so this is a case now, ok. So I’m the defendant in this debate.”

My mother has a sinister aura radiating off her. I swear her hair is starting to rise.

“MOM! This is a hospital, not a court of law. Also you’re retired, so stop that before you get kicked out for waking up the babies in the maternity ward.”

Edward and Son’s hospital, a high class institute built by Edward J. Edward for his son Dr. Edward G. Edward Jr. to perform affordable care to all classes. At least it did until the higher class people realized that the hospital was worth the investment.

It is currently owned by Dr. Edward K. Edward the Fifth, who already has a capable successor to the family business, Dr. Edward von Edward the Sixth.

The maternity ward is a floor down… on the other side of the hospital.

Upon hearing that she could wake up the babies she had a shocked face that said ‘I didn’t know!’

She then proceeded to fall on her knees and start pounding the ground with her fists.

The thing about mother is she adores babies. I can’t even believe the amount of photos my mother took of me when I was a baby, and she scrapbooked all of them. There are ten volumes of baby pictures in the library.

“Mother get off the floor, there are plenty of chairs.”

“I can’t believe I almost woke up the adorable babies.”

“We can go see the babies later, after you properly say hi to dad.”

“WHAT YOUR DAD’S IN THE HOSPITAL!?!”

She pretended to be shocked, then started to laugh at her own joke.

“Mom, why did you come here anyways?”

“Well one of my firm’s major clients, LOGIC, recently hired your father three days ago. Somehow it already leaked to LOGIC’s competitors, and now they're claiming that they were ‘spied on’ and want ‘compensation’. Of course these are all fake accusations because there is no way to have evidence of your dad’s AOC being used.”

“But that still doesn’t explain why you’re here?”

“This morning, before I got the call from the hospital, I got a package with your name on it. Your father sent it.”

“Well that’s not…”

“I wasn’t done. It was sent over 82 years ago.”
