Princess Ispera
The Princess Awakens

The Princess Awakens

Tis was like any other day. The sun rose without fail, the entire kingdom and their castle was bathed in the gentle glow of the morning sun. Fields of farmland, wet from the morning dew, glistened. The tilted ground showed that the crops had only recently been planted.

Back at the castle, a stray strand of light fell upon the youngest Princess. Her cute nose slightly twitched before she sneezed.

Having been awoken from her delightful nap, Ispera slowly rose, eyes still closed, and stretched. A soft whisper fell from her mouth as she enjoyed the relief from stretching her stiff muscles.

She tiredly opened her eyes, glancing at the sun with heartfelt eyes, and rose. She could have continue sleeping on the cloud she calls bed but like a switch, youthful energy was bursting in her veins.

She decided to quickly bathe herself before going out for a morning walk. Unlike her elder siblings, she enjoyed hunting. Granted, the biggest thing she managed to kill was merely the castle mice, but she will be able to kill bigger things soon enough.

Her biggest challenge in that regard was escaping the castle, her personal maid always reprimanded her saying she’s too young and that she’ll get lost. At least her maid had a myriad of skills to distract her, her favorite being the red illumination magic.

Deciding to explore the castle for the umpteenth time, Ispera marched towards the great gate. She passed rows and rows of knights, hitting a few so they did not slack, not like they reacted much anyways. A few crumpled and fell to the ground, showing their servitude. They did not move a single muscle in her presence but by midday they will be standing as though nothing happened.

Looking back, Ispera was always impressed with the tower within their castle. Each level housed her siblings from top to bottom, arranged by seniority. As the youngest, Ispera lived in the lowest part of the tower while her mother, Queen Kat, lived at the very top.

Bumping into another knight, she turned around and continued onto the great gates. Only those with the strength of behemoths could move this gate. One such behemoth was also her personal maid but regardless, there were the personal doors the royal family used to pass the gates.

Slipping through the door, Ispera entered the great halls. It was called this due to the many, many, great gates that reside in this area. One such area was the torture chamber, which used water to drown heretics. The royal family had annual gathering there to purify their holiness. Regardless, it is a very cruel event, forcing the traumatizing event on the young girl. Yet she lived and grew stronger thanks to it. Although it will take spilt blood to force Ispera to go there again.

Suppressing the event deep in her mind, she quickly passed that particular gate and moved on. The next gate housed the quarters her personal maid slept in. Ispera unsheathed her daggers and sliced at the gate. She did this for no particular reason other than to mark this gate as hers. Satisfied with the fresh four marks, she carried on. She passed the gate housing her personal maid’s mother and examined the grooves that resided deep in the wood. This showed the prowess of the great Queen Kat. For eons, she has chipped away at this door. Only the behemoths and Queen Kat know what’s on the other side.

She passed two other irrelevant gates, neither which sparked Ispera’s interest and arrived at the cliffs.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

This area was designed to test the strength and agility of those who challenged it. When Ispera was a young girl, her mother, the Queen, carried her up and down these cliffs until she was strong enough to do so on her own.

It has been two weeks since Ispera was able to climb the cliffs on her own and she does so expertly. Sometimes she falls on her face, but no one is there to see that.

Reaching the bottom gracefully, Ispera traveled along the soft carpet and passed the dark mirror. This mirror was one of her favorite things, although she didn’t know how to work its magic. Her maid often put images of the outside world for Ispera to watch.

What she did know was that her maid used the magical wand to turn it on. It had many grooves and buttons with ancient symbols marking their purpose.

She jumped onto the soft fallen tree and found the magic wand she was looking for.

This wand had a very difficult code placed within it to prevent it from activating, no matter how many buttons Ispera pressed, none of the bajillion combinations she placed worked.

It seemed as though this day was the same as any other, her failing to- oh, she hit the power button.

She watched as the black mirror slightly rumbled, tickling her whiskers. Before a flash of light revealing a male behemoth, who spouting the language of peasants. Ispera disliked this particular male behemoth as they lacked fur. She could only tolerate her personal maid as she had very long, colorful fur.

Ispera’s distracted gaze took the entire image as a whole. She saw the ancient symbols swiftly travelling near the bottom, the ugly behemoths furless face which held a deep crease, and the image of a weird metallic bird flying and on fire.

She swatted a random button, changing the channel. Unfortunately, it was the same image.

She swatted again, same image.

She swatted the button that looked like an N. Same thing.

She pounced on several buttons, same furless man.

She bit the remote before kicking it with her legs, again no change.

The remote fell off the couch before she chased after it. Nothing.

She fought the remote in a harrowing battle, rolling against the carpet and having her drool drip everywhere.

After what seems like centuries, their legendary battle was interrupted by a faint vibration.

She paused before kicking the remote away and glanced at the TV.

Countless black and white ants traveled across the screen.

Another large vibration occurred before Ispera felt something was wrong.

Indeed, she was hungry, and that battle worked up an appetite.

She ran towards the kitchen and was met with an empty silver bowl.

Her personal maid failed at her duties; she must be punished.

Ispera quickly and elegantly traveled to the second floor as another deep rumble traveled through their house.

Her sensitive ears told her that the behemoth has awoken and is shuffling around. Good, she knows the end is near.

Reaching the top of the stairs, Ispera ran towards her personal maid’s quarters and began reprimanding her loudly. She needed to be fed.

“Mauw!” (Feed me you wretched behemoth!)

Her maid finally opened the door, wearing an assortment of colorful fur and was tightly gripping onto her hand-held black mirror. Her face very pale, indeed it should be as she failed to feed her majesty.

“Not now Ispera, wake up your brother and sisters, we need to get to the shelters!” The maid cried before shutting the great gate.

Furious at this obvious sign of resistance, Ispera ran towards her siblings, intending to make a joint attack on this foolish behemoth.

Crashing through the royal door, Ispera had already started her speech.

“Mauw!” (Brothers and sisters!)

“Mauw!!” (My personal maid has denied me food!)

“Mauw.” (Help me pls)

Sir. Eatsalot awoken at the mere mention of food.

“MErow.” (I forward this notion)

Princess Sleepy quietly agrees with a swish of her tail.

Sebastian stretched before letting out a low purr. (Sure)

The twins Snowball and Doughball raised their paws in agreement.

“Mauw?” (Queen Kat, final verdict?)

Queen Kat gently rose from the highest tip of the cat tree.

With a melodic purr followed by words spoken with highest etiquette, Queen Kat gazed upon her sons and daughters before giving the final say.

“Meow” (We feast)

And with that, the sun fell upon the kingdom.
