Chapter 100 - Epilogue

Owen stretched as he woke up. He was only able to move one arm, but that was okay, he had his other currently being borrowed by the sleeping Myra next to him. He laid back and for the millionth time sent his thanks to Aesona. He wasn't sure how she had kept him from dying, but he was alive thanks to her.

He still couldn't remember most details after Envy had shown up, but from everything he had learned about chaos, Owen knew that it was a miracle he was still alive. His only other memory of that day, was being walked back to Myra and his friends. He smiled while staring at the ceiling of his and Myra's apartment.

The worst part about the month they had spent just relaxing and recovering, had been when he realized he didn't have a status screen anymore. The first several minutes after that had been filled with panic, but after a while he calmed down. If that is what he had to trade to stay alive, then he was happy to do it. He pulled Myra in close and planted a kiss on her forehead. She stirred slightly, but didn't wake up.

Everything had ended up working out, though he wasn't sure being back in the office is what he expected, but running the guild was still better than working at his old job. Peggy had also mostly switched to guild work, though she still grinded out levels as they got closer to the guild battles. Malik had stuck around, claiming to want to help out the guild, though both Owen and Myra were pretty sure it was because of Peggy.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

The biggest surprise was seeing Lucas again. He had seemed much more, well grown up. Owen hadn't really be sure at the time how to phrase it, but he had ended up much more certain in himself than Owen had expected. He had arrived, surprisingly, to pick up Xerxes. They had barely stayed longer than a day, before both of them left for Xerxes's realm. It was a bittersweet goodbye, but Owen supposed that it needed to happen like that. Lucas was meant for great things, it also made it easier he was planning on visiting from time time, though it was more than likely to check on Briar.

That reminder made Owen smile as he tried to go back to sleep. They were making a trip out to see how Briar was doing and he couldn't wait as the sense of adventure washed through him. Even without having access to the system, his time with it had sparked something inside of him, that he refused to let go.

Even still, things were good. And as he slipped back to sleep, he couldn't help the smile on his face as he pulled Myra close.
