The cheating boyfriend

The cheating boyfriend

Richard knocked on the door for the seventh time and continued waiting, growing mildly impatient. After another round of knocking and 5 more minutes of waiting, he decided to open the door himself. He fished out the keys from his pocket and unlocked the door.

"Jane! Are you there?" Richard asked loudly.

As he entered the house, Richard noticed the lights in the bathroom. His man instincts took over and he slowly peeked into the shower. Before he could get a glance of the inside though, his ears caught the faint sound of jazz, sending a shiver down his spine. Suddenly he felt a heavy hand firmly land on his shoulder. He turned around and reflexively let out a gasp.

The girl in front of him looked amused at his reaction, the glee in her eyes being a testimonial to the satisfaction she gained from doing that little stunt.

Catching his breath, Richard yelled, "Oh my god! Don't jump-scare me like that!"

"And what was I supposed to do, pup? Let you see my sister take a shower?", she asked unapologetically.

From her confident demeanor and smug smile, Richard realized who this girl was. He quickly changed his attitude towards the girl to one of nonchalance.

"I mean, she is my girlfriend, I don't see a problem with that." He shrugged, emphasizing his view on the matter.

"Is that so? I am sorry for being overprotective." The girl said as her eyes widened and her eyebrows arched, making an overexaggerated look of surprise. Richard sensed enormous amounts of sarcasm in just that one sentence, enough to give comedians a run for their money.

"You don't mean it." He pointed out.

"Of course, I don't."

Just noticing something else, the boy decided to steer the topic. "Looks like you are bothered about me laying my perverse eyes on your sister, but you don't seem to have any reservations in that aspect?"

He gestured at Emma, who wore nothing but a soaked bath towel that barely covered her. As soon as he pointed that out, Emma immediately dropped the towel to the floor. While Richard found it hard to make eye contact with her, he knew that was what she aimed for to begin with. She loved seducing him.

"Oh no! And now pup has seen me naked!" Emma spoke with theatrical tension. "How is pup going to compensate me for this?"

"You sound like a middle-aged man returning damaged goods at a grocery store," Richard said dryly.

"I don't care about how I sound, pup. Where is my COM-PEN-SA-TION?" She asked as she stepped closer, leaning in on the boy with a mischievous smile.

"What is it that you need?"

Emma leaned closer, her soaked body touching his. She stood on her toes and sultrily whispered into his ear, "A kiss."

"On the cheek?"

"Lips." She replied.

"Forehead" Richard bargained.

Emma took a step back and narrowed her eyes at Richard.

Reading her expression, the boy decided to play the game as well. "Fine. A peck on the lips."

"French," Emma said with an unchanging expression.

"I guess you sisters will have to figure something out after this.", finishing his sentence, he threw his arms around her, pulling her in. His head tilted and his lips reached out for hers. The two stood there, enticed by their love for the other, forgetful of their bodies and awakened in their soul. Time seemed to come to a standstill and the universe went quiet for it feared to disturb the couple. It was only after what felt like an eternity that their lips separated and they were pulled back into reality.

Emma stepped back and her eyes closed for a moment. When they opened, her expression changed from one of serenity to a blank gaze. The emptiness in her expression changed quickly into a pout, "How dare you kiss her, Ricky?". Richard picked up the cues from her change in tone and body language.

He made an exaggeratedly defeated look. All of a sudden his nonchalant façade broke and emotions and tone flowed into his dialogue as he said, "I had no other choice, cupcake. She drove me into a corner." He faked a sad face and wiped a non-existent tear off his cheek.

"Very funny. I was observing all the while. To me, it looked like you jumped at the opportunity to kiss her."

"Before I explain myself, you might want to wipe yourself, or you might catch a cold," Richard said, sneakily buying himself some more time to think of a way to deal with Jane's envy.

The girl looked down at herself and instantly all the confidence in her drained. She panicked at the sight of her naked body. Grabbing the towel from the floor, she maneuvered herself back into the bath with a squeal, whilst her face and ears grew hot from her embarrassment.

Richard etched her expression into his memory. That expression was why he once fell in love with her. He had no doubt he would fall again if time rolled back to that day.

Richard heard the faint jazz music stop and a minute later Jane returned to the couch. He found himself at ease now that the music had stopped. He couldn't help but be anxious when he heard jazz because he associates jazz with Emma. And if he heard his girlfriend listening to it, it meant she was stressed enough to bring her to alter out.

Jane reached for her boyfriend and snuggled into his warmth.

"What happened Jane?" He asked, his mind fixated on being as gentle as possible.

"You mean about Emma?" Jane asked melancholically. Her boyfriend nodded in affirmation. Jane hugged the boy tighter. "My boss was a little mean to me today at work. That’s all."

The boy kissed the girl's forehead and softly uttered, "I'm here for you. You will be fine."
