Chapter 1 The Mighty Zeus Lives Again

The hologram glowed a vision that was magnificent to behold. A galaxy like no other stood before him as he gazed upon the true beauty that it was. Twelve planets, all capable of sustaining life forever for billions of lifeforms, continued to orbit the two great suns while remaining hidden in the Skonis Nebula. He was the creator of this true masterpiece. The god of these worlds and the billions that lived upon them. Now, he knew that it was gone forever. His eyes slightly watered as he stared at the radiant sight, not wanting to look away.

“Sire”, came a nervous voice from behind. He turned his head slightly and saw a species knelt with his head bowed. He could feel the fear searing from this creature’s body. His servant knew that he did not want to be disturbed but he had orders to follow. The creature knew if he did not follow orders exactly, he would suffer a harsh punishment.

“What is it?” said the omnipotent personage now staring at his knelt servant from his high pedestal. His voice was one that no one could forget. The pure evilness sent shivers down every spine the first time they heard him speak.

The creature quickly arose and said with a still nervous tone, “We have arrived at the coordinates you gave us. We await your command, my Lord” For a few tense moments, nothing was said. The creature continued to look down, not wanting to make any eye contact. He could feel his stare and could only hope that his “King” was feeling kinder today. His “King” was not happy after his servants failed to stop the escape of the ones that had taken everything away from him. Many lie dead as punishment for their failure.

“Orbit the planet and await my further orders.” He turned and continued to look at the hologram before him. The servant nodded and exited the room. He then took from his pocket a small device that fit in the palm of his hand. A slight smile was seen upon his face. “Nothing will stop me now. I will be Lord and Creator of a kingdom that will rule the entire Universe, and all will bow before me.” His face now showed rage as he stared at the galaxy that he had created. Anger filled within him as memories flooded his mind of what he had. His eyes turned red, and electricity began to pulsate through him. “I will have my revenge!” He lifted his hand, and a bright light began to form around it. Sparks shot out all around. Then he heard a familiar voice from behind.

“So, you have returned,” said a figure that stepped out from the shadows of this large dark room. “The Mighty Zeus lives again.”

Zeus lowered his hand and slowly turned to meet the lifeform that spoke. A wide evil smile appeared on his long face. As his eyes met those of this new person, he slowly nodded. “Where have you been hiding my friend?” He looked up and down this new lifeform’s body, observing every detail. “The years have been kind.” His smile grew even larger.

Her eyes slanted at his comment knowing his personality. She came closer to him with her memorizing walk that many male species admired. She stopped before him, and he knew that she was not really here but was only in hologram form. “There are many followers that are beginning to come out of the shadows.” Her line of sight moved to the galaxy that he was observing. A sadness appeared upon her beautiful face. Her large stunning emerald eyes moisten as she too remembered what she had. “Many of us lost so much after your demise.” She turned again and met his dark blue eyes. “The war lasted for years. All of your followers believed we had killed you and would not surrender until all of us were dead. We had no choice but to escape.”

Zeus turned and walked over to the vision of his creation once again. He continued to stare at the hologram wishing that he was there. “Do you now know the truth of what really happened?” She could tell he was angry from the dark tone she heard.

“Perseus,” she said with noticeable tension. His head arched showing grief. “Maybe you were too hard on him.”

Zeus spun around and his eyes showed anger. She did not flinch showing that she knew what his reaction would be. “I was the King! He disobeyed my direct orders and lied to me!” He became calmer and the anger began to melt away. “My punishment was just.” He turned and looked again at his creation. “And the punishment he will receive from me will be equally as just.”

She walked and stood beside him and looked upon the hologram as well. “Will any of us be able to return to our home?” Noticeable sadness was in her tone. “When I last left during the war, something inside told me that I will never return. I have not tried to return since because there is definitely some power that impedes me from returning.”

“I have felt it too,” moaned Zeus. “A power that prevents all my followers from ever returning.” He scratched his bearded chin showing that he was deep in thought. “It is as if we are cursed from ever obtaining that what we most seek. I felt it once I left the barriers of our magnificent home.”

“Why did you leave?” she asked while turning to view his face trying to understand what happened.

“A trick,” he said with a face showing he was uncertain. Surprised appeared upon her face. “Someone wanted me to leave, and I don’t know whom.” He turned and looked upon her. “I was able to escape because I was able to capture the mind of a creature with noticeable power that had wandered into our home.” A look of definite doubt appeared upon her face. She knew the history of the nebula and how their home was well hidden. “All I can remember was I needed to find her.” She knew of whom he spoke. “I needed to find her so it would lead me to this.” He held up the device in his hand and showed it to his visitor.

Her face showed a slight moment of terror but was quickly gone knowing his reaction. She asked him with a face of genuine concern, “How can you trust anything if a power is forcing you to…”

“Nothing is forcing me to do anything!” Zeus yelled. Energy pulsated through his body. “I am in complete control!” He calmed himself and could see doubt on his visitor’s face. “I was a prisoner for over a thousand years and during that time they were able to invade my mind. But I have overcome their power and I know what must be done.” He pushed a button on the console in front of him and the hologram faded away. “Our home is gone forever but we will build a new kingdom that no one will be able to take away.” He held up the device within his hand and it began to rotate and glow. He gave a small laugh. “It knows we are close.” He looked at the eyes of his visitor. “Come to me. Bring them all here.” An evil smile appeared upon his face. “You know where I am. It all begins again here. A new beginning is upon us.”

She gave a face of worry but also of want. “This path will lead to great destruction. We will face power that we have never seen before.” She looked down showing her doubt. “Are we strong enough to accomplish this plan?”

“I have suffered more than any being in the Universe to arrive where I am now,” he said with a selfishness that only he could express. “The power I possess will be demonstrated to every creature that has, is or will have lived. I will show them all that I am the only god and only through me can they survive.” He now made eye contact with his visitor once again. His look was that of love. “Come and I will give you more power than you can ever imagine. Tell them all that they will finally have their reward. Death cannot conquer us anymore. We will be invincible.”

She smiled in the way that only he could make her. Her eyes showed that desire to have what she once had, but this time it would never be taken away.
