The City of Jaquebei
A full moon envelopes the night as the “City of Cries” sleeps ever-so soundly. But, if one was to pay attention, a faint but sure sound would radiate the city which earned it its name.

“Arghhh!!!!”
I awake to screams flooding my brain.
My name is Jaques Kilebrin, the Emperor of the Great Adar Empire. I was crowned when I was 15 and effectively conquered the Continent and united all of Adar under a single banner in my 45 year rein. I met my wife Caroline when I was 42 and the gods were gracious enough to bring 4 children into my life, Jasmine, Kanius, Julian and Damien. My first child Jasmine is the pinnacle of beauty and could make countless nobles fall under her charm, she was all I could hope for as a Father. My second child Kanius is a son worthy to brag about to my subordinates, kind but firm, he has all the qualities needed to rule my Empire. My third child Julian is a lost case, he’s never shown emotions to anyone but his family and manipulates all he can, and that brings us down to the fourth, Damien.

When the Empire learnt of a 3rd prince they celebrated for 3 days and 3 nights for their Emperor had brought another Kilebrin into the world. But when the child was born, he was different. Born with hair as white as the clouds and eyes as red as blood, he was shunned by the kingdom as the problem child of the Royal Family. But none the less our family accepted him as the son he is, not the monster he was made out to be.
But then, on his eighth birthday, something happened, something that still baffles us to this day, he screamed. We asked if something was the matter but he didn’t answer, he just kept screaming.
He screamed on and on, day and night and finally for the first time in two years whispered a faint word unknown to this day to my wife Caroline
When he was 10 my Wife, due to unknown reasons, ended her life. Due to this my 3 other children began to scrutinise him, blaming him for Caroline’s death
I, fearing for my Damien’s, locked him in a special room in the deepest most darkest depths of the Kalenjue Dungeon
He rarely ate, he rarely slept , he just screamed and soon the screaming turned to begging, the begging to crying and the crying to whimpering and then, for the first time in 4 years he stopped.
I run towards the dungeon still in my night gown, not caring for the face I am showing to my servants and knights.
I open up a large metal door and inside sat a boy, no more than 14 with shoulder length white hair and eyes as red as the blood surrounding his body dripping from his eyes
”Hello Father”
