"A human, but how can a human control a monster," asked Michael.

"It is possible just like my gene aura that can control lightning and use magic particles in the air to create, or like your partner who can heal people. There are types of auras that have the power to control the monsters," answered Greybeard.

"What kind of Aura's can do this?" asked Aria.

"I do not know. I only have heard about this type of aura. We might need to go back and inform everyone in the Black Lore City about this," Greybeard started moving towards the city.

Everyone followed behind him. No one wants to risk their lives without knowing what they are facing. On their way back, they did not see any monsters. The path was clear like it was when they entered the forest. Suddenly, they heard sounds coming from all the direction.

"Monsters are besieging us from all sides," yelled Chris.

"What! Where did the monsters come from?" exclaimed Mellow.

"Everyone gets into the formation. We can get our answers later on." Greybeard activated his gene aura.

Michael and Emily took the front, Mora and Mellow went to the rear, with Aria and Greybeard in the centre. While Chris and Anna also activated their gene lock and went invisible.

The moment the monsters come into the range of their gene guns, they started firing. With the help of lightning aura from Greybeard, the damage monsters were taking increased, plus the life aura from Aria helped them to rejuvenate their gene spirit.

"We will be unable to kill all of them, we need to make a run from one side," said Michael.

"Chris and Anna try to find in which direction we can try to make a run," asked Greybeard.

Anna went towards the route to the city and Chris went to the route they come from to find openings. After a while, they both come back.

"There are no openings in the front, I can make a run but maybe not you guys," informed Anna.

"We do have an opening if we try to run back," informed Chris.

"So, are we going back to the forest? Or try to fight them until the end?" asked Greybeard.

'Let's go back to the away we come from and try to find a different route," said Michael.

Everyone acknowledged that this is the best option, so they started changing their formation to make a run. Emily moves in with Mora and Mellow, while Michael is now in the rear with Chris and Anna. Still, in their invisible state. Chris and Anna took the left and right sides respectively around Michael.

Everyone started to run towards the route they come from. After a few minutes when the monsters in the rear started to come closer to Michael. Chris and Anna used backstab to kill the monsters and removed their invisible form. Now, monsters have to fight 3 people in the read, Chris and Anna got their knife and Michael has its gene gun.

After running for more than 15minutes, they are finally able to leave the horde of monsters behind.

"Let's go before any more monster comes, we were in luck that only tier-1 and 2 targeted us," said Greybeard.

"But which route do we take now," asked Mora. "We cannot take the normal route."

"We will go around the ruin," said Greybeard with a heavy sigh.

"We still do not know what happened to last ruin exploration team. It will be too dangerous to take that route," said Mellow

"I do not think we have any other option. All the groups have already cleared the area around the ruin. We will not meet any monster there," said Michael.

Everyone started to consider the idea. They still do not know where is the human, who is controlling the monsters. Or is it a human, not some tier-4 monster?

"I think it will be fine since we are only going around the ruin, not in the ruin," said Greybeard.

In the end, everyone agreed. They all started to move towards the ruin. They have not noticed a single monster so far. Chris and Anna took the scouting position, and the rest of them followed them.

After reaching the ruins, they saw everything around them is barren. Looks like no one has come back to ruin since the last team went missing. By the time they reached ruin, it has been almost night. So, they decided to camp outside the ruin, with everyone going for night watch in pairs. The first pair was Michael and Mora.

While everyone went to sleeping, Michael and Mora remain awake.

Michael and Mora coincidently started to think the same thing. Is there is a connection between the horde of the monster and the ruin?

"Were you in shock when you saw Chris and Anna going invisible," asked Mora to break the silence.

"Yes, at first. I thought they have unlocked knives as their gene weapon, and that's why they choose to become assassins. But it turned out they have special abilities," said Michael.

"Do you think both the City Council and Roger's Family know about it, that's why they sent special gene users on the mission," asked Michael.

"It could be, after all, the scout that went missing was from City Council, and both City Council and Roger's Family belong to Ministry. Maybe they do know something," said Mora "I even thought it was even stranger when I noticed that we have two aura users and two special ability users on our team, out of the eight people. I thought even you guys know something, but it looks like things are stranger than I thought,"

Author's Note: - Gene Guns and Gene Aura are special abilities that every human unlocks once they reach the age of seven. Unlocking a weapon as gene ability is the most common ability to be unlocked.
