Ch 1. The boy and the beast

Ch 1. The boy and the beast

Earth, 5000 BHP (Before Harry Potter)

...The Great Amazon Forest…

An eight year old young boy with muddy brown hair and brown eyes carried a bow on his back. He was currently hiding silently inside a thick bush. In his right hand, a sharp black colored arrow lay at the ready as he watched a deer grazing in the distance.

Ever so slowly, he took the bow off his back; carefully making sure no noises were made in the process. Gripping the bow’s frame he placed the arrow inside its proper position and carefully took aim.

Minutes went by as he tried to stabilize his breathing. Inhale...exhale. Rince and repeat. Once his breathing calmed into a steady rhythm, he let the arrow loose.

“Woosh”

Flying 40 meters through the air and hitting a few falling leaves, the arrow made its way towards the deer’s brain. Rapidly decreasing the distance, the arrow soon landed on its’ intended destination, and with a thud the deer was dead.

Quickly arriving at the scene the boy hoisted the deer onto his back and fled the area. Animals and beasts would soon smell the blood and if he were still there, well a bow and arrow sure as hell wouldn’t save him.

Arriving at a small cave 1 mile away from where he killed the deer, the young boy opened up the door, and drop the dead deer on the floor. Looking around the cave, wooden bowls of different sizes littered the area, along with a campfire in one corner and a grass bed in the other.

Closing the entrance to the cave with a stone wall he sighed in relief. This one deer alone would make him survive for a few days before he goes back out hunting again. Looking back at the game he just killed, he couldn’t help but think about the time before all this. It had been hard for him to survive on his own ever since his parents had died especially for one such as his age, however he still pulled through. Yes he wasn’t always so alone. A hunter of a father and a loving mother he once had. But due to an enemy tribe, his parents were killed trying to defend him.

As if it was just yesterday that this great tragedy had happened, he recalled it perfectly.

….Four years ago….

A young boy of the ages 4 was happily in the company of his two loving parents when on one fateful morning, screams and shouts echoed across his once peaceful tribe. Men in armor made out of animal skins with bone clubs in hand were rampaging throughout the village causing horrible mayhem. Women were raped, men were killed, and some had their limbs chopped off and were left there still breathing. Although the warriors of his tribe fought to the death, they still died at the hands of these vicious invaders.

Waking up from these screams he panicked and wondered what was happening, when a menacing figure of a man suddenly bursted through the door of his house. Screaming bloody murder at the man, his parents soon arrived at the scene and a battle ensued.

Fists and kicks rained down upon the intruder, but none of that caused any fatal injury. With a shout from his father telling him to quickly run from here, he had no choice but to comply and madly dashed towards the deep part of the woods. But before he arrived at the edge of the village, he heard the scream of his mother. Looking back, horror and dread was plastered on his face.

There in the house, a stump of a woman was screaming in madness at the pain inflicted from her wounds, and in the embrace of another figure, his father held his mom with tears. With a missing arm, the father brought the limbless mom close to his chest, and with a soothing voice said, “It’s okay I’m here”

Gurgle...cough...gurgle

“No need to speak my dear, he should be safe. Our boy should be arriving at the forest by now and with the skills I’ve trained into him since birth, he should survive out in the wilderness”

Cough...gurgle

“Although it’s a pity that we won’t see him grow up, I hope he lives a good and fulfilling life in our stead” he said while looking down at his woman. The woman in turn had a smile on her face, seeming relieved at the thought that her son would be safe. With one last look at her man, the light in her eyes finally came to an end.

Drip...drip… Seeing that his woman had finally died, even more tears cascaded down his eyes. Just yesterday all was well. A loving woman in hand, and a healthy son, life couldn’t be more better than ever. Now all that came to an end. His woman is dead, his son would be a bastard, and he too would soon be embraced by the darkness that consumed everyone.

Placing his now dead woman on the floor, he picked up the dead intruders club, and with a manic dash headed towards the other invaders.

Like a blazing fire coming to an end, the boy’s father died, but not before taking with him 2 others. Yes a true warrior that died facing death head on.

After watching that sad yet inspiring battle of his father, he resumed his escape and fled into the forest.

Now four years later, he was on his own trying to survive out in this wilderness whilst plotting a way to make that enemy tribe pay for what they’ve done. So far though he hasn’t found anything yet.

Pulling the deer carcass towards the campfire, he grabbed a makeshift knife and with a quick thrust stabbed into the deer’s belly region. Grabbing a big wooden bowl on the side he slowly drained out the blood from the deer. Once done he made the stab wound bigger and reaching inside with his hands, pulled out all the organs and intestines from the deer. Dumping all the contents into a different bowl, he started working on skinning the creature. It’s pelt would be used to wade out the coming months and protect against pesky insects.

As the young boy was working on the current task at hand, all of a sudden, the ground started shaking.

Birds and other creatures roared or cawed in the distance, leaves started falling at a rapid pace, mountains in the surrounding areas had boulders and other things falling off its cliffs.

Stopping what he was doing, the boy went outside of his cave and upon looking up into the sky, saw a streak of fire heading towards an area in the distance. As this ball of flame came closer and closer to the earth, the ground shook even harder foretelling that the end was near. But that was just probably the thoughts of this time periods inhabitants.

….The deepest parts of the Amazon forest in a massive mountain….

A massive creature deep inside a huge cave was in the woes of slumber. Body as massive as kingdoms and cities. Claws and teeth as sharp as mythical metals. Wings that would span to triple its’ size where it currently not sleeping. Its entire body was covered in scales that were black as night itself, but also had a sheen of gold mixed in. Occasional wisps of fire would come out of its nostrils as it slumbered away. Pity the fool who would dare to wake this magnificent creature as untold mayhem would soon ensue from this beast's rage.

However, all that soon changed as the once ball of fire in the sky flew through the mountain, straight into this beast's domain seemingly unhindered. Trees and grass were destroyed as a big crater was left in its wake. Rubble and dust filled the area in a 100 meter radius from the impact, and inside the crater was a small hole that lead straight to where the beast slept.

Upon gazing at the sleeping beast, nothing seemed to have changed other than the fact that a new entrance to its lair was made. The ball of fire most likely felt like a fart to this sleeping beast, as one can tell that no damage other than to its surroundings was made.

….Inside the boy’s cave….

‘Quick I got to make it to where that thing landed’ I said in my head. This ball of fire that caused mountains to shake, and the very ground to tremble, has got to have what I need to go and kill those bastards! Yes this is perhaps what I’ve been looking for all this time!

Grabbing some mutton that I just made and placed into a sack, I head towards where this thing had landed with a bow in hand. You know, just incase I run into an unfavorable situation. It wasn’t that hard to find the path either, as 2 miles in the direction the ball went I see signs of destruction.

Trees, grasses, and dirt were all over the place forming a trail digging straight through a massive mountain from what I can see in the horizon. Looking closely, I can see a huge crater. This must be the point of impact I thought.

Dashing through what bushes and trees remained, I slowly make my way towards the crater. Upon arriving there, to my disappointment nothing was here. “No no no! There must be something here!” I shouted. Digging through the ground with my bare hands, I start searching for something...anything!

To my joy I finally stumbled upon what might be something of use. There right in front of me, a hole about 1 inch in diameter was hiding under a rock I just moved. Quickly digging through the hole, I used every ounce of strength my body could make. Wincing through the pain of my now broken nails and blistered hands, I sighed in relief. The pain was sure worth it, as now I can see what looks to be a cave inside this small hole.

Making my way inside, I plopped my body right into the cave. Soon darkness flooded my vision with the exception of the light shiny from the human sized hole I made. Looking around and finding some stones, I tore off a piece of my fur clothing and made a torch. Now with another source of light I head deeper into the darkness.

For what seemed like a long time walking through this cave, I start feeling the ground shake yet again. Deeper and deeper as I go the shaking increases, until finally I arrive at what was causing said tremors.

There in front of me was the stuff of every tribes nightmares. Destroyer of countless lives, maker of uninhabitable grounds, being of great terror!

“Shit I’m totally screwed!” an accidental shout escaped my lips. Covering my mouth, I held my breath. Hoping that I somehow didn’t cause this beast to wake, I look towards it and let out a silent exhale. Turning the other way, I make for the hole I made somewhere back where I came from and as if answering the horrors of my imagination, the ground started trembling hard.

Profusely sweating like rain, I turn towards the creature, and what greeted my eyes was an eyeball the size of who knows how large, but fucking large, staring right at me.

“Why does this person look so small?” A deep and terrifying voice came out of the beast.

“Huh what is this beast saying?” I said to myself. The beast in question looked back into my eyes as if also not understanding what I was saying. I mean why would it, we are obviously two different species.
