The Best Memory

The Best Memory

My favorite memory is one I

can never quite remember, or

decide.

Because either I made you laugh, or

you made me laugh, or we

were both laughing with someone else.

If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

Maybe it was the time we talked so much we forgot to eat

or maybe the time food tasted all the better for the company

...maybe the time we toasted in silence.

Which you was it?

from this church, or that party,

or the other state?

All I remember is that we were together

and time passed

and mattered.

Times of feasting,

of planning,

of working.

And between us, the words we said - or didn't say -

wove a friendship in time's fabric

that remains part of the story after we both leave the stage.

Because the light of love

makes the hands of darkness feeble.

I've seen it

and it's my favorite memory.
