Part One: Volume One
So, I'll start this longest section by saying that this is my first time actually writing a long-form story. I have experience writing professionally and creatively, but nothing like this, as I am sure, is very obvious. However, I will lay a caveat: it was mostly intentional. With that said, I will give some background. I started this story when I was about eight or nine years old, and it has evolved a lot since then, but until 2020, it was mostly something for fun; then something changed, and I thought it would be fun and a good idea to pursue it with a little more effort (never plan for this to be a career or anything it's still just a hobby for fun which is why the release schedule is the way it is.) and with this thought I began writing what is now "Origin of Genisis" but not without a lot of problems. My laptop, where I first started writing, has over a hundred different iterations of what the first volume was going to be (honestly, that was as far as I got with actually writing the story before this, but the story's plot goes so much farther.) I wish that were a joke, but unfortunately, it's not. I was really indecisive about what I wanted the first volume to be about; I had it start in so many places and with so many different scenarios that it's funny to read some of the ideas that I had then. Eventually, I decided on what I wanted to do.
When I had this idea, which I will get to in a second, I thought it was a fantastic idea. I thought it could fill in the gaps of my inability to write while I found a style of writing that I was comfortable with, which I think I'm pretty much there, at least with this story. The idea was a pretty simple one: the story would be written with a cadence of Carter's mental state in the simplest explanation that means everything would follow, from the way the scenery and characters were described to the almost random way that the story seemed to flow everything was in accordance to what Carter's mental state was and my original plan was for this to become more evident as the story progressed. As I am sure you can glean from my mentioning this, I've had a change of heart, and I will go over that in the next part; first, I'd like to talk a little about Volume One.
The first thing about this is that I would like to say that I am having a lot of fun writing this story. I love the characters, the world, and the strange chaotic dynamic that I created that seems almost paradoxical in nature, and I really want to keep exploring that aspect specifically, but changes need to be made to most if not everything. When I started on Volume One, I did a lot of reading and research on how to create a main character, but obviously, I threw that to the wind and created Carter as a useless side character (this will change in Volume Two). I made it apparent that he was the center of most things that happen in this volume, but the focus was always on the others around him, and I really wanted the title of the first volume to be a distinct representative of not only Carter as a character but of the volume itself Useless. When it comes to a main character being written like this, I know it is one of the first big No's of writing, but for Carter's tale, it was a necessity, and I stand by that decision although I could do better and plan to. As for the uselessness of Volume One, well, there is a lot about that, and I won't say anything about it. You can just look forward to some of the things in future volumes of the story. I want to say more, but I think some comments would fit better in the next section or be said silently.

Part Two: Plans for the Future
In this part, just like part one, there is a lot I want to say, but I will not; anyway, this part can be put more concisely. First, this was basically a rough draft of the story, as those acute could probably tell by my word choice in part one; this was always my intent because I knew that I was going to want to rewrite the story but was unsure how, when, or what I would do. This decision, as I said, was always my intent. However, after the long break that I took a few months ago and rereading the story and my plans, I decided to shorten the volume by a bit. However, the ending is very, very close to the original. It is not the official ending, although I do think I like this shortened ending a little more as it allows me to put what would happen next differently, but I will continue with the process of writing with the original ending in mind. With all of that said, there are some smaller points that I want to hit. Combat and power systems are getting a slight tweak to be more in line with what I plan for them to evolve into at the end. I have an idea, but don't worry about it; you'll see it in Volume Two. Characters will be reworked along with dialogue to be more unique, but this will not be in any of the rough drafts, basically the first pass through each volume. The timeline for the volume one rewrite is up in the air. I am hoping to be done with it by the end of volume two, but more than likely, it will be sometime in volume three, and I am sure that it will hold that pace for future rewrites as well. As for where you can find them when they are finished, they will be here on RoyalRoad when they are completed, and the older version (current version) will be available for free on my Patreon. This trend will be the same for future rewrites as well.
Part Three: Volume Two
This final part will be pretty short, as I don't want to spoil anything. Basically, this last part is me saying it will be a few months before Volume Two starts. My plan is the third anniversary of "Origin of Genisis" in late July. Other than that, there is a lot that is going to change in volume two, so I am forewarning you so no one gets whiplash from the difference. I also want to state that this change was intended from the beginning. Only small minor tweaks are being made to the rough draft of Volume Two; everything else was as intended.
