Learning From Each Other

Learning From Each Other

Over the next few weeks, TJ helped Sam in many ways. He would knock on the doors of the Tabernacle in the wee hours of the morning, much to Sam's chagrin. After fixing up the building for the first few hours of the day, TJ would coach Sam with some sort of physical fitness. Some days they would jog, others they would work their arms with push-ups, and occasionally he would train hand-to-hand combat. Sam struggled to keep up, but eventually learned and grew with time. After training their bodies, TJ insisted they whip their minds and souls into shape with a time of meditation and Bible study.

It was a grueling few weeks, but Sam persevered, and came to rely on and learn from TJ, as he had with Eli in the past. It was nice to have a mentor and close friend again.

When Sundays rolled around, Sam would preach behind the pulpit at the Tabernacle, just as Eli had before him. He would make sure to always preach a sermon, no matter the crowd. Some days, TJ would be the only one in the congregation. He never missed a service, and always made sure Sam knew how much he enjoyed the message. They had both benefited from their fateful meeting.

So it would continue, day after day, week after week, until the duo finally got the lead they wer waiting for on the mysterious new crime lord 'Goliath.'

"Calling all units. Code eight at 20 Public Square. Bank robbery in progress. Back-up needed,” the police scanner exclaimed with ongoing chatter.

“That's interesting,” TJ said, mostly to himself, “Not often we have old-fashioned bank robberies like this anymore.”

“Think they might need some help?” Sam asked, feeling a pit in his stomach.

“Nah, police force won't want vigilantes responding---”

“Requesting back-up! Officers down, I repeat, officers down! Perp is 10 feet tall and appears to be... bulletproof,” the police chatter interrupted.

“Okay, never mind. That's our cue. Lord, give us strength.”
