Mei just looked at Nalser blankly. She had no idea what he was thinking about when he raged out like that. Almost a little scared to asked, she just sat there. She knew nothing about Nalser and she always felt an invisible pressure weighing down on her. She knew that the young man, who was sitting the opposite to her, background was nothing simple and if she did something wrong, not only her but also her entire clan would suffer the consequences.
She had heard a lot about the young masters from truly major powers. Since they had grown up with a silver spoon in their mouths, trying to find a just person amongst them was like finding a saint from amongst bandits. She conducted herself with utmost care and tried to do everything so that she would not offend the young master in front of her at all costs. Nalser thought for a second and asked her, “The Water Embryo Body. It is an acquired body right?” Mei was just startled, it was true. However, the fact that he could point it out like that, meant that he did not have a weak background. Mei just nodded and said, “Yes, like young master has said, my special body was acquired. When I was little, me and my brother like to play in the forest behind the family compound. When we were hungry, we would just eat the berries and such in the forest. However, one day like any other, I ate some kind of a blue fruit. After hovering on the edge of life and death for a week, my condition finally stabilized and I had acquired the Heavenly Water Embryo Body.”
Nalser was deep in thought when he suddenly remembered that he read about it in one of the books on Special Bodies. He blinked to the Library and quickly brought the book. When he blinked back to his original spot and started looking it up. However, Mei was completely shaken. Her face went pale as she thought to herself, “Domain Blink. This is only possible in Ancient Empyrean Dimensional Spaces. To have such a high level Artefact, is he a young master of some extremely powerful old clan or is he connected to the Remnants?” Just thinking about either of those choices would make her a few shades paler.
Neither of those powers were something that they could or would dare to offend. She was already starting to consider whether having been caught would have been a better situation or not. However, that thought left her head as quickly as it entered. Currently all she could do was hope that she could curry the favour of this young master. However, she could not understand one thing: Why did someone of his status help her in the first place. If he didn’t want to get mixed up in this mess, he could ha just handed her over to the Golden Branch or just dumped her somewhere. However, this guy went out of his way to help escape the Golden Branch and also he brought various elixirs to cure the poison inside her.
However, the poison had corroded her quite a bit already. Her cultivation had fallen from the middle Palace Establishment to the 9 Stage of Qi Gathering. Her Qi was also corroded and most her meridians were crippled. Her future as a cultivator was now shot. In the future, the cultivation would gradually drop and if there would be no nourishing elixirs, it would plummet to zero soon and she would become completely crippled.
In her, there was no value, so she couldn’t understand, why would Nalser of out of his way to help her. Suddenly Nalser said, “Ohh, found it.” She looked towards Nalser with a curious gaze. She couldn’t understand the characters written on the book. Nalser started reading out loud. “Heavenly Water Embryo Body, it is classified as a lower tier acquired body that can only be obtained when a person, who fills specific requirements eats a Water Embryo Fruit. The special body itself will have increased affinity with water and makes training in Water Type Arts relatively easy, twice the result for half the effort. However, the real value of the body lies in the ability to raise the bearers children’s affinity with water and also it would give the offspring a certain special ability that will grow with their body. However, this type of special body can only be acquired by women.”
With that Nalser raised his gaze from the book and looked towards Mei, “So that Xi Wei or whoever, was after the effect of offspring?” Mei just blushed and nodded her head. Nalser just let out a sigh and his head almost hit the table as he said, “So, mind telling me, who does he think he is?” Mei felt puzzled by the question but soon found that Nalser’s gaze was a bit nostalgic as he looked away continuing, “What gives him the right to decide upon another persons future?”
Mei and even Nalser didn’t know any more, whether the question was directed at Mei or someone else. Mei could only cast her head down and stay quiet. Nalser turned his head back and with a serious expression said, “Your cultivation is shot now right?”
Mei looked in Nalser’s eyes and when she could see the resolution in them, she could only weakly nod. Seeing this Nalser decided to throw a curveball to her, “If I gave you a cultivation method and elixirs to train until the Empyrean Level, would you be willing to follow me?” This completely stupefied Mei and well, everyone who were keeping an eye on him. Before Mei could even ask her what he meant, Nalser said, “I will give you a cultivation method of Ancient Path. I’ll help you fix your meridians and I’ll support you through your way to becoming an Empyrean Immortal. All I ask in turn is that you give me your loyalty and help me kill a certain man.”
Mei looked towards Nalser in shock. Not to mention giving her loyalty, if he told her to become his slave, she would be willing without a second thought. Just as she was about to answer, Nalser shot her a cold glance and said, “The one I want to kill is of the royal bloodline of an extremely strong Empire. Think it through before answering. I’ll give you 3 days to consider this. When I ask for your loyalty, I ask for a whole hearted one. I do not need traitor and I will also not hesitate to strike you down if you betray me. “With that, Nalser left towards the Library.
When before he did not have a wholehearted resolve, then now he had made his whole hearted resolve to survive and get revenge. If he alone wouldn’t be strong enough to take on those traitors, then he will amass an army. He will grow an army that will be strong enough to take on any Empire, any power. Mei was just sitting there and thinking it through.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
Nalser said all he said, so that she would make the right decision. He said that the enemy was extremely strong and had an influential backing so their chances of survival would be minimal. She could only make wild guesses about the reason of the enmity. However, the more she thought about it, the more she found out that there was no reason to reject Nalser’s proposal. Currently, she could no longer train in cultivation. However, Nalser gave her a way of survival. If she went back to the clan like she was, she would have lost most of her value already.
Only her family and some more loyal retainers wouldn’t mistreat her but most people would see her as just a good incubator and would try to get some ties by selling her off. Mei looked resolutely towards the sky and said to herself, “I don’t care if you wanted to kill the Ancient King himself, I would stand behind you.”
She set her steps towards the Library in hopes of catching up to Nalser. Although not a long time had passed, she could not even find Nalser’s shadow. Since she couldn’t read the Ancient Characters, she couldn’t understand any of the plates. All she could do was ask Sweeper that where Nalser went. When she entered the building Sweeper pointed towards, her jaw almost fell to the floor. Inside the humongous Library, she felt like she was an ant. She was woken up from her daze by Librarian who asked, “What can I do for you?”
Mei looked over the puppet for a second and answered, “I am looking for your Master, is he here?” Librarian nodded and signalled her to follow him. He led her through the maze of bookshelves to where Nalser was. Currently there were several different books laid out on the table and Nalser was scribbling something on the paper.
The paper was written in 3 languages, so Mei looked at it very confusedly. Nalser actually acquired the habit of writing in English, like his Grandpa taught him, in Modern Era universal language and in the Ancient Era language. The only person who could understand his notes was probably only he himself. Nalser was currently immersed in the thing he was researching and he did not notice Mei closing in. Librarian also couldn’t leave her here alone with Nalser like this, so he tapped on Nalser’s shoulder to bring him back to reality. When Nalser saw Librarian, he was initially confused, since Librarian never interrupted him like this. However, when he saw the person Librarian was pointing towards, he understood. Nalser dismissed Librarian and turned to Mei. “Three days haven’t passed yet. Heck even one day hasn’t passed yet, are you sure you have thought it completely through?”
Mei just nodded and said, “Yes and I have decided to accept young master’s proposal. Actually, there was no need to debate over this. If I go back to the clan like this only my Father, Mother and Brother, some loyal retainers will care about me, the rest would try to exploit me as an incubator. What young master offered me was a way to survive, I would accept even if young master had wanted me to become your slave.” Nalser was very surprised. Not that she accepted but that she would even be willing to be his slave.
Nalser looked towards her with a new glance and could only sigh, “Are Ancient Cultivation methods truly that precious that you need to lower yourself like that. Any ways, who are you calling Young Master all the time? My name is Nalser and you can just call me that in the future.” Mei immediately bowed and refuted, “How can I lower Young Master’s status like that. It is as obvious as day that you have extra ordinary status.” Nalser just stared at her blankly and said in a dull tone, “I just inherited this place as a Legacy. Before that I have had no contact with other people besides my Grandpa. Trust me, I am no Young Master. Well, now that you know the truth are you going to reconsider?”
Mei looked stupefied as she asked, “Did your white hair get taken as a bad omen and you were excluded from the clan?” Nalser looked at her stupidly as he asked, “What white hair?” Mei just answered, “Your hair is as white as snow. Some lower clan take these signs as an ill omen.” Nalser immediately stood up and started looking for a mirror but couldn’t find one.
Finally, with having no better option, he took a bowl full of water to act as a mirror. When he finally saw his pure white hair, he was stupefied. He had no idea, when his hair had turned white. He remembered that at the school he was summoned in, he had blonde hair but since there was no mirror on this god forsaken island, he hadn’t noticed his hair had changed colour. He was stupefied by the change and went to grab Librarian. He didn’t wait for him to ask him anything but directly held him by the scruff as he yelled at him, “Why the Fucking Hell is my hair as white as snow?!” Librarian answered in an emotionless voice, “Master’s hair turning white was a side effect of the Baptism. Since the unbearable pain brings the person close to the edge of insanity, their hair usually turns white for some reason. This is something that is yet to be proven as to why it happens.”
Nalser let down Librarian and he sighed, “Will my hair ever turn back to normal?” Librarian just answered, “No, it will not turn back and dying it will not help either as the dye will fade away with time.” Nalser just face palmed himself. Months had passed since the Baptism and he noticed something this eye catching only now. That was also thanks to Mei asking about it. If she had not asked about it, he probably wouldn’t have figured out before it was too late.
Thinking about it he realized that he left Mei in the middle of the Library alone. He immediately rushed back to find Mei standing where he left her. She had not moved an inch yet. This made Nalser a tad worried as he asked, “Would you like to sit?” Mei staggered towards one of the chairs Nalser pointed towards and took a seat. She looked towards Nalser with resolved face and asked, “Would it be possible to ask you to take my clansmen under the same conditions as me?”
She was currently betting on the fact that Nalser needed help killing that person, so she would be able to get her family and their loyal retainers out of that snake hole clan only cares about benefits. Nalser was taken aback by the proposal but then asked in a suspicious tone, “How many people are we talking about? And why?” Mei cast her head down and said, “About 50-100 people. They are my families loyal retainers. Through the passage of time our clan has grown too big so it has become a snake hole where plots of rebellion are a common thing. My father has had the idea of leaving for a long time now but we have had no place to go. Also me being a Special Body, also didn’t help, since they don’t have the power to protect me by themselves.”
Nalser thought about it for a second and said, “Okey let’s do it like this. You will talk about this plan to your father but don’t mention anything regarding the Ancient Cultivation method or something. Just say that my backing is extremely strong. Also I will be the one to screen the people that you want to take along, just in case. Deal?” This kind of a situation was beneficial to both parties. Nalser needed loyal subordinates and Mei’s family needed a safe place to come and live at. Since this was in their both interest, Meei just nodded, “Okey, we will do that. But can I say that you were the one who saved me from the Golden Branch?”
Nalser thought for a second and nodded.
