The Paw Patrol took Jasiri and the escape pod back to the Lookout while parts of the ship were still crashing to the ground. The main part of the ship was only about three hundred feet above the ground at this point, but fortunately it looked like it wasn't going to land on Adventure Bay itself, but was veering towards one of the nearby mountains (not Jake's Mountain) and probably wouldn't be an immediate danger for anyone. On the way, they had to swerve to the side occasionally times to avoid pieces of flaming wreckage from the ship that had landed on the road in front of them. Skye's helicopter almost got hit once, but thankfully she saw it in time and dodged it. They made it to the Lookout without much trouble besides from that. When they arrived, they immediately brought Jasiri inside and Marshall examined her injuries more extensively using his x-ray to search for internal injuries. They would have taken her to Katie but she was out of town because of a family emergency. Marshall and the others became increasingly worried the more injuries he found, 3 broken ribs, a broken paw, a sprained leg, a large number of cuts and bruises, plus the various burn marks and the hole in her leg from Mayaba's lasers. Marshall did what he could to treat her wounds, cleaning them and covering the wounds with bandages, then he wrapped her paw and leg. Afterwards, they finally relaxed and tried to think of what to do.

Rocky: "Ryder, is it okay if I go and examine the escape pod? It could help figure out what exactly happen. We need to know who that dog from earlier was, and it looks like she isn't going to wake up anytime soon." He asked.

Ryder considered it for a moment, and he didn't see any harm in it.

Ryder: "Okay Rocky, see what you can do. But be careful, I don't want you to get hurt messing with it. Don't forget how close to getting blasted by it earlier." He reminded the recycling pup.

Rocky: "Don't worry Ryder, I'll be very careful." He reassured his owner.

Rocky left and went outside where they left the escape pod and began to examine it exterior with a keen eye, but it had a lot of dirt and dust on it. He quickly got a hose and sprayed it down. Once he did, he examined it further. He took in it's smooth design and it's small thrusters spaced evenly apart throughout it's hull. He also saw larger thrusters on the bottom and top. He then looked inside and saw a comfortable looking seat with several buttons and joysticks around it, along with several camera monitors and a single window on it's door. He saw a loose piece of the metal that it was made of and tore it off and examined it closely. It wasn't like a metal he had seen before. Looking at the damage the pod had suffered and for the first time noticed how good condition it was in, there was surprisingly few dents and burn marks on it considering it's rough entrance. He climbed on top to examine the turret again, and took a closer look on just how it shoots lasers and kinetic blasts, and found it was surprisingly not that complicated relatively speaking. He took another look inside and saw something he hadn't noticed earlier, spherical object on the floor in front of the seat.

Rocky: "*bark bark* Grabber claw." He said, and the claw came out of his pup pack.

He used it to pick up the the object. As he examined it, it suddenly began to glow red.

Authorization. A robotic voice spoke from the device.

This startled Rocky so much that he dropped the device in surprise. Then he regained his composure and spoke.

Rocky: "I'm Rocky, a member of the Paw Patrol." He said nervously.

Rocky, recycling pup of the Paw Patrol, authorized. It spoke.

The glow turned blue. Rocky cautiously approached the device and used his grabber claw to pick it up again. Not sure about what it was, he decided to se what would happen if he asked.

Rocky: "What are you?" He questioned.

Chief: "I am Chief, an AI built and designed by Kulinda and Jasiri. My job is to assist them with controlling their ship any devices or electronics they install me into or have me hack into. I also store all of the data they need on anything they come across. I can tell you more if you plug me into a computer." He answered.

Rocky considered this and decided to ask Ryder first. There was no telling what this thing could possibly do if he plugged it into a computer. He entered the Lookout and found the pups either pacing anxiously or sitting and resting. He walked up to Ryder who was looking at Jasiri with worry.

Ryder: "What wrong Rocky? And what's that your holding?" He asked when he saw Rocky's slightly worried expression and the sphere he was carrying in his grabber claw.

Rocky: "This is Chief, he is an AI that someone named Kulinda and Jasiri created to help them out." He told Ryder.

Chief: "Jasiri is the pup who is currently unconscious and laying on the bed in front of you. Kulinda is her owner, his current location and condition is unknown." He said.

Ryder: "That's good to know, is there anything else you could tell us?" He asked.

Chief: "I can tell you what you need to know, but it will be quicker and easier if you could plug me into a computer of some sorts." He requested.

Ryder thought about it, and decided it wouldn't hurt.

Ryder: "Alright, how can we do that?" He asked.

A USB drive ejected from the side of the sphere. Ryder took it and plugged it into his pup pad. A flood of information flew across the screen. The screen focused on a specific file on the bottom.

Chief: "This is everything that has happened in the last 2 hours." he said.

The screen showed all of the cameras and sensors throughout the ship Jasiri had taken to get here, and for a few minutes, nothing happened. The outer cameras showed the ship was in a humungous hangar with dozens of different space ships in it and many people and aliens moving through it. Then the cameras focused on a nearby entrance as Jasiri ran into the hangar and ran towards the ship. Before she could enter though, a dark form tackled her. The cameras focused more on the creature to reveal Mayaba. The other pups had gathered around by this point to watch, and Ryder paused the video.

Ryder: "Let's watch this on the large screen on the top of the Lookout." He told them.

They nodded and they piled into the elevator, Marshall even managed to avoid crashing into them since he wasn't running to keep up with them. When they reached the top, Ryder moved the video feed onto the large screen and continued the video. They watched the short skirmish (with them occasionly letting out small cheers for her)between Jasiri and Mayaba, and he how she almost blasted him to pieces. When she escaped, they began to wonder if she really had gotten some of those injuries from him or not. Then Mayaba broke into the ship and they all tensed. They watched with horror as the the evil dog chased poor Jasiri to the cockpit and the cringed at each injury she suffered on the way and in the ensuing fight. Rocky saw the buttons that were being accidentally pressed and noticed that the coordinates for Earth were among the few that were saved into the system. The video feed cut out during the hyper jump. When it resumed, it was full of static and flickered frequently. They saw the unconscious forms of the two dogs and were shocked when Jasiri saved Mayaba.

Chase: "I can't believe she saved him, she is definitely a good pup." He said in awe.

They watched her place Mayaba in an escape pod and send it off. Then she retrieved Chief's AI core and escaped herself. The camera feed switched to half an outer camera on the pod, and the other half an inner camera looking at Jasiri. Through the outer camera they saw the ship entering Earth's atmosphere and begin to burn and break apart. They saw Jasiri cry in sorrow as she watched this happen before regaining her composure. Suddenly, a piece of the ship hit the pod and startled all of them and sent the pod into a spiral. They watched with shock as Jasiri tried to use the thrusters to correct the spin only to slow it down a bit. As the outer camera showed an arial view of Adventure Bay, they saw the Lookout, and the camera zoomed in on them all playing outside, then the camera identified each of them, their names, occupation, breed, parentage, age, and a few other things they didn't have time to read. They watched as Jasiri seemed to realized there was no correcting the spin in time and put all of the energy to slowing her descent. She had some success with this, but was obviously still going to hit the ground hard. At the last second she activated her armor and she hit the ground, and the outer camera was knocked off and sent flying and the inner one was cracked. Ryder turned off the video feed and they sat there in stunned silence for about a minute. Finally Ryder broke the silence.

Ryder: "Chief, who is that dog? The one that attacked Jasiri? And what happened to her owner?" He asked shakily.

Chief: "The dog is a half wolf named Mayaba which is Swahili for "evil" Aptly named as you saw from the video. His owner is not any better, and in fact is even worse. Mayaba may or may not have been acting under his owners orders. Mayaba's current location is unknown, but he definitely survived the kinetic blast that Rocky hit him with. Good job with that by the way." He said.

Rocky: "Thank you." He said, beaming with pride.

Ryder: "And who is Mayaba's owner? And what happened to Kulinda?" He asked.

Chief: "The identity of Mayaba's owner is unknown, his last known location was the space station where Mayaba first attacked Jasiri earlier. Kulinda was last seen there as well, Jasiri had been with him. My best guess is that they ran into Mayab's owner and Kulinda distracted him to let Jasiri escape." He told them.

This made Ryder even more worried.

Ryder: "Why were Mayaba and his owner attacking them?" He asked.

Chief: "I have not been authorized to tell you about that. Jasiri can allow me to tell a certain amount, but only Kulinda could give me full authorization. What I can tell you is that he is never to be trusted, and it would be a good idea to keep this as secret as possible. Mayaba seems to be after something Jasiri has, which means he won't give up until he gets it, or dies. Mayaba's owner most likely doesn't know where he and Jasiri are, but he has influence and power with such far reach that anyone could be an informant. Fortunately, Mayaba, though he knows a lot of the intricacies of some of the most advanced tech in the universe, he lacks the technical skill to build it himself. Unfortunately, he can recruit someone to build it for him, and if he does, we need to be prepared for a war. I will begin to upgrade your network, I've already quadrupled the range of your communications and made it the most protected communication network in this galaxy. I am working to make it more protected and have farther range. This process will only take a few minutes. Afterwards, I will assist with upgrading your equipment, arming you, and fortifying this place." He told them.

Ryder: "Wait, but were just a rescue team, we help people, we don't hurt people." He protested.

Chief: "Don't worry, odds are the majority of your foes will be robots, he loves to use them because they are expendable and easy to get ahold of, not to mention they won't question his orders." He said calmly.

Ryder thought about this and realized that this was probably necessary.

Chief: "Jasiri should hopefully wake up soon, and she can help out. When she wakes up, let me talk to her, otherwise she will try to run off or shoot you thinking you are either working for or with Mayaba and his owner. Any human adversaries we come across, she and I can take care of. I will now focus entirely on upgrading your network, I should only be a minute." He said.

After another minute of silence, the screen lit up and showed the form of a robot dog.

Chief: "This is my avatar, this is how I would normally appear as in the form of a hologram but it will take a few minutes to make one with some physical assistance. With some help from Rocky, I could obtain a physical form and be of a even greater help." He informed them.

No one saw this as a bad thing, so they agreed.

Rocky went back down to were the pod was and dragged it inside where he began to work, occasionally going outside to grab something from his pup house, and in a few minutes thanks to assistance from Chief, a mobile and self-propelled hologram device was crated, and Chief's avatar appeared next to Rocky. He was extremely impressed, it looked like he was really there, not just a hologram. They then began to work on a physical body for Chief. It was a very complicated and long process that lasted two days. Finally, it was finished, and Chief entered the robotic form. The dog's eyes began to glow blue, and it stood and stretched it's mechanical joints. It resembled a greyhound with a smooth gray metal covering it's exterior.

Chief: "Thank you Rocky, you have been a big help. Now we can work on weapons and defenses." He said.

During the two day project, Chief had been multi-tasking like crazy, with helping Rocky design the body, scanning local news for any signs of suspicious characters, helping Ryder to upgrade the pup packs and vehicles, and upgrading the network even more. According to Chief, they could communicate with each other from opposite sides of the galaxy at this point. Rocky hadn't gotten enough sleep the last two nights however, and needed to rest.

Rocky: "Sorry, but I need to rest for now, I will help when I wake up." He said apologetically.

Chief: "You don't need to be sorry Rocky, you need rest. And you've earned a good long sleep." He told the recycling pup.

Rocky nodded in thanks and walked to his pup house, curled up, and went to sleep. Unknown to him however, is that several men wearing black had been waiting nearby, and when no one was looking, they quickly snuck up to Rocky's pup house, shot him with a tranquilizer, and carried him off without anyone even noticing. They placed Rocky in the back of a black van and drove off as fast as they could. Meanwhile, a certain dog had watched the whole scene unfold, and quietly chuckled to himself.

Mayaba: "My plan is going along well, as much as i want to attack now, I now have that robot dog to worry about, and I need them alive to make Rocky do what I tell him. Otherwise they would all be dead at this very moment." He snarled.

Mayaba turned and left, walking into the forest to meet up with the men.
