15 The arch wizard

Misa goes back to Venenia's place and hides her diary and some special belongings like her clothes under the floor so nobody takes it when the place inevitably gets broken into.

It's empty to walk through this place without Venenia being there. Her house has a lot of her personality put into it. All the details and art, the cute stuffed animals and many paintings of her friends and acquaintances. All of them will never see her again.

Then Misa takes some of the remaining gold to stock up on supplies before she heads to the portals.

Misa heads to the potion seller. She hands her some more blood of the innocent and a short while later she receives her Sanguine potions.

Now I gotta make way to the castle and find a place to sleep near there. Misa crosses the rooftops and towers as she makes way to the more upper class area of Satharak, Old Satharak.

It isn't long before an arrow strikes her in her back and she falls forward landing on her hands.

AAH not again. What is happening? The pain is immense, they punctured one of her lungs.

I'll have to defend myself quickly.

She crawls a little to the side to hide herself behind some wooden boxes.

Okay here goes. She drinks a sanguine potion. But it tastes off. She gags herself but it is already too late, her body has absorbed some of it.

Whatsssh in thissh stuff.. Everything starts to spin and colours become extremely bright. Her heart is pounding. Shadows start to move like flags waving in the wind.

Noo.. they set me up. I can't fight like this. Misa tries to stand up and walk but she's completely lost her sense of balance. This isn't good. They'll capture me.

Misa stumbles in the direction of the streets. Another arrow hits her in her thigh.

Aah the pain, this fucking hurts. Her adrenaline starts to suppress some of the effects of the potion.

She spots 2 figures in the distance, rapidly making their way towards her.

Give up Misa! You will pay for what you did to the rebels!

Misa makes an adrenaline fueled run for the streets and she jumps of the rooftop.

She can hear the 2 assailants curse and yell. We'll find you Misa. You won't escape!

A couple of seconds later her body hits the street, killing her instantaneously. Quite painless, not a bad way to go. They figured out her secret. They know she can effectively evade death. They probably don't know how though.

Misa awakens again at the temple of death, which she leaves safely then makes her way to the entrance of the temple complex. Oh right, I forgot about the guards. There's 16 guards this time. Whoever is in charge of security for this place certainly lacks imagination, she thinks to herself. I'm not fighting 16 guards, I'll just look for a different exit. Which she finds eventually, one that was completely unguarded at that.

I still need sanguine potions though. There's no use in going to the arcane portals without them, they'd destroy me instantly, I have no fighting chance. This sucks! I think I'll just go back to the potion seller and force her to make me some of them. If anyone ambushes me I'll just commit suicide again.

So Misa acquires some blood of the innocent and then makes her way to the potion seller. She sneaks up on her, then stabs her in her back.

Ahh Misa, why are you stabbing me?!

I know what you did! You think I'm stupid? Misa places her knife on her throat. Enchant this blood for me.

Okay Misa. I'm sorry for what I did. They threatened me, they told me to sell you bad potions or they'd kill me, they sent a group of bounty hunters after you to kill you.

Then she enchants the potions. Misa tries one. Her heart beats faster. Things appear to move slower. She feels energised. This is the real stuff.

You could've warned me and you didn't, you betrayed me!

I'm sorry Misa I had no- before she can finish her sentence Misa starts stabbing her in her back. Stop, please! Aaaaah!

Misa keeps stabbing. They would've tortured me! You betrayed me! Die you stupid bitch! Eventually she stops screaming. Her greenish lizard blood leaking everywhere and covering Misa's hands. It smells funky, and it's thicker than human blood. Yet she died the same way as humans do.

Any semblance of forgiveness and kindness has left Misa. She will kill anyone who betrays her. She'd love to track down the bounty hunters and kill those too but that would seem very difficult. Instead it's time to make way to the portals.

Misa sneaks away through the main castle of Nikutaun. A massive structure, where many nobles live. It is divided into a large number of different quarters and one could easily get lost. Although she tried to evade most of them, she did fight a few guards which directed her to the correct area.

The teleporter platform is located above a large library, where many magic scholars study. Fighting them would be near impossible. The teleportal connects to a teleporter hub, from which one can access many locations.

As she makes her way to the portal, she realises that fighting is going to be inevitable. Misa enters the teleporter room, where there is a wizard reading books and maintaining the crystal supply used to fuel the teleporter. He's a human, wearing long blue robes and he has a long grey beard. He doesn't look all that intimidating, he looks more like a friendly grandpa.

He looks surprised to see Misa. I know why you're here, you want to leave.

Will you let me go or do we have to fight?

You're the one that killed the high priestess didn't you? I merely practise elemental and arcane magics. I don't know how you managed to defeat her, but since you were able to defeat her, my attempts to stop you would be futile. She was very skilled in combat, but alas, she never followed orders. You however look far more stable, although your destruction of the Arcane temple seemed a little careless.

Misa doesn't correct him. And she doubts the honesty of his words.

I will however attempt to persuade you, as you have no doubt learned, Satharak, the Arcana kingdom, is in danger. We are fighting a losing war. We could use skilled fighters like you. You could join us. We would train you and you would get to command a group of individuals. You will live in luxury. Think about it, you get your own mansion, armed guards, concubines and your own private chef that will cook you whatever is possible.

Our overlords would be most delighted to assist you.

Misa thinks about it. It sounds very nice, too good to be true. It could just be another attempt to get rid of her, who knows the moment she stops being useful to them they would just imprison or torture her. She can't trust this man.

No just let me go. I want to leave.

Very well then, can't say that I didn't try. Once you step through this portal, you will need to reroute it to whatever place you desire. Keep in mind, the portal hub is under jurisdiction of one of our demonic overlords, he will most certainly at least wish to converse with you. And I'm not supposed to tell you this, but he's not a merciful being, he will likely harm you. That high priestess you fought wasn't even half as strong as him.

I don't care, I've been hurt many times in the past already, Misa replies.

Goodbye.

She steps into the portal.
