Chapter 3: Contract

Chapter 3: Contract

“Boy, do you want the power to turn over this corrupt world?”

Never would I have imagined that my consciousness would be taken to another world where nothing but a starless night awaited me. The voice was calm and clear of arrogance.

“What are you?” I asked almost instinctively.

“Me? I’m known as many things, but not by many people.” His voice resounded throughout the quiet world. “If you have the will to purify this world then I have the power you seek. If you plan on being just another tool to be used like your father then leave this place and never speak a word of what’s happened.”

My father had a rather poor quality beast contracted, so we lived our lives in poverty. But the fact that we were poor never made me sad, as long as I had my mother and father we were happy. However when a noble took a liking to my mother, my father was forced into the military and died on the frontlines a couple weeks later. I was sold into slavery and my mother was taken by that noble scum. Just thinking about it made my blood boil. My family was ripped apart on a whim because my mother was beautiful and unique with her silver hair.

“Shut up! You never knew my father! He was a lot stronger than me, but not even he could stand up to those tyrants!” I feel anger begin to bubble out. It’s been quite some time since I lost my temper like that.

“Boy will you change this world or not?” He asked for what I figured was the last time.

I don’t want to fall victim to this unfair world. I don’t want to leave my fate to the kingdom. I will create a world where strength isn’t law. Where people can live in peace. I will usher a new era by destroying the old. “I will purge the corruption from this place.”With those words, a gateway to a new life waited for me.

The voice resounded once more. “The contract has been made. I, Exidium, swear fealty to Noctis Lucifer, as long as the contract holds, my power is yours.”

The words came into my head as I said without thinking, “And I, Noctis Lucifer, Acknowledge this contract and will swear to use your power to change this world.”

Once these words were spoken the voice revealed itself to be a menacing black dragon. He was a colossus. There’s no other way of putting it. The dragon was completely covered in jet black scales. His wingspan was probably around 1,000 feet all together. The scarlet eyes stuck out as they stared into my soul. Every other part of his body matched his wingspan. To say he was a monster, wouldn’t allow people to know the true extent of how awesome he was. If he wanted to he could squash me like an ant and not even know if I was dead or not.

He raised an arm and touched my forehead with a single claw. Pain resounded throughout my body as I could feel the mark of the contract being tattooed onto my back, arms and legs. It wasn’t only that, but the very essence of my body was being reborn. Cell by cell, my entire body was reconstructed to be able to withstand the might of the dragon.

“The mark is unique to only me. The wings are on your back while the head of the dragon is only your neck. The arms and legs scale each one of your limbs respectively.” His voice boomed throughout the quiet world. Even though I wasn’t capable of much thought, I still perceived what he was trying to say with ease.

My skin was crawling from the power of the dragon. The slave symbol on my hand melted away and was replaced with the dragon’s claw. It felt as if my nerves were about to be fried by the overwhelming sensation of agony that was igniting every part of my body. I appeared back in the church once the pain had ended. I got up and shook my head around, trying to determine whether this was a dream or not. Then everything went black and I was back in the dragon’s world.
