Origin Online

Author Note: This is my first light novel, Hoping you all like it.

'THE LIGHT, IT BURNS!' Screamed Ren, as his Mom wrenched open the curtains.

'Now now,' she chuckled, 'You know you have to be up before eight.'

He groaned, forcing himself out of bed as his Mother left the room. He dragged himself towards the computer, scrolling through pages of comments about the virtual reality game 'Clarification'.

Though not the first virtual reality game, it took the world by storm, boasting 72% reality.

His eyes widened at the mention of a new game with 84% reality. Ren, being the neet he is, had reached the place of rank 72 in 'Clarification' only below neets with steel encased doors that refused to come out.

He looked up the game online, looking for information about it, only to start crying when he realised the release date was today.

He shoved on clothes, racing past his gasping mother who had never seen him move so fast, his long, black hair trailing behind like whips.

Licking his dry lips, he headed towards the video game store, well, what should be the video game store, instead it was a bustling crowd of people.

Joining at the back of the crowd, he shuffled along till the crowd formed into something that resembled a line.

After several more hours of shuffling he had moved exactly 3 steps forward, during this time, he had been horrified by the fact he developed a light tan.

Looking for a speed-up option, he noticed a trash can down a side-alley, it would be something you would normally miss, but after so long, he could move through the crowds with his eyes closed.

He saw something that resembled… but no...it couldn’t be, right?

IT WAS!

He scrambled down the side alley, grabbing it before someone else saw it, a box, with the words printed on - Origin Online.

He ran home, feeling like a king with the save of time and money.

If only he saw the words scrawled on the box, Faulty goods.

He ran past his mother again, moving faster than before, he plugged the silver headset into the computer, locked his door and slowly brought it down on his head.

In all the other games he played, the character creation started in darkness, in this however, he was standing there in a calm light.

‘Hi!’ a voice chimed around him.

He searched around looking for the voice, only to find naught, ‘Welcome to origin online, where you can be reborn!’ The voice echoed around

Suddenly, a blue panel appeared in front of him, ‘This is the character creation panel, You can choose from many races, including Elves, Humans and Demihumans!’

He searched through for such races, however all that appeared seemed to be monsters, you could see things as majestic as a dragon or well, a slime…

Well, the slime did come in different colours.

‘I can only see monsters?’ He replied questionably.

‘As I said, You can choose from many races, including Elves, Humans and Demihumans!’

Assuming it was an AI, he started looking around at the choices, Goblins, Wolves, Wraiths, Giants.

However one caught his eye, The Dragon.

What was more majestic, more noble, than a dragon?

Clicking on it, He started customising the scales, setting them to a deep asure colour, while letting the pearl-like eyes to gold, next he started on what he liked the most, the size.

Setting the size to maximum, he looked at the measurements. 300m long.

A slight smile formed on his face.

Then he formed black spikes from the muzzle, reaching to the tip of the tail, where there was a viscous end.

Last, but definitely not least we're the wings.

Leathery wings spread from its, or his, back as they enveloped the light, veins ran through them, like cracked ice.

As he pressed enter the voice chimed again, ‘You will start off as a child, each day will count as a year for 20 days. Then you will stop growing, take this time to get used to the world and your new body, At the end of each day, there will be a blinding light, in that time your body will change.’
