“Mmm…”
A voice echoed in his mind, and a young man slowly opened his eyes.
It took him a moment, but when his conscious finally cleared up, he looked at his surroundings with curiosity.
“Where… am I?”
It was obvious that he was currently inside a room, but his memory cannot recall such a place. No, let alone this place, the memories he has are virtually empty.
However, other than being a bit surprised and puzzled, there wasn’t really anything else he felt. He did not feel any shock or sorrow, nor did he panicked after discovering that nearly all of his memories were gone.
If anything, his heart feels oddly light— almost as if something heavy was recently cast away.
“Who… am I?”
Just as the young man thought of that question, his vision was suddenly filled with weird texts. And oddly enough, he was able to read them despite having no memories.

Although there was a lot of texts and information, the only thing that had caught his attention was his name and age— or maybe that was the only thing he could understand at this moment.
“I am called… Li Wei… 18 Years Old...”
“Li Wei… 18 Years Old…”
“I am… Li Wei…”
“I am Li Wei…”
Li Wei repeatedly murmured his name, almost as if he was trying to engrave his name into his soul so he would not forget it a second time.
After a few more moments, the texts slowly disappeared from his view.
“I am Li Wel…”
“I am Li---”
The door to his room suddenly opened, and a child wearing tattered clothes walked in carrying a bucket full of steaming water in her hands.
“Ah! You’re finally awake!” The young girl shouted with surprise upon seeing Li Wei who had been sleeping for an entire month straight finally awake. Quickly placing the bucket of water down, she rushed to him.
“Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere? You must be very hungry after sleeping for an entire month without food!”
The young girl’s immature face expressed concern, her voice filled with tenderness.
“Thank you, young lady, for your concern, but I am fine.” Li Wei returned her thoughtfulness with a gentle smile.
The young girl suddenly froze, her orbs sparkled with bewilderment.
“What did you just call me?” she asked with a dumbfounded tone.
“Did I say something that might have offended you?”
“No, no, no! Not at all! Did you just call me ‘young lady’?”
“Yes, I did.”
“Waaah!”
The little girl suddenly shouted with excitement, giving Li Wei a startle.
“Everybody around here treats me like a little kid and would never give me any recognition, even though I am already 11 Years Old! You are the first one to treat me like an adult!” she explained to him her excitement, but that only furthered his confusion.

A familiar-sounding voice entered Li Wei’s head, causing him to look around. But in the end, he could not tell where the voice was coming from.

“What’s the matter… Uhhh... What’s big brother’s name, again?”
“I am called Li Wei, 18 Years Old,” he said, feeling somewhat relieved that he had said it properly.
“Lee Way? What a strange name— Ah, I shouldn’t be rude to the first person to recognize me as a lady; that would not be ladylike of me...” She apologized to him, then introduced herself. “I am called Louise! Pleased to meet you, Li Wei!”
“Louise, who are you talking to?” A calming voice entered the room along with an old man whose head was covered in white hair.
“Grandpa! Look who’s finally awake!”
“Oh… Young man, you’re awake. How is your body feeling?”
“Thank you for your concern, Senior. My body is feeling fine.”

“What a well-mannered young man…” Louise’s grandfather was pleasantly surprised by Li Wei’s respectful attitude. People like him are rare nowadays.
“Senior, if possible, can you tell me where I am, and what happened to me?”
“This is the Moonlight Village, and this is where the two of us live. As for what happened to you… Do you not remember?”
Li Wei shook his head. “I… have memories of virtually nothing prior to waking up.”
“Oh… So you have amnesia… That’s very unfortunate…” The old man sighed.
“Amnesia? What is that?” Louise asked.
“That means he has lost all of his memories…”
“That sounds very sad…” Louise looked at Li Wei with pity in her eyes.
“Is there any way to cure this ‘Amnesia’ and return my memories?” Li Wei asked.
“Of course, there are ways. If you have the money, you can hire a high-class Healer. If not, then you can just let time heal it for you.”
“Ah— though some people had recovered from their amnesia through time before, there were also people who lived the rest of their life without remembering anything.”
Normally, people with amnesia would want to recover their memories to see what kind of person they were like before losing their memories. Li Wei, however, was not so sure about recovering his memories. Although he was curious, somewhere deep inside him was telling him that he would regret such a decision.
“I think I will stay like this for the time being,” he finally said.
“Are you sure?”
“If my memories are fated to return, then it will happen.”
The old man did not know how to respond to such words, so he could only nod.
“As for what happened… Well... Louise should know more since she was there to witness it. Louise.”
Louise nodded and started recalling what had happened a month ago. “I was in the backyard harvesting fruits when the sky suddenly turned black with thunder the next moment. It was really scary at that time, and right when I was about to run back into the house, somebody fell into the backyard from the sky. That person was you, Li Wei.”
The dark sky that showered lightning of all colors had sent chills down every part of her body at that time and again now after recalling it.
“I was inside the house at that time, so I did not see everything. But the thundering was extremely fierce and terrifying— like an angered God. If any one of those countless thunderbolts had struck this place, then I don’t think anyone of us living in this village would still be here right now… Such a vicious thundering; I have never seen it before, nor do I want to witness it ever again.” Thinking about it gave the old man cold sweats.
“The black sky and terrifying thunder had lasted only a few moments before disappearing as if it had never occurred, so everything was fine. But such an event had traumatized many villagers… As for you, Louise couldn’t bear to leave you like that, so we took you in and had you rest here until either you wake up or…” The old man stopped talking at that point. It was not something his little granddaughter needed to hear.
“Maybe it was that fall that had caused your memories to be wiped,” he later added.
Li Wei silently listened to their story, and apparently, he had fallen from the sky. Although nothing made sense to him now, it did not matter. If he was fated to recover his memories, then he will deal with it then. For now, however, he has decided to repay these two for taking care of him. If it were not for them, then he might have already been long dead.
“What do you plan on doing now?” Louise suddenly asked. “Do you have anywhere to go?”
“I…"
Li Wei was troubled. What does he plan on doing now? What can he do? Does he have a place to go to? Without his memories, where can he go?
The old man could tell that Li Wei was troubled, so he suggested:
“If you do not know what to do or where to go, then how about staying here for now? The majority of this village is populated with old people like me, so someone as young as you could be of some help— that is if it does not strain your body too much. You did just wake up after a month-long sleep, after all. And if your memories happen to come back, then you should know what to do at that time. But until then... how about it? You can continue using this room, too.”
“I’ll do it,” he replied instantly.
“Are you sure?” The old man was caught off-guard by his quick response.
“Yes, Senior.”
Li Wei was glad that they asked him to stay. He had no idea how to repay them for their hospitality, so he decided to stay here to assist them until he regains his memories— if he ever does. If he never recovers his memories… then that would be fine too.
“Also, if you wish to leave this place anytime, you can do so whenever— even if your memories have yet to return.”
Louise who had been in the background for some time suddenly jumped with excitement.
“Li Wei is going to stay here with us?!” Her eyes glittered with expectation at Li Wei.
“Thank you for the hospitality. I, Li Wei, promise to repay this one day…” Li Wei got off the bed to give them a deep and elegant bow, surprising both Louise and her grandfather.
