"System Log?"
That is what is written on the screen that suddenly popped in front of me.

I stared at the screen for quite a while, hoping for some kind of message to appear, but nothing appeared. So I thought, "Maybe I have to press it?"
"PING"
And as soon as I did, the screen grew wider and longer. In succession, many sentences with various colors started to appear in fast motion from the bottom to the top of the screen until finally, it stopped.
With the sudden influx of information that appeared in front of my eyes, I was obviously surprised.
"These are all... dates? The newest ones are from May 30th, 2016, that's today. What about the oldest?"
With my finger, I swiped the screen repeatedly until I hit the top of the log.
"April 19th, 1999... so Mana is the same age as me? That's kind of surprising..."
She is small after all... maybe all Slimes species are that small no matter their age?
"Hm? Wait a minute... if I remember correctly Mana's Status Screen said that Slime is her 'In-Game Species'... does that mean Mana is not really a slime?"
It could be... I better ask her later when she wakes up. In the meantime... let's see what these logs are all about.
I started reading Mana's earliest log, at first I kind of hesitated because this could be considered as an invasion of her privacy, but I shrugged it off in the end.
What I read in these logs... are unexpected, to say the least.
April 19th 1999. As soon as Mana was born, her parents reluctantly abandoned her in front of an orphanage. Then shortly after, she is taken in by some kind of organization.
"I can't read the organization's name... what is this language?"

I searched on the internet to find what language it is but I found nothing, and in the end, I decided to ignore the parts that I could not read, and continue to read through the log.
Across the span of 2 years, the organization taught basic knowledge, survival skills, and magic skills to Mana. Mana is one of the best among other similar orphaned children in the organization.
"So she is a genius huh..."
When mana reached the age of 4 years old, the organization started to experiment on Mana. They injected her, along with many other children, with some kind of drug. This drug was meant to force a specific trait to surface on these children, the trait of [Hero] and [????]. In the end, the experiment failed and many children died in the process.
December 25th, 2009. The Daemonia Kingdom, came and destroyed the organization and saved the remaining few surviving children. Mana was one of the few survivors. At the age of 10, Mana's life as a test subject... ended. But not without repercussions. The survivors all harbored side effects because of the experimentation. In Mana's case, she is affected by two traits, which is: [Mental Degradation (FAKE)] and [Undivided Attention (A)]
[Mental Degradation (FAKE)] is a trait which degrades the user's mental capacity. The higher the ranking, the worse the degradation will be. In Mana's case, her rank is [FAKE]. That means that the trait is incomplete. The effects of the trait will only surface during certain high tension situations, like battles for example. [FAKE] ranking has the equivalent in effectiveness as rank [C]. Effects of mental degradation may vary depending from person to person. Memory loss, childish acts, are some of many effects of [Mental Degradation}.
[Undivided Attention (A)] on the other hand is a trait which grant massive boost in focus which leads to better performance. The downside of this trait is that the owner may only focus on one thing at once, that means multi-tasking is out of the question. There are some exceptions to this, for example the downside will be negated if the owner recieved orders from someone else.
"So that's why Mana was acting like that..."
I recalled how Mana was rushing to the living room as soon as she was able to move, and how she acted so overly enthusiastic after I managed to catch up with her. I try to imagine what's life would be like if I was in Mana's shoes, but no matter how hard I try, I can't even start to imagine that life. So I get it off my head for now and continue reading.
Still during 2009, right after the Organization's demise. The Kingdom housed and rehabilitate the surviving children in order to help them live normal lives.
During this time, the Kingdom's Princess, Princess Luna Fulvus became close friend with Mana, they spent many days together. So much so that their relationship became just like how sisters would be. One evening when they were playing in the castle garden, an assassin came and attempted to assassinate the princess. Luckily Mana was able to protect the princess, though the assassin managed to run away and Mana herself was injured in the process.
3rd February 2014, 4 years after the incident, after overcoming many hardships and oppositions from the nobles' factions Mana became Princess Luna's personal Royal guard.
