Chapter 34: Awe

Chapter 34: Awe

Noctis had just enough self control left to pick up her body, and close her eyes. He brought it over to a spot underneath a large tree, where she would remain until he got back. If Exidium was saying anything, his words were falling upon deaf ears. Noctis’ bloodlust covered the entirety of the realm. Nobody was able to escape the feeling of his rage, no matter how far away they were.

The group had felt it, and sensed the familiarity. Chills went up their spines as they thought of the possible situations that could have triggered Noctis’ temper, when they had always seen him as calm, cool, and collected. They agreed that it had something to do with Lux, but they didn’t know that she was dead.

Noctis had long since fallen into a state of depravity. He left Lux behind and would come back for her later. His figure wasn’t able to be seen by almost anyone. He was a blur and was moving towards the position of the epicenter of the shock. It was definitely man made, and Noctis would kill whoever caused it.

He didn’t know that the kingdom was in the middle of attacking the city. They had launched a large scale attack, and all used their magic to fire at the city walls. The shock was caused by the city walls falling down. 10,000 soldiers were flooding into the city killing anyone in their way. They had set the time to attack when the adventurers were usually out of the city, so their main force of defense wasn’t there.

Noctis sensed the large force of soldiers and headed right for them. He didn’t bother putting on his armor, because if possible he didn’t want to survive the fight. He could just use magic to kill them all instantly, but that would be painless. He wanted them all to experience true terror, helplessness, and the amount of pain he was feeling right now.

His icy blue eyes were putting everyone in his sight to death. He landed in front of them all in nothing but a pair of pants and shoes. The soldiers were going to laugh in his face, but they sensed that the bloodlust that was released earlier was coming right from the boy that had just dropped from the sky. His muscles were twitching in anticipation. The left arm was holding Oblivion, because that’s the only thing that Lux had physically given him.

Noctis currently lacked any and all self control. He charged into the large group of people and let his daemon blood indulge itself in battle. At first the soldiers thought of it as no big deal, there were a lot of them and one of him. Then the first line encountered him. When they moved in to attack, with a flash, a majority of them had died or been injured.

A black aura was seeping through his pores, soon to blot out the sun. Noctis was smiling, but at the same time, he was crying. Crying tears of blood. With every stroke of his sword, there were more soldiers dead on the ground. No matter how skilled he was, he wasn’t taking care of himself. Soon enough any soldier he didn’t kill right away left a mark on his body.

Covered in cuts and blood, he kept fighting. After about an hour he had already put two thousand soldiers to death. The group had long since arrived to try and defend the city, only to find a daemon in human flesh, killing a mountain of soldiers with each step that he took. Paying no heed to his injuries, he continued to kill. If they were to join and defend with him, they were unsure if he was going to recognize them as the same side.

They had an idea of who it was, but couldn’t truly believe that Noctis was this frightening. After the initial hour, he was already covered in blood. Whether it was his own blood or theirs, was unknown.

Noctis’ wounds began closing. The daemon blood was thriving off the ensuing slaughter, and could heal him at a rapid pace. He was like a deity, walking through the enemy, each step bringing slaughter. Driven by pure madness and hatred, he called upon Oblivion to provide him with more power. The black sword was dyed crimson and soon absorbed all the blood.

Humanity meant nothing to him while he was in the state of madness. Revenge was the only thing on his mind, as his beloved was killed by them. Anger and regret. He was becoming less and less human as Oblivion was absorbing more and more blood. More and more power was flowing into him, as the ground under his feet began to crack under the pressure he was emitting.

The soldiers soon realized that there was nothing that they were going to be able to do to this man, no, this daemon who had already annihilated half their forces in 3 short hours. The general began to signal for retreat. Before he could do anything, Noctis appeared before him and found it funny that they thought they had the chance to leave.

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

“Die.” The voice almost didn’t belong to Noctis. It was laced heavily with bloodlust. All he cared for was gone, leaving an empty shell behind that only cared for killing. Without the general, the soldiers formations began to collapse.

For the first time he was going to invoke a spell that solely belonged to the daemon blood. He slammed his right fist into the ground and the earth around him began to bend and twist. Nobody who was around the 1 mile radius of the shockwave was left standing. Hell’s Might. It was a spell that increased his own physical prowess by 10 fold, and caused the sight of him to call upon the deepest fears within someone’s heart. Death was the most common of these fears, and it was about to come true for all of them.

For the sake of letting nobody escape, he also casted Dark Domain and Dark Pulse. None of the soldiers that were trapped within had a hope of escape. They all were fated to die by that blade. The shining black sword, had almost become one with the black limb. Killing them almost one sidedly now. There was no hope for them to resist.

After 10 minutes of killing them one sidedly, he grew bored. If they don’t put up a fight then there’s no point to fighting. He wanted to end it. Broken Stars. This one was twice the size of the one Exidium had used all those years ago. The mini star was bright, shining through the dark miasma that had been produced by Noctis. He slammed both his hands on the light, crushing it. A shockwave was reverberating through the air, and then he opened his hands. The end of their lives came without a second warning. There was a wave of black light that passed through all the remaining soldiers, and then they all died a meaningless death. Incinerated, left without any remains.

Each of these soldiers were someone’s brother, someone’s father, someone’s husband. None of them were going to go back home to provide for them. They were destroyed one sidedly by a single person. Not that he could be considered much of a person anymore. None of this mattered to Noctis. He felt empty inside, now that all those who caused the death of Lux were now dead. He served his justice, and then disappeared from sight.

All who watched were staring in disbelief. The force that was about to destroy their home, was put to death without much resistance, by one person. That person was gone the moment the fight ended, leaving nothing but blood behind. The misama released the second he faded from their sight, and the sky was dyed red with blood. They would forget about his viscous methods, and only remember him as their savior.

Noctis appeared next to the body of Lux. Even though it happened hours ago, her body was still warm. He was tired. Whenever the daemon blood was in control for a long period of time, his body was put under a lot of stress. He put her in his arms and then wanted nothing more than to rest.

When he opened his eyes again he was in the Starless World. He stared at Exidium with eyes of despair, and hatred. He hadn’t bothered to notice the body of Lux was also brought to the Starless World.

“Look what you’ve gone and done boy. There’s barely any human left to you.” Noctis looked at himself. His muscles had grown by a lot, and he was taller. Not only that, but his magic power felt much stronger. But in doing so, he forsook most of his humanity, leaving the contract weak.

“Why did you make her do it?” Normal tears were flowing as he picked up her body and started to cradle it.

“Boy. Listen to me. This is my fault, so I plan on taking responsibility for it. Because the contract is so weak, I can forcibly break it and then use my life force to revive her and facilitate the fusion. But in doing so I will die.”

Noctis’ eyes shot open and in his mind he didn’t know what he wanted. Exidium was like his real father, and had been there for him for the most part over the past 7 years. But on the other hand, he loved Lux more than anything in the world. He was stuck.

“You don’t have a choice in this matter. This old dragon has experienced countless lifetimes.” Noctis kept on crying, but for a different reason. “You’ll keep the power that was granted from the contract. It’s fused into your daemon magic, and cannot be easily removed. You’re also going to inherit this world.” He touched the tip of his claw to Noctis’ forehead, and the world was now his to command. “Walk tall, my son.”

He touched his claw into the middle of Lux’s collar bone, and disappeared from existence. The marks on Noctis’ back faded away, and a new mark was found were the claw touched. It was a dragon. Small, but the scales weren’t black like Exidium’s. They were a shimmering white, that had belonged to him a long time ago.

After a few moments, Lux’s eyes shot open once again, and she was gasping for air.
