Chapter 2: The Journey Begins
"Kai! Are you still glued to the TV!?" A loud roar came from Sinthia, Kai's mother.
It was due to the loud cheers emanating from the TV.
Kai was too engrossed in the Pokémon championship that was going on.
"Charizard, use Flame Wave!" The challenger, wearing a blue jacket and a hat, called out this move as he pointed his finger towards the opponent. The aggression was palpable through the TV!
Charizard twirled around, releasing flames from its tail. As if forming a seismic wave, the flame wave surged forward, a weaker version of Flame Thrower but slightly stronger than Ember.
"Blaziken, use Flame Thrower!" Blaziken conjured a red-hot flaming ball in its mouth which transformed into a fire beam that traveled all the way towards Charizard.
The one standing to the right was Blaziken's trainer. He had a smile on his face, clearly excited by the thrill of the match.
Both Pokémon were down to their last hit points. Charizard and Blaziken had been fighting for over ten minutes! The battle was about to be decided at any moment!
The commentator found no break in this nerve-wracking match!
"Charizard has used Flame Wave to charge up the surrounding. It was to attack and raise its attack power at the same time! But look at Blaziken! It has used Flame Thrower, not giving any time for Charizard to charge up! If the attack hits directly, then it could be Blaziken's win!" The commentator said relentlessly.
"The Flame Thrower proceeds and then-"
"Charizard, dodge!" The challenger gave the command, but unfortunately, he was a bit late. With how tired Charizard was, it couldn't fly immediately!
BOOM!
"NO! CHARIZARD!" The trainer screamed, his voice echoing throughout the arena in the utmost silence.
A cloud of dust erupted in the surroundings, soon subsiding, and the silhouette of the Charizard that was visible became clearer...
Charizard was still standing... but only for another second. A sudden flinch, and then Charizard fell to the ground, collapsing and losing consciousness.
And the moment this happened, the judge announced after a careful look, "The winner is-"
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
Before Kai could hear the name, the loud cheer and his mom's nagging took the best of him.
"Kai!" She came banging at the door, almost breaking it.
Kai instantly stood up and switched the TV off. He ran straight to the door and opened it, only to find the terrifying visage of his mother in front of him.
"Have you taken a look at the time, Kai!?" She pointed her index finger at the wall-clock: It was 11:19.
"Ahaha, mom... I was just-", before Kai could say anything else, his mother pulled his ear.
"Ehhhhh- mom! It hurts, it-"
"Shut up! You and your Pokémon show... can't you sleep early at least before an important day!?" She asked, picking on his bad habit of always sleeping late.
"Ahhhh. Mom, I'll sleep. I'll sleep now!" He said as he pulled himself away.
"You better." She said as she turned around and exited the room. She also added, "Don't lock the door now!"
"Yes mom...", and despite his mom saying that, he slowly pushed the door close and locked it.
Then instantly he turned around and jumped towards the TV, switching it on while muting it.
But now, all they showed was an award show.
"Ugh, dammit!" He cussed at himself. He hoped that the battle could go longer but it was really over.
He couldn't enjoy the final moment like the others.
Sighing, he switched the TV off and went to bed. He switched off the light and then hugged the pillow tightly.
'If I were Charizard's trainer, then instead of dodging, I would have asked it to use Fire Blast! I'm pretty sure it would have been effective against Flame Thrower...'
It was finally 00:00 AM in the midnight. It was at this time that Kai heard a strange voice.
Ding!
[Integrating Pokemon Training System...]
[Integrating...]
He was surprised by the voice. He pulled himself up, looked left and right but found nothing...
'Maybe I'm sleep deprived...', he went back to bed and continued with what he was doing.
'Also, I would have made him fly beforehand. He would definitely have more advantage. I-' and he kept mumbling about what he would have done and what he wouldn't have for another hour...
Another hour passed by as he thought about playing as the opponent. He now thought about how he would have used Blaziken... and how he won the trophy and how he-
It was 5 in the morning when he finally slept.

Ring ring!
Ring ring!
Ring ring!
BAM!
Not the alarm clock but the door of the room broke.
This sound forced Kai up. Surprised and puzzled, he turned towards the door only to find a ghost type Pokémon...
"Ghost type!?"
"Alakazam! Alakazam!" He mumbled, as if he was in sleep only to get a headshot from this ghost type Pokémon.
"Yeah son, now do you see ghosts!?" Kai recognized this voice.
As he blinked a few more times, he found his mom standing in the front.
"M-mom!?" He was genuinely surprised.
"Hadn't I told you not to lock the door!?"
"Ehehe, sorry mom..." Kai scratched his hair foolishly.
His mom facepalmed herself as she said, "Now go, quick, get changed. It's a big day today, isn't it?"
And when Kai looked up at the clock, he found that it was 7 am.
"Yes mom, it's a big day." He smiled because he was happy to have a mom such as her, who woke him up before it was too late, unlike certain someone...
She dashed off after seeing Kai's smile, as if she was busy preparing something.
Kai rushed to the washroom to take a bath and then after returning, started to change into nice pair of clothes. He was getting ready to set out on a new journey when all of a sudden, he heard the same voice yet again...

And this time, a blue screen appeared in front of him, displacing the exact same that he heard.
"Huh?"
"H-have I finally gone insane?"
