Ending mutation...
Abruptly opening her eyes, Ispera violently coughed up blood and globs of black, red… things.
Dark clouds filled the sky, illuminated by an angry red glow.
“Mauw?” (Wait clouds? I’m outside?)
Ispera shakily turned over and fell into a puddle of water.
“MAUW!” (Ack! WATER!)
Immediately, unfound power rose within her before she forced her little limbs to move. Her spring loaded hindlegs pressed deep into the water before she felt ground that pushed back at her. She landed a foot away from the puddle of water.
“Hisssssssssss-” (Stupid water-)
Ispera paused mid hiss before tilting her head slightly. The water, which should’ve been blue or clear… was crimson red.
“Mauwwww” (Oh no, my personal maid must have bleed, is she okay?)
Ispera slowly approached the puddle. She knew only her personal maid could bleed blood, as when she tried to mark her maid's legs before. A single splinter of wood covered in blood was in the puddle. She looked down at her fur, lameting at the fact she had just bathed. Her majestic orange striped fur was covered in blood.
Shaking her head, Ispera sadly meowed at the puddle.
“mauw…” (Poor maid, she must have sacrifice herself to protect me, I won’t let your sacrifice be in vain)
Ispera took note of what was around her. The tower had fell, the many knights lay broken or covered in rubble. The roof of her kingdom was shattered and exposed to the elements. All her siblings were missing. There was a strange scent in the air, and it was daytime.
First order of business was to find food. Her deceased maid had not fed her that morning, and she felt very, VERY hungry. The great gate was long destroyed alongside the royal door, so she hopped over the pile as her paws met air.
Caught off guard, Ispera’s instincts kicked in. She twisted her body midair and up righted herself. She braced for impact before landing on another pile of rubble and found herself in the kitchen.
“mauw” (planned)
Squinting her eyes and straining her memory, she tried to focus on where her maid had hidden the bag of food. The only reason she knew there was a bag of food hidden was because it was her fault. You can’t just have a bag of food lying around and think it’s not going to be slashed.
“M-aaauuuuuu-w” (It was- it was- innnnnn- the wooden box, I’m so smart)
A couple of cabinets were opened so she investigated the wooden boxes to see if the cat food was there.
Metal disks, rat tubes, big bowls, colorful liquids, no bags. She wasn’t disheartened, after all, these were the wooden boxes already opened. She wrinkled her tiny noise, focusing on the scent of food.
Closing her eyes, she let the scent guide her. After a few minutes her paws touched soft grass and opened her eyes.
“…mauw” (The sun smells yums)
She went back into the hous-castle and continued looking for food.
It took a good two hours before she opened every last cabinet but all she found were crumbs.
At this point she was starving; she couldn’t even find water to sate her thirst.
*Squeak*
A slight twitch of the ear revealed the target of her hunger, a mouse, scavenging for food. Little did it know, it was going to become food.
“Mauw” (Food) Ispera quietly whispered.
Ispera silently and swiftly hid, waiting in the shadows till the elusive dinner showed itself.
A few minutes and a few squeaks passed by until finally, a small black mouse came out from one of the cabinets. She waited for the mouse, which for some reason was getting closer to her, and waited. Ispera’s reinforced heart quietly pounded. Ten, seven, four. Until they were only separated by the length of two Ispera’s, Ispera pounced swiftly and quietly.
Her tiny paw landed beside the mouse and onto its tail. It squeaked in horror, running with all its might. However, it was futile, it had already been caught between the jaws of the massive predator.
Crushing its tiny spine with a sickening crunch, Ispera savored the warm and crimson liquid dripping from her maw.
But hunger got the best of her, she quickly finished her meal and looked at the stain on the ground. She lapped at the fallen blood, assuring no stains remained and sating her thirst.
Half a mutation point gained!
Quickly batting away the bright blue screen, Ispera got up and continued to look for anything useful (food).
After hours of searching the remains of her home, she failed to find anything of use and was thus left with two choices. One, stay in her kingdom and wait for something to happen, or two, leave the kingdom to hunt.
Since she had enough energy to power three Sir. Eatsalot, hunting would be her best choice.
And so, she left her first and last home, on a journey to find out why the sun smells so great.
