[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Amy Wachlund is a failure of a Mage. Forced to act as a ward of a small rural village due to a contract, any hope of making the most of her life has been lost to the endless ridicule of those she protects. The government refuses her pleas to send a replacement and she’s running herself into debt without the village’s support. This would be her life until the day she died, fated to never spread her wings and fly. That is until she stumbles upon something odd in the woods. A strangely forgotten Mage Tower, dilapidated and overgrown, seemingly the source of a strange magical phenomenon. It is there her fate is forever changed, as she learns about the lost School of Mages who called themselves Wizards. What to expect: Path of Wizardry is a slow-burn mix of progression, slice of life, and mystery though there are definitely moments of action mixed in. Most importantly, Amy will experience heavy character development over the course of the story, helped along by a cast of supporting and (hopefully) interesting characters. As I know some readers do not like it, there is planned romance (no harem) later on in the story though it is not a massive focus.
