Five

The army of killers, heroes, an angel, a demon, and a half angel/half demon marched into the middle of Times Square, watching citizens flee in fear of the growing, black tornado coming from a crack in the ground. Dark laughing shook the ground, the cracks glowing red as blood. The sky went blacker than ink at midnight, with red lightning and demons flying around.

“JACKIE!” Zero yelled over the roar of the wind. “THIS MIGHT BE A BAD IDEA!” Jackie shook her head, determined.

“I HAVE TO DO THIS!”

The tornado exploded into more demons, showing Satan himself, as tall as Godzilla, with dragon wings and bull horns like the Minotaur. He laughed, sending waves of fear through everyone. “SATAN!” Jackie’s voice boomed, causing Satan to turn towards her. “You’re the one God sent? Ha, what a weakling!” Toby roared in anger and raced towards him, hatchets at the ready.

“TOBY!” Jackie yelled, eyes misty.

“Please. He’ll kill you.” Toby shook with anger but stopped running, glaring at Satan.

“Ready?!” Iron Man yelled, blasters ready. Everyone yelled, charging towards him. Satan shrank to their size and fought them, ordering his demons around.

They fought for what felt like hours, weakening while Satan grew stronger. The Avengers, Creepypastas, and Jackie stood in the wreckage of the city, fire and screams, death and misery everywhere. Everyone was injured as Satan laughed. “Puny mortals, thinking you can defeat me, God’s greatest enemy!” Jackie slowly stood up, wavering, and turned towards everyone, her family, as tears leaked out of her eyes. “The only way he can be stopped is by using the Sword of Eternity, which demands a sacrifice.” Everyone stopped forward.

“I’ll do it.”

“No, I will.”

“No, I will!”

Jacke raised a hand. “N-not just any sacrifice.” She turned towards Toby, the love of her life, kissed him, and whispered so only he could hear: “I love you, Toby.” She stepped backward and looked at everyone, chin trembling:

“The sacrifice must be the only half angel half demon in existence.”

Everyone started yelling, protesting. “JACKIE, YOU CAN’T!” Lazari cried, hanging on to Clockwork.

Jackie hugged everyone, crying. She stopped and looked at Jeff with a May I look. “Go ahead,” Jeff said, sounding like he was trying not to break down.

“J-Jackie…” Peter whispered.

“Peter.. Thank you. For everything..” Taking a deep breath, Jackie stepped towards Satan shakily and extended her hand to the sky.

“Child, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” Satan yelled, eyes widening as the Sword of Eternity appeared in her hand.

“YOU KNOW YOU WILL NOT SURVIVE!” Jackie nodded, chin up. “I’d rather die than have my family die.” Jackie slowly raised the sword to the sky, transforming her final form. “Goodbye.”

Jackie screamed in pain as a beacon of pure white light erupted from the sword and straight into the sky. Jackie started to glow white and crumple to her knees, still holding the sword to the sky. Toby screamed, BEN and LJ holding him back. “JACKIE!! JACKIE!!” His scream became silent, but he was still screaming. The look on his face was of pure pain. “Jackie..”

The air erupted into silent white light, blinding everyone. When the light faded, Satan was no more, and Jackie...Jackie was a heap on a pile of debris, smoking and barely breathing. “JACKIE!!” Toby yelled, nearly falling over himself to get to her. “Nonono oh God *tic* no, please…” Toby cradled Jackie’s body, feeling her already slowing breathing and heartbeat. “Jackie, please hang *tic* on! Please!” Jackie’s eyes opened slowly, looked at him, and she smiled. Her mouth opened and whispered,

“The sun... goes... down

The ...stars come... out

And ...all ….that counts

Is ..here and now..”

Toby began to whisper the final parts with her, choking on his sobs.

“My universe.. will.. never be the ...same

I'm ...glad you... came

I’m glad..you...came…”

“Toby..I love...you...never forget..that..”

Jackie stopped breathing and the life faded from her eyes in Toby’s arms. Toby gently set her down, picked up his hatchets, and started running and slicing at nothing, screaming and crying. Jeff, LJ, EJ, BEN, almost everyone had to hold him back, trying not to break down. “JACKIE!!!” Toby yelled, sobbing. “Jackie…”
