The rest of the day was spent training with Drako and Hellen.
Drako practiced brick break, trying to fully comprehend the fighting type energy so that he can use the move more fluidly. Though the TM gives a pokemon the general information needed to perform the move, practice was needed to make it their own.
Meanwhile, I worked with Hellen to see what moves she is capable of and how developed they are. She started with showing off her vines by whipping a practice target causing it to crack, each training room included some concrete targets with the fee. Then she proceeded to lift herself off the ground and walk around like she was on stilts.
I was duly impressed by her vines, “Great job, Hellen. Do you know razor leaf, or leech seed?”
She responded by sending out some sharp leaves that embedded themselves in the same target about half an inch deep. Then she shot a seed out of her bulb that landed in one of the cracks and started to grow, small vines latching on to the cracks in the target.
Hellen turned to me with a smirk, “Bulba!”
“Nice work! How about any powders?”
At that she got into a wide stance with a determined look, “Saur!” She cried as a small mushroom cloud of spores came out of her bulb and settled at her feet.
She looked away shyly, “...saur.”
“Hey, look at me. That was a good attempt, Hellen. It just means we need to work on those moves.” I said as I smiled at her.
She also had the usual tackle and growl. As well as the beginning of growth. Growth doesn’t increase a pokemon’s size, but rather increases the power of their body for a short time and results in a period of weakness afterwards.

I worked out a training schedule for Hellen that would work on physical fitness as well as work on her various moves. I didn’t want to overwhelm her, so the rest of the day was working on physical fitness along with her vines and razorleaf. She would run laps and attack the targets with alternating attacks.
Once Hellen was set on her routine, I started to workout myself. Occasionally providing some encouragement or advice.
----------------------------------------
The next day, I woke up to a vine wrapping around me and the snores of Drako. Once I moved to get up, Hellen woke and stretched out on the bed like a cat.
“You can sleep in, I’m just going to get ready for the day.” I say as I pat her head.
She curls up on the bed as I start to take a shower.
Once I was ready for the day, I woke up my team and we all had breakfast. As for the goal of today? It was to make some money! Already, I was getting low on funds after buying the ingredients for Hellen’s food. If I wanted the best for my team, be it TMs or expensive ingredients, I needed money.
I could go to the local Battle Arena and win some battles, but the amount of money I would get is chump change.
The method I decided on was to get a rare pokemon and sell it at the annual Pre-Season Auction which would take place in about a month. Obviously, one of the rarest pokemon I could get would be the cystal onix! Variant pokemon are highly sought after and fetch a high price when sold. Especially with this being such a beautiful pokemon.
I personally don’t want onix on my team and the sale of onix opens up an opportunity to buy a pokemon at the auction. I really need a psychic type to protect my mind. If I start to make waves with different discoveries, I might find some unsavory people after me. Finding a good psychic type pokemon in the wild is incredibly difficult due to their ability to detect minds from far away and the ability to teleport that most have.
Though dark types can perform a similar function. It depends on what is available at the auction. Usually there are many well bred and high potential pokemon.
There is a part of me that wants to find Blastoise Island to report a group of starter pokemon unknown to the League. I would be able to get a lot of money for the discovery, but I planned to do it after I have some sort of defense against psychics. Similarly, I could report the discovery of Dragonite Island to the Blackthorns. There wasn’t really any other option as the Blackthorns have a tight rein on the dratini line and are legally given the rights to wild breeding groups. Though the discoverer does get monetary payment or equivalent value in items or pokemon.
I’m not being too blackhearted by exposing these groups of pokemon. They would get discovered eventually, and they are not treated badly. The offspring that want to battle will be available to be given to trainers. Along with food and protection, it’s not that bad of a deal.
Anyways, I quickly buy a couple of heavy balls before I set out.
Time to find the crystal onix!
