Chapter 10. Blood and Dwarves

Chapter 10. Blood and Dwarves

As my war cry tore through the air. The dual wielding dwarf amplified his weapons with his mana and cast a body enhancement spell.

"I'll hold him off, while you all finish setting up the formation!" yelled the dwarf leader.

"Today will be you're death, filthy orc!" yelled the dwarf as he charged forward.

The ground beneath me felt distant as my body moved faster. I closed the distance between me and the dwarf mage. Just a few more feet and I would be able to drink his blood and restore my mana, but before I could get any closer the charging dwarf intercept me.

BANG

My tusk collided with his hammer. The shockwave hurled me towards a sea of trees. I quickly made my body heavier before I collided with the trees.

Cheers and laughter started to erupt from the dwarves "Our captain did it!" "Filthy orcs are not match for us!" "HAHAHAHA"

"Regroup, its not over yet!" barked the leader, his voice cutting through the cheers. The dwarves quickly quieted down and got into formation, the mage cast a earthen wall spell with the shield bearing dwarf as the center blocking all incoming attacks. The archers were positioned in a row behind him.

Getting back on my feet I smiled, now that I had some mana back, I took almost no damage from that collision. Before I could start my counter attack the dwarf leader shouted "Fire!"

A volley of arrows were shot in my direction, I had no time to dodge so I cross my arms and braced for impact.

BANG

I was able to block the arrows taking only light bruses on my arms. As they reloaded I dashed across the clearning before another volley could approach. Seeing that their arrows had done little damage after hitting their mark, the dwarf leader shouted.

"Archers take out your enchanted bolts, regular arrows won't affect him even with your mana. Mage cast earthen veil and shield barrer advance with me. This orc is different from the others, he can use mana!"

It seems the dwarves had stopped underestimating me and started their real assualt. But I wouldn't allow things to go their way. As I closed in on the dwarf formation, their leader tried to collide with me again but this time I turned weightless and jumped high into the air avoiding the collision and once I reached max alttitude I positioned my body towards their formation and then turned my weight to the heaviest possible. I fell like a meteor spiraling towards them.

"CAST YOUR SPELL NOW!" road the dwarf captain towards the mage that was channeling earthen veil

"I need a little more time!" said the mage

"JUST DO IT!" yelled the captain

As the mage cast his unfinished spell, I collided with the spell. I tore past it and collided with the shield barring dwarf that had dashed back to intercept me with his shield.

BOOM

The impact shattered the ground, and a shockwave rippled outward. I had flatted the dwarf shield barrer beneath me but he had survived. His face twisting in anguish as my weight was crushing him. Before I could land the finishing blow the dwarf captain was right in front of me, swinging his hammers at me.

CLANK

The sound of a hammer striking a iron wall permiated the surroundings, I had managed to block his hammers and using the force of the collision, I was able to dig my feet into the dwarf beneath me completely crushing the dwarf shield barrer.

With shock on his face the dwarf captain growled at me "DIE!" Before he could swing at me again, I became weightless and avoided his strike, then I made my arms as heavy as possible and punched at his flank. He was able to quickly bring his hammers back but I was still able to fling the dwarf captain away and using my tusk I cut off the flattend dwarfs head and began eating it. All of the dwarves faces were full of rage and disgust at the sight of me eating their comrade. Thanks to their captain they were able to escape to a safe distance from me.

"Regroup around me, when need earths embrace formation!" shouted the captain.

As I replenished my mana with the dwarfs head, I turned weightless and jumped again. I needed to quickly stop their formation. I was familiar with their formation and if I allowed them to fully set up, the mage would use the other dwarves as mana gathering arrays. He would be able to cast spells non stop and I would not be able to escape.

"Spread out, once he lands I'll restrain him and then finish up the formation!" the captain roared.

Now that they were aware of my attack, I could not reach peak altitude. I needed to just close the distance, so I quickly decended aiming for the injured mage.

"Not this time your filthy orc!" roard the captain.

As I landed, the dwarf captain intercepted me. Arrows began hurling in my direction. In order to avoid them I'd have to give up on attacking the mage. I grit my teeth and against my better judgement, I pushed my self forward as fast as possible. I was able to narrowly avoid the arrows and as the captain swung at me I positioned my body in the mages direction. BANG

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

"Fuck!" shouted the mage

The captains swing had hit me as I had become weightless hurling me towards the mages direction. It seems they had yet to fully understand my ability as the momentum propelled me forward.

The mage, still nursing his severed arm, began chanting in a guttural tone. The earth rumbled, and jagged spikes erupted from the ground, aiming to impale me. But I was able to turn my gavity on becoming heavy allowing me to come to a full stop, then I turned weightless jumping into the air and then heavy sending me spiraling towards the mage.

"Is he really an orc?!" one of the dwarves shouted, panic creeping into his voice.

"You think its easy to kill my me!" shouted the mage

As I was plummeting towards him, the mage quickly took out a scroll and activated it. Before I could flatten him, he had dissapeared.

"Fuck! I didn't expect him to have a teleportation scroll."

The mage teleported towards the captain but he was now in critical condition. It seems he didn't have enough time to properly activate the scroll with his mana, so he used life force to activate it. He was unconscience lying next to his captain.

"Hurry and use this elixer on the mage, I'll kill this orc!" Shouted the captain at the closest archer.

The captain dashed towards me, his hammers swinging with terrifying speed. I barely managed to raise my arm in time to block the first strike, but the force sent me skidding backward. Pain shot through my arm as my mana was running low.

"You’re strong," I admitted, gritting my teeth. "But strength alone won’t save you."

We circled each other, the tension thick between us. He lunged, his hammers a blur as they descended toward me. I activated the rune, turning the gravity on my body off making me weightless, and avoided his attack. The momentum carried him forward, leaving his back exposed. I seized the opportunity, turning my gravity on making me heavy and slamming my fist into his spine with all the force I could muster.

He quickly spun around, blocking my fist with his hammer and sending the other one swinging in a wide arc that caught me across the ribs. The impact flung me away, leaving me gasping for breath.

"Die!" the captain growled, his hammers glowing bright. "SKY SPLITTER!" shouted the captain

The hammers were enchanted weapons, and the captain had used his mana to activate the inscribed spells. Unable to dodge, I used all the mana in my rune, channeling all my power into my left fist. I turned my left side of my body weightless and then swung at his hammers, before colliding I turned my fist as heavy as possible to create a devastating strike.

BOOM

My fist collided with his hammers, the impact had shattered every bone in my left arm, but it had sent him flying backward, slamming his back into a tree. The collision had released the grip on his hammers, and seeing this opening, I turned weightless and jumped into the air then taking my tusk out, I turned heavy and spiraled towards him. Before he could get back up and reach his hammers, I had impaled his chest. His eyes were unfocused, and before his conscience could fade into darkness, I bit into his neck and tore his vocal cords off. He couldn't even let out a death wail as I began to eat him alive.

The remaining dwarves were shocked. They couldn't understand what they were seeing. Their resolve wavering as they watched their captain being eaten.

After consuming his head, I turned around and locked eyes with them.

"You can't escape me now" I said, my voice cold and steady.

They exchanged nervous glances before desperately retreating, dragging the wounded mage with them. I laughed as they had acted just like I wanted them to. My body was healed and my mana was replenished thanks to the dwarf captain's head. So long as I let them escape, they'd surely lead me to their camp.

The fight had been brutal, but it was just the begining, "They can't blame me for what's to come next, I have an oath to keep." I dashed towards their direction, a smile plasted over my face.

The dwarves fled through the dense underbrush, their boots pounding against the forest floor. They exchanged hurried whispers, their voices barely audible over the pounding of their own hearts.

"Keep moving!" shouted one of the archers, his voice cracking with panic. "Don’t stop for anything!"

Their breaths came in ragged gasps, lungs burning with exertion. The surviving mage, pale and trembling, was barely conscious, slung over the shoulder of one of the archers. Blood dripped steadily from his opened wounds leaving a crimson trail behind them, a trail I could follow with ease.

"He’s still coming," one dwarf muttered, his voice laced with dread. "He’s not an orc, he has to be some sort of creature we've never seen before" cried another archer in horror.

"Shut it!" barked another, his hands tremblings as he tried to maintain his composure. "We’re almost to the camp. Our commander will call for a champion, then we'll definitely be able to kill that thing."

But deep down, they all knew the truth. Their camp might be their destination, but it was also their tomb. If I reached it, they wouldn’t last long enough for reinforcements to arrive.

One dwarf glanced back, his wide eyes searching for the orc pursuing them. In the dim light of the forest, he thought he saw a flicker of movement—a predator closing in. His heart sank as a faint, almost playful laughter echoed through the trees.

"He’s toying with us," an archer whispered, his voice barely audible. "He’s letting us run so he can toy with us."

"Stop it! Just stop it!" snapped another, his knuckles white as he tightened his grip on his weapon. "We’re dwarves—blessed by the earth! We don’t break!" But even he couldn’t hide the tremor in his voice.

I watched them from a distance, using the shadows to conceal my approach. My body felt renewed, my strength surging after devouring the captain. I had not started attacking them as I was savoring their desperation. Plus they were leading me straight to their base, so I'd let them have some hope before I plummeted further into despair.

The dwarves burst into a clearing, their camp finally in sight. A modest fortification of stone and wood stood in the center, surrounded by a scattering of tents. Torches flickered along the perimeter, and a handful of guards patrolled the area. Relief washed over the fleeing dwarves as they stumbled through the gates, shouting for reinforcements.

"Close the gates!" one of them yelled. "Seal the perimeter! We’re under attack!"

The guards moved quickly, their weapons drawn and their expressions grim. The gaurd captain, an older looking dwarf with a twin braided beard and disfigured face called out to them

"What’s the meaning of this?" he demanded, his voice a growl. "Where’s assault captain Thragar?"

An archer, still catching his breath, shook his head. "He’s... he’s dead. That red orc... he ate him."

The gaurd captain's eyes narrowed. "red orc?"

Before the archer could elaborate, the forest erupted with the sharp whistle of something slicing through the air, its speed so swift that they could not react fast enough.

BOOM

A cloud of dust covered the air, I leapt toward the archer carrying the mage. With one swift motion, I ripped their heads from their bodies. With the dust clearing I stared at the dwarves and started eating the severed heads. A look of fear was plasterd on the surving assault group members while the other dwarves had looks of anger and disgust. Wiping the blood from my mouth I stared at the dwavers and shouted "LOK'TAR OGAR!"
