The General found himself wandering into the Throne Room of this massive building. Twelve chairs made of the finest metals found on this glorious world. They glisten with power as they sat on a large pedestal made of gorgeous, polished stone. Exquisite carvings of different symbols and animals were found throughout the pedestal of stone that drew anyone to their astonishing beauty. Arches as tall as mountains raised above the room and held large banners that celebrated the history of this incredible galaxy. Large holograms moved throughout this impressive chamber showing the wonders and power that this people had obtained. Anyone that entered would be overwhelmed at the magnificence they were witnessing. Even heaven’s Throne Room could not compare.
One throne sat above the other eleven. Its size and splendor easily conquered the others. All who entered this large chamber knew who sat there. The General sat at one of the chairs and looked out across the large space. He pondered on the thousands of events where large crowds of different species would fill this room all wanting to hear the King’s great words. Amazement would strike them all as they listen to his prophetic words of power. Rivers of tears would flow from all eyes as they shouted with unstoppable passion. Even the General remembered times when tears would flow from his eyes as well. “Life was wonderful here,” the General thought. “Until he changed.”
The General’s thoughts now focused on that of recent days. These “unique” nine were not what he expected as an army to take on Zeus and his followers, plus the monsters that will rise from the netherworlds. Ironically, these monsters were what concerned him most. He has heard of the creatures that stalk the infernos and has personal knowledge of one that almost sent him to his grave. “How could these nine take on the demonic monsters of hell?”
Their training began as expected for these nine. At first, their fear overcame them as they all ran and hid. It was hard for them to understand the healing power they contained and that the holograms were not real. Being thrown against a wall, shot by laser fire, sliced by the claws of a Kraken, or stabbed by a holographic sword was too much for them to handle. Then a leader stepped forward.
Tharros battled three Kraken warriors on her own. She took every hit they landed. She was sliced, stabbed, tossed to the ground, and thrown against brick walls, but she got up every time. Laser fire, plasma bombs, and even small missile fire could not stop the Aetos. Finally, after ten battles, she conquered all three Kraken. She reproduced weapons like clockwork, using her mind to form weapons for every situation in which she found herself. First it was two broad swords, then battle axes that laid waste to their weapons. Energy whips were next. She showed her skill as she easily took them off their feet. Then she got creative as she used her advantage of flight to take the Krakens airborne and then flung them against the brick walls that the program produced. All eight were ecstatic as she landed the final blow with a two-handed swing with her two broad swords that decapitated the last Kraken’s head. The General only nodded and then restarted the program with four Kraken warriors. She was victorious again. Her example was all they needed. They began to work as a team.
The General gave them harder programs. He sent them against an army of Kraken warriors. They formed battle plans that worked for each ones skill. Dyamion would lay hidden as the other eight waited for the enemy to advance. He began picking off the enemy one by one from long range which made the Kraken army retreat and regroup. His specially made bullets went right through their armor. Then Gelio sent in her attack robots. As they battled the robots, Atromitos came in with her moves of stealth using the weapons she made with her powerful roar. Eleven of the warriors were down before they knew what was going on. Then the fun really began. Tharros led the attack by taking out the leaders one by one with incredible attacks. Gennai followed with his molten plasma balls that exploded on impact. Then changed weapons to two fire swords that sliced through anything. Makarios began with exploding webs then switched to his eight-legged laser rifles. The Kraken army were falling like flies. Dunamis joined into the fun with his arrows dropping from the skies and exploding on impact. It was as if the Kraken army was being bombed. Igetis only fought those who attacked him. He dodged every attack with precision and then with one slice with his blade, each warrior fell. Finally, Filos ended the battle with firebombs that destroyed the last of the Kraken warriors.
They ran the program again and again throughout the week, increasing the Kraken’s strength. The General even sent in additional creatures and monsters that at first slowed them down. But then they regrouped and were victorious. Their confidence was growing. Their skills were improving. They were becoming an unstoppable team. “So why am I so afraid?” thought the General. “Because I know what nightmares lie in hell and they will not be able to stop it. No matter how much I train them, they will not win.”
Suddenly a feeling came into his mind. A feeling that he had felt before and fear came upon him. “Could this be possible,” he thought. “This feeling I have not felt for over fifteen-hundred years. Do I let him in?” He pondered for a moment on what would happen, but then decided to see what he had to say.
A holographic image appeared before him. It was a new face that he did not recognize, but he knew who dwelt inside this poor soul’s body.
“Hello son,” spoke the new face.
“You have three minutes before I shut down this communication forever.”
“Why such harsh words for your father,” the new face said with a sarcastic grin.
The General’s face showed no emotion. He only stared with fierce contempt.
The new face gave out a small chuckle and he began to walk around the large room. “My Throne Room. I see that it still as it was before I was imprisoned.” The eyes of the new face gave a quick glance towards the General, but then focused back on his surroundings. “Such a pity that I will never be able to return to this place. There are incredible memories here and now that is all I have.” He then turned and looked directly at the General. “I have done the impossible. I have done that which no other god could have done. I have opened the first barrier.” A quick look of shock was seen on the General’s face but then disappeared. He knew it was coming, but he was still surprised it had happened. “You should have seen it my son. It was remarkable. It happened exactly as I envisioned. The device worked perfectly.” A giant smile appeared on his thin lips. “Your brother would be so proud.” The General had to take a deep breath to control his anger. He knew the torture Hephaestus suffered trying to keep the device hidden.
Zeus then placed his hands on his face as he began to laugh and then he began to cry. He lowered his hands and the General saw the face of a maniac. “Oh Perseus. If you could have seen the creature that came out of the first barrier. You would have wished to have relived your worst nightmares than fight this monster.” He began to laugh again. A laugh of pure evil. “It destroyed three of my greatest creations within minutes. Tore them apart like they were paper.” The General showed no emotion, not wanting to give him any pleasure. “Anything we did, the monster evaded. I used every weapon in my arsenal along with everyone else in my party. Nothing worked. We thought it was over.” He placed his fists under his chin. The look he gave reminded the General of himself. “Then the impossible happened.” Another smile. “I was able to connect myself to it. My thoughts became its thoughts. I felt its pain. I felt its horror. I became the monster.” Another evil laugh. “And now I journey into hell as the monster to bring out all imprisoned within the first barrier and with that army of unspeakable creatures I will rebuild my kingdom. I will tear down all others and destroy all that will not worship me.”
The General did not speak. He continued to only stare at this new face.
Zeus walked towards him. “I never wanted to hurt you, son. I gave you everything. I gave everyone that followed me everything they desired. I only asked that they worship and follow me. You disobeyed and a just punishment was given as to all others that did not obey my commandments. My laws are just, and my word is final.” He stopped a few feet from the General. Their eyes were locked. “But I am not here for this reason. I come seeking a truce. I can see that I may have overstepped by bounds as a god.” He began to walk around the throne room once again. The tone of his voice showed that he was being sarcastic. “Maybe I made mistakes as all true gods do. Maybe sending them to hell if they did not worship me was too hard for many. I can learn to adapt and be better.” Zeus now turned and their eyes were locked again. His eyes began to glow, and his face showed rage. “Or maybe I was betrayed by a son and daughter that I loved deeply and gave them everything that they wanted! My one ask was to follow me!” His tone calmed and his eyes returned to normal. “Perseus. Why can’t we return to how it was in the beginning. Our hopes of creating a life free from danger and giving everyone all the resources that they needed was happening. Millions and millions of different species lived in these worlds of Olympus that we provided for them. They did not have to worry about evil enemies or not having food to eat or money to buy their needs. They all worked as one. No one cared about others’ differences or views. They all were a part of the same kingdom, and they knew we were here to protect them.” His eyes showed kindness, and his tone was of gratitude and cheerfulness. “We, together, had built the greatest kingdom to ever come into existence since the beginning of this Universe. We had shown everyone that our power can bring happiness and richness to anyone by simply joining our kingdom. No one was rejected and anyone could join. They only had to accept us as their protectors. Join me Perseus. Come to me and I will show you what true power can obtain. No one will ever be able to stop us again. We can rebuild the kingdom as it once was and rule the Universe forever.”

The General’s face did not change. He did not say a word.
This new face now showed anger, and he cannot control his emotions anymore. “I come here looking for peace between us and you say nothing! I gave you everything! I gave you greatness!” He was now enraged. “You would not exist if it was not for me! This whole galaxy that millions called home would not exist because of me and you took it away from them all!” His body was now glowing. His eyes appeared to be as fire. Steam was actually rising from his head and shoulders as he appeared to be burning his own skin. “I will bring so much havoc on you, your sister and that idiotic God of Fire that you will beg me to kill you! Everyone will see how you betrayed me and caused evil to fill the Universe! I will let out every evil creature from their imprison cells in hell and they will come to your home and rip you apart limb by limb! Then Olympus will cease to be a haven but then be turned to a graveyard filled with anyone who dares support you! You are dead to me!”
Skin on this new face was burnt and melted but began to regenerate because the poor soul appeared to be calming down. His whole body appeared to be healing, but he was still seething. He only stared at the General and calmy waited for a reply.
The General gave him a sly smile and said, “Your three minutes are up. Goodbye.”
Zeus’s face engulfed in fire. His eyes glowed with rage and then there was nothing. The General shut down the communication by turning off the imaginary switch in his head.
Igetis then appeared from behind a giant pillar. He caught the eyes of the General and he knew instantly that he heard the whole conversation. “He is one of a kind, your father.”
“There is only one and will always be only one Zeus,” answered the General, holding up one finger. “A god to many, but a murderer to all who disobeyed and did not worship him.”
“He truly feels that he is the one true god?” asked Igetis. “What makes him feel he is entitled to such a high praise?”
“Because he has become so powerful that he feels destine to rule the entire Universe.”
“And that is the standard given to be a god. Great power.” remarked Igetis. “Most lessons I have been taught tell us that we should learn to forgive one another of their misdeeds, be honest in our dealings and even lay down their own life for that of another. That is not what I hear from your father.”
A broad smile appeared across the General’s face. “Wonderful that you know how to tell what a true God is. Lightning bolts and building galaxies are only a small part.”
A smile appeared across Igetis’s thin lips. “What were you hoping by talking to him? That he has changed?”
“No. To be honest, I was hoping for answers that we are doing the right thing.”
“You mean, allowing him to,” Igetis put up two long fingers on each hand to signify quotes, “open up the gates of hell.”
The General nodded. “He has already done what I thought was impossible. He has opened the first gate. He now controls the demon that guarded the barrier and will add more monsters to his incredible army.”
“You told us that Zeus found a way to send many souls to hell as a punishment that they did not deserve. You believe this is a way to free those that are imprisoned. Is that not still true?”
“I can think of no other reason why, but I feel that we have to allow things to come to past to understand the reason why.” The General sighed. “He will bring destruction upon every living soul.”
“I have only been a part of your world for a very short time. The power that this World holds and the many planets that surround it, is unimaginable. I believe Olympus and its people will restore peace in this Universe again.” The General looked at Igetis and could see the confidence on his face. The walking amphibian gave his sly smile and then walked up the stairs of the large pedestal and sat in the chair by the General. “These chairs are quite comfortable.” He began to shuffle around in the chair. “This feels quite nice. The back support is incredible.” He turned to the General. “Was that one yours that you are sitting in when you sat in this Throne Room?”
The General looked around and appeared shocked that he was in his chair. “Well…yes, it is my chair. I have not been in this room for a long time. I guess old habits are hard to break.”
“Which chair belongs to your father?”
The General only had to smile for Igetis to understand that he was sitting in the King’s chair.“I should have guessed. It is the tallest throne on this pedestal,” Igetis commented while looking at the other thrones. He then looked at the General and could see him deep in thought. “You were so sure that the right answer was to allow all of us to obtain the same power you possess. Do you still feel that was the right choice?”
The General looked shocked when Igetis asked the exact question that he was pondering. “Amazing how you can guess what someone is thinking. Now that power is probably quite enhanced.”
Igetis only smiled, waiting for an answer.
The General nodded. “I feel it was the right choice.”
“Then why do you doubt.”
“It is not doubt, but fear.”
“We are nine unique individuals,” Igetis said with a shrug. “But we are not what you thought would be chosen to fight against your father.”
“True.”
“And after seeing us train and learn, none of our strengths or talents gives you hope that we can win.”
“Not against the demons that he will unleash from the netherworlds.” The General felt shocked that Igetis seemed to be reading his mind like he was an open book. “It is not that you…you are not all trying or that you…you do not deserve these powers.”
Igetis smiled knowing the General was giving false confidence. “There is no hiding the truth. You know we will fail.”
The General put a hand through his long black hair. “I have seen his power and the power of his followers, and I know the monsters that he will unleash. There is no way that we can win.”
“So, you are hoping for some type of secret weapon that will allow us to win is what you are asking.”
“Exactly,” said the General amazed that Igetis was saying what he was thinking. “But I do not know what can stop him and these demons.”
Igetis then noticed something on one of the side walls of this great throne room. He felt the impression that he should walk over to the carvings on the wall. When he arrived at the wall, he began to study the many creatures that were shown. The detail was extraordinary. The creatures looked so vivid and alive. He then looked back at the General who was still pondering about what will happen next. “What are these carvings of?”
The General awoke from his daydreaming of how every life in the Universe will end and walked over to the carvings. “Those are his creations. There were many creatures that he created using resources that he found from other planets. They were all created to serve him and his plan.”
“This one in particular strikes me as strong and cunning,” noted Igetis. “Her serpent like body and large head show me that she is quite a powerful creature.” He looked at the General and could sense his thoughts. “Do you know this creature?”
“You can say that,” said the General with a look of despair.
Igetis was confused at his response. “I sense much grief with your answer. Much pain comes from this memory.”
“That it does. It is a haunted memory that I wish I can forget.”
Igetis continued, “Still, I feel we must find this creature.”
“Why?” asked the General. “She will not help us, and she has nothing of value that can…” He trailed off, now deep in thought.
“Are you receiving an answer on what to do next?” asked Igetis. “Your face shows it.”
“Yes,” said the General with anxiety on his face. “This is something I do not want to do,” said the General. “But…I…I feel that it is what we must do.”
“What must we do?”
“We must find this creature?” said the General, still surprised that he just said it.
“Because she as something that can help us fight Zeus?”
“Not Zeus, but the monster that he will bring into this world.”
“How extraordinary,” exclaimed Igetis with his famous smile. “This creature has our secret weapon?”
“In a way…yes.” The General was now looking at the drawing with a shocked look. “It is quite ironic.”
“What was that?” asked Igetis.
“Nothing,” said the General while shaking his head. “We must find this creature.”
“And then kill it if we are to obtain this secret weapon?” asked Igetis. His face already showed he knew the answer.
A heavy sigh from the General. “Unfortunately, yes.”
“But this creature is one of his creations, correct?”
The General nodded.
“So, defeating this creature will stop a follower of Zeus?” Igetis seemed to be helping the General understand why it needed to be done. It was as if he was guiding him to the correct answer.
Another nod.
“So, stopping this creature will help stop Zeus?”
“I believe it will and help us obtain a weapon that will give us the advantage.”
Igetis looked shocked. “Wow! All that from a carving on the wall.” A sly smile showed on his thin lips. He was amazed at his power to foresee the future. “What will be the monster that Zeus brings through the first gate?”
“We will talk about that later,” said the General still looking at the carving. “We need to find this creature.”
“How do we do that?”
Another heavy sigh. “I have to go see three old friends.”
“That sigh tells me that they are not friends.”
The General gave a small smile. “No, they are not, but they are the only ones that can help us.”
“We will follow your lead, General.” said Igetis with a sincere tone. The sly smile upon his face.
The General nodded while continuing to look at the lifelike carving on the wall. The eyes of this creature seemed to be putting him into a trance. For a long moment, he did not move as if he was encased in stone. He then shook his head and then turned to leave the Throne Room to gather the others. Igetis followed.
As they were leaving, Igetis asked, “What is the name of this creature we are needing to find?”
The General gave another heavy sigh. “Her name is Medusa. “
