Chapter 7: A Not-So-Lucky Draw

Chapter 7: A Not-So-Lucky Draw

Bob couldn’t remember the last time he felt this excited. As he set off down the dusty road toward Emberfield, he couldn’t stop grinning. The air was fresh, the sun was shining, and with every step he took, he felt like he was getting closer to becoming a real hero—a real mage. The kind that didn't have to worry about poop spells or stink clouds.

“Just imagine it,” he said to himself as he walked, holding his staff up like a warrior. “Bob the Flame Mage! I’ll walk into the Fire Guild, show them my awesome magic, and they'll all be impressed. Maybe I’ll learn some kind of epic flame spell like ‘Inferno Blast’ or ‘Dragon’s Breath’... yeah, that sounds cool.” He waved his arm, pretending to cast a spell, making explosion noises with his mouth.

But, of course, his fantasy was interrupted by a loud ding! in his ear.

“Daily Reminder!” P.U.M.A.’s voice chirped. “You have accumulated enough Stink Points for a reward! Don’t miss out on P.U.M.A.’s Magical Draw Dial! Great prizes await!”

Bob’s eye twitched. “No thanks,” he muttered. “I’m not falling for that again. Last time I used those points, all I got was... well, boots that make me smell slightly less awful.”

“Reminder: Stink Points are the key to your magical growth, User!” P.U.M.A. insisted. “Don’t waste this valuable opportunity! Spin the Magical Draw Dial and unlock powerful rewards to enhance your Poop Mage abilities!”

Bob sighed. “I don’t want to enhance my Poop Mage abilities,” he said through gritted teeth. “I want to leave them behind.” But the system wouldn't stop. Every few minutes, another pop-up flashed in front of his eyes, filling his view with colorful lights and popups, urging him to use the points.

After what felt like hours of walking—and constant nagging from P.U.M.A.—Bob finally gave in. “Fine!” he shouted, throwing his hands up. “I’ll do it, okay? Happy now?”

“Excellent choice, User!” P.U.M.A. chimed, as cheerful as ever. “Now spinning the Draw Dial!”

A big, glowing wheel appeared in front of Bob, covered in flashing sections labeled things like “Rare Spell,” “Super Stink Boost,” and “Poop Armor.” Bob reached out and gave it a hard spin. The wheel spun fast, blurring into a swirl of colors as it whirled around and around. Bob’s heart pounded in his chest, a mix of hope and nerves. Maybe this would be his lucky break—a chance to get something useful for once.

Click... click... click... The wheel slowed down, and Bob’s eyes locked onto a golden section labeled “Legendary Fire Skill.” He held his breath as the wheel inched closer... and closer...

But then it ticked one more time, landing on a section labeled “Stink Suppression.”

A message popped up: “Congratulations! You’ve won the passive effect: ‘Stink Suppression!’ Your odor will be reduced by 20%. Enjoy your improved scent!”

Bob threw his hands in the air. “Yes! Finally, something good!” he cheered. “Now I won’t smell as bad! That’s... actually great!”

“Oh dear!” P.U.M.A.’s voice interrupted his excitement. “It seems you’ve drawn one of the rarest detrimental effects! ‘Stink Suppression’ is a powerful passive effect that makes your spells... just a little less potent.”

Bob’s grin faded. “Wait... detrimental?”

“But don’t worry, User!” P.U.M.A. continued in that overly cheerful tone. “To make up for your terrible luck, you’ve been awarded... ‘Unlucky Token!’ Use this token to play the new and improved mini-game: ‘The Mega Lucky Five Card Pick!’”

The screen flashed, and colorful, swirling cards appeared in the air, glowing with gold trim and shimmering with sparkles. Bob stared at the cards, feeling his head spin. “What... what’s a Five Card Pick?” he asked, already dreading the answer.

“Pick one card, User!” P.U.M.A. chimed, as if nothing was wrong. “It could be your chance to win the most powerful rewards yet! And remember: Luck is on your side!”

Bob groaned. “Yeah... lucky me,” he muttered, shaking his head. But as much as he didn’t trust the system, a small part of him hoped—hoped that this time, maybe, just maybe, things would finally go his way.

The five shimmering cards hovered in front of Bob, each one sparkling in a different color—red, blue, green, gold, and silver. They floated up and down in the air, and above them, huge golden letters flashed, “LUCK x300!”

Bob raised an eyebrow. “Luck times three hundred? Is that... good?”

“That’s right, User!” P.U.M.A. chimed in. “Your luck is greatly increased for this special pick! Choose one card to reveal your fate! Exciting rewards await!”

Bob gulped. He eyed the cards, trying to feel for some kind of clue. Each one looked equally shiny, equally mysterious, and equally tempting. He felt sweat on his palms, his fingers twitching in anticipation. “Okay... okay, this is it. This is my chance,” he whispered to himself. “Please... please give me something good.”

With a deep breath, Bob closed his eyes, reached out, and tapped the red card. It felt warm under his touch, and the second he picked it, the other cards disappeared in a cloud of sparkles. The remaining card in his hand pulsed with a bright light, and he could feel his heart pounding in his chest.

“Come on... come on...” he muttered, holding his breath. He opened his eyes slowly and flipped the card over, revealing the words in glowing letters:

“Mana Surge Amplifier: A huge boost to your magical capacity! Congratulations, User!”

Bob's jaw dropped. He couldn't believe it. "YES!" he yelled, jumping up and down. "Finally, something useful! This is amazing! I’ll have more mana than ever! I can cast bigger spells... maybe even more than one spell at a time!"

He could already imagine it—walking into Emberfield with a swirl of fire around him, maybe even juggling spells in both hands. He’d be unstoppable! “This is it! My luck’s finally turning around!”

But before he could fully celebrate, a loud ding! sounded, and P.U.M.A.’s voice took on a more serious tone. “Warning: System Error! Mana Surge Unstable! Body Cannot Contain Mana Overload!”

Bob froze, staring at the screen as red error messages flooded the interface. Alarms blared in his ears, and his vision filled with flashing lights. “Wait, what’s going on? What do you mean, ‘unstable’? That doesn’t sound good!”

“Activating emergency protocol...” P.U.M.A. continued calmly, as if this were all routine. “To stabilize User's body and prevent magical overload, a new passive ability has been activated: ‘Overflow Release.’”

Bob’s confusion only grew. “Overflow Release? What does that mean?” he asked, panic rising in his voice.

“‘Overflow Release’ is a passive function that will release any excess mana when your magical capacity reaches critical levels,” P.U.M.A. explained in its cheerful voice. “The mana will be expelled through a natural bodily process... please stand by.”

“What natural bodily process?!” Bob shouted, but before he could get an answer, he felt a sudden, strange pressure building in his stomach. His eyes widened in alarm. “Uh... oh...”

Without warning, a loud, booming fart erupted from him. The force of it was so strong that it sent a shockwave through the air, rustling leaves, shaking the ground beneath him, and sending birds flying out of the trees in a panicked flutter.

Bob stood there, stunned, his face going pale as the realization sank in. “Oh no... no, no, no...” He clutched his stomach as the pressure built up again, and another fart burst out, this one louder and longer than the last. The sound echoed through the forest like thunder, and Bob’s eyes watered from the overwhelming stink.

“What... what is happening to me?” he moaned, trying to concentrate on stopping the noises. But it was no use—the farts just kept coming. Some were short and sharp, others were long and drawn-out, each one sending out a different blast of stink that made Bob gag.

Every time his mana levels spiked, the "Overflow Release" activated, and Bob realized that this was his new reality. His body was like a magical pressure valve, and every time it filled up too much, the only way to release the mana was... well, through a fart.

Bob’s face burned with embarrassment as he stumbled along the path, desperately trying to get his magic under control. But it was hopeless—the more he panicked, the more his mana overflowed, and the louder and smellier the farts became.

“This... this can’t be real,” he said, groaning in humiliation. “How am I supposed to be a hero like this?”
