Fast As A Shadow

Fast As A Shadow

Since I had [Analyze] now, I could estimate my opponent's level by looking at their stats, however since I couldn't analyze myself, I could only vaguely guess what my actual level was by comparing to the others.

I tried using [Analyze] on The Tower's walls, but it only showed their durability, which was unfortunately infinite.

"Alright, we've had enough rest, let's go now!" Said baldie while taking the farming tool from the ground.

We walked up the stairs again and stood by the Second Floor entrance with the door opened.

It was all too quiet.

I used [Analyze] on the whole room out of suspicion, and it turned out I was right.

The floor was a monster, or a trap, I didn't know since [Analyze] didn't provide me enough information, maybe because my level was too low.

Anyway, that thing was called "Bloody Quicksand" and its description said that anyone falling in it will be detected by a monster called "Black Shadow" if said monster is within 20 meters of the trapped victim.

"Wait!" I shouted to make everyone stop.

This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version.

"The room too quiet and suspicious, let's throw something in there before entering since there might be a trap like last time." I continued.

"Ray is right, I have a bad feeling about this too…" Said baldie, backing me up.

We took a slightly large piece of bread from the First Floor and throw it into the room.

*Squash*

When it landed, instead of rolling forward, it got stuck in the Bloody Quicksand and 2 seconds later something cut the bread in two. It was so fast we couldn't see anything. Anything but…

A black shadow.

I somehow managed to open its status window with [Analyze] and, as I thought, that really was the monster called Black Shadow.

It's a monster with monstrous speed…

Its AGI stat was 30, STR was 7 and the rest was 2. So basically, if we manage to hit the monster we can one-shot it, but that itself is the problem…

"What the hell was that?! It was so fast I couldn't see it!!" Esclamated Domo, shocked by the monster's speed.

"We can't go head on against something like that, there's even this quicksand like floor…" Said Mia, trying to think of a way to kill it.

Hmm… How can we stop that thing's movements…

Even just a second is good enough, but how?

As I tried thinking of a way, I reanalyzed the room, and found out that 40 centimeters from the entrance were not Bloody Quicksand but normal stone.

I see!

We don't have to actually beat the Trial to advance to the other Floors, the door is always there!

Since this monster can't detect us unless we're in the Bloody Quicksand, we can light up the room by opening the door, which will also remove the trap.

The problem now was how to explain all this to the others without raising suspicion…

"There's gotta be a way. The Tower called these floors "Trials", and trials are meant to be completed." I said while taking a piece of bread in my hand.

I threw the piece of bread within the 40 centimeters and it rolled forward, falling into the Bloody Quicksand and getting ripped apart by the Black Shadow.

"If we walk near the wall we won't fall into the trap it seems." I continued, feigning ignorance.

"Ray's right, there is no Trial that's impossible. Let's end this and conquer the Second Floor!" Said baldie, trying to raise the morale of the villagers.

"Good thinking there." Said Mia with her empity voice and expression.

"It was nothing." I responded.

After that, we decided that me, Mia, Domo and baldie were going to open the Trial door while the others would throw a piece of bread from the entrance to distract the monster if something went wrong.

"3. 2. 1. Go!"

Chapter 7-End.
