Exist in the world, somewhere deep inside the vast and round surface of the Earth.
Far away and separated from the vibrant, bustling cities of developing countries where people live.
There was a modern but peaceful house emerging out of nowhere, standing out among the golden colors of the surrounding trees and leaves.
With the main colors of the house were black and white. A lot of windows everywhere on each side of the house facilitated for viewing together with a large green yard and a shimmering artificial lake on the front side.
The house appeared to be a paradise for anyone who wanted to immerse themselves in nature.
In the distance, a few sky-piercing mountains loomed in the mist along with a beautiful view of the vast sea reflecting the sun. A lot of orange clouds were moving slowly trying to hide the setting sun.
All made for a stunning and refreshing scene.
And it was clear that the owner of the house wasn't just any countryside man or an isolated man but was a man with a good living wanting to find peace in his soul.
However, contrary to all that could be seen on the outside. The inside of the house seemed to be desert and devoid of people. Not a single light could be seen from outside even though the sky was about to get dark.
Even the owner of the house couldn't be found anywhere.
The only person left in the house was just a young man - probably in his early twenties and the calm type of man - alone in his own dark and private bedroom. If didn't count the pair of yellow eyes dangerous glistening behind him.
He was sitting. His whole body was immersed in a chair similar to the office chair in front of his study desk while his face and his eyes reflected the bluish-white light emitted by the computer in front of him.
Under the table, his hand moved with an extraordinary speed, typing non-stop without a mistake even though he hadn't glanced at the keyboard once and the only light source in the room was just the computer.
Frantically, trying to write anything that could get out of his head into the white, virtual word boxes of a dubious website called VeryRealFantasyDeliver.com.
He was doing a survey and it certainly wasn't his first time doing so looking at his skillful, superspeed hand. If he counted correctly, it would be exactly a hundred times he had done so already.
It was one of his strange hobbies recently although he didn't believe it much.
He remembered the first time he clicked on the link to the website from some strange ads. He just wanted something to pass time, to forget everything about the harsh reality he was facing.
But after quite some time, he found the surveys on this website somewhat interesting even though the website didn't really, honestly deliver people to another world. Of course.
The question changed every time, there were a lot of kinds of questions, and different kinds of topics also. The great thing was that it was only about fantasy, surrounding how you want to go to a fantasy world or which world would you choose if you were permitted to.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.
"Do you like a magical world?"
"Do you love magical catgirl?"
or maybe,
"A world only cats or only beautiful girls! Which to choose?"
...
There were a lot of reviews there also, from many users of the site. But just by looking at it, he thought even a child could tell that it was all a scam.
For example. From a member name, Dr. Stone Telling the Truth.
"This website is based on reality, not fake!!!"
"Go premium and transferer to the better world...",
... etc.
Although he still thought it was just a hoax that hit right straight at the escapist mentality of the poor user.
But he couldn't help but want to immerse himself into the imaginary world he created with the lead of the good and interesting survey questions.
###
After a while doing his job and finished slaying any survey or any question that popped out of his computer screen.
"Haizz..." With a long sigh escaped his mouth.
He clicked on the button "I want to go to another world!!!" which was at the end of the survey page.
And forced himself to go back to the reality he didn't want to back to as he could see a familiar message - an animated chibi angel was walking, telling him to wait "quite some time before you could be transferred to another world" but he would decipher it as " wait forever till death to be transferred to another world" - appearing on the computer's screen instead of another survey.
He stood up from his seat and looked back directly at the pair of dangerous glowing yellow eyes - which looked quietly at him without even moving for an inch as if it had seen him do anything like that a thousand times already.
It was his cat, named King. And it was a 2-year-old cat.
Tired and a little sad. He broke eye contact with the cat, fumbling a few times until he could go straight to the light on/off and turned the light on.
Contrasted with the unusually dark and empty room before. A clean but beautiful room appeared together with the cat he had just looked at on the bed.
On the bookshelves in front of him now, hundreds of books appeared. Some of them were popular Western novels while most were Japanese light novels.
But actually, that was only a fraction of what he had. He still has a lot of them hidden around the room.
His sister has caught him with red hands trying to hide them a lot of times in the past.
But maybe he shouldn't say anything...
He had lived alone in this big house for many months. And the house was something he used to cherish but now instead of remembering the good memories he had with it, all he could remember now was the sadness and loneliness he felt in the recent past.
His whole family had gone missing after a plane crash when they wanted to go together to cheer for his sister as she prepared to participate in an overseas dance competition.
He had always been here in the hope that one day they would return. But after he had come to this point. It wouldn't be wrong to say that they were all dead.
His only family member now, or maybe near to be so. Was just his cat.
King.

After a while, he turned off the lights again as he couldn't help but wallow in his sadness again.
He sat up on the bed and slowly lay down with the cat - whose yellow eyes glittered dangerously in the dark - in his arms, clutching it as tightly as if it were a stuffed animal.
His eyes looked up at the ceiling and felt a few little tears falling from it, how lame and lonely.
He should have spent more of his time with his family when he still had the chance.
Now they had all gone. Left him all alone.
His father's company had collapsed. All of his father's colleagues had left the company.
He - the young man and was the son of that respectable man. Despite the lack of talent in the field, having tried in every way to maintain the company named after his father. But still failed.
His father always wanted him to chase his own dream. But because of his admiration for his father, he still learned something about his father's work. But sadly, it had been proven to be not enough.
Although he still has friends, he didn't feel they were that close. They were just another kind of strangers. Coincidentally in the same place, and had the same job.
He missed his family.
He turned to look at the cat lying quietly in his arms again.
Even his cat had its own family.
Though it often kept him company during his little dark and sad times. It had become the father of two cute kittens about a month ago.
Sadly, he closed his eyes as he wanted to enter his dream realm in the hope that he could forget everything.
But only after a while. A black hole appeared.
