"There are more than 4 of them? How did you even get this information? Why do you even have a tablet?" Kron skimmed through the list of names, bombarding Min-Joon with questions.
"Yeah! And I think there are many more of them but I can't get information about them all." Min-Joon nodded. "The tablet... well.. I borrowed it from my teacher."
Since Kron already knew about Min-Joon's ability, Min-Joon thought that there was no point of hiding where he got his tablet. It was lended to him by his personal teacher. Private advisers or teachers are usually assigned to those suspected of being a gifted awakened. This is specially true for the transported. As for the list of people, Min-Joon researched it thoroughly. He went out of his comfort zone to talk and stalk. Public records. Victims' testimonies. Personal experiences. It was not an easy task but it was something that he felt that he could do.
"What we are planning doesn't look that simple anymore." Kron leaned back with a pensive expression, understanding that their situation doesn't seem so easy. "A lot of them seems to be from Indigna foundation. Do you know anything about that?"
"A bit." Min-Joon muttered, his face filled with frustration. "I tried to look it up but its just an organization that helps abandoned children."
"Some of these people are much older than us. Why are they still in the novice class?" Kron furrowed his brows, thinking intently of the reason.
"Unfortunately, those who are deemed not worthy to advance are allowed to continue for at most 3 more years in the novice class." Min-Joon shook his head.
"This person doesn't even have an ability. She even stayed for more than 2 years in novice class. How is she accepted in Dracanae?" Kron pondered, finding it suspicious. "Doesn't that mean that those who repeated are weak? Who are they targeting? Can't the other transported help us?"
"From what the others told me, they usually gang up on people. For one, this person Luka is said to act as a lookout so they don't get caught."
"Is she really just a lookout? But it does make sense." Kron sighed, accepting his current conclusion. "But taking into account the rest of these people, is Guson really the leader?"
"He should be. I saw the others always reporting to him." Min-Joon affirmed.
Kron shook his head, feeling aggrieved. "So I am really just unlucky that I am in his class." With a smile, a thoughtful reflection suddenly came to him. "But that would also mean that I just need to defeat him."
---------------
A number of muddled footsteps could be heard in an alleyway in the campus. This alleyway is located between the old music building and the storage house so there was not a lot of people who actually come to this place. Not known to many, this alleyway leads to one of the hidden hangouts of those people who target non-natives. Currently, Kron, Ichika, Cyrus and Adriana arrived in this place by quietly following one of their targets. The four of them are currently wearing hooded clothing and a lower mask.
Looking at their enemies' nest, there are currently 5 other people in the area. One of them was lying on the ground while another one was quite bruised and kneeling in front of another guy. The only female in the area was laughing at the two misfortunate people. The last person was Xiabo who seemed to not care and kept on eating his snack. Luckily, Lanogas or Kush was not here so the group was not detected by them.
"So you are already having fun without me?" Dacelo chuckled, looking at the person on the ground. He placed the food that he brought beside Xiabo.
"What took you so long? I'm already out of snacks." Xiabo said, taking one of the chips that Dacelo brought.
"Please let him go! He needs medication!" Hendrix, the man who was kneeling, shouted. He was extending his two arms, trying to stop the man in front of him. "Isn't what you did enough?"
Helar, the person standing looking down at the two, slapped hendrix away. "Why should you care about him? Are you really planning to make friends with a non-native trash?"
Hendrix wiped the blood on his lips, looking at Helar full of despise. "Why do you even hate non-natives? Isn't all our ancestors not from here?!"
"Shut up! We are different from them! We are born superior unlike them!" Helar walked towards Hendrix. "But you! You must have been corrupted from hanging out with them! That is why you are weak."
Kron grinded his teeth with anger as he saw what was happening. His patience was starting to run out as he grabbed the corner wall hard. Not acting right now might put the other two in danger but he knew that he can't just act rashly. "What are we waiting for? I don't think that we would get anymore information from listening!" Kron said. His voice filled with concern which echoed to the other people beside him.
"Kron's right! We need to stop them now!" Ichika nodded, repeating Kron's point to reflect the gravity of the situation.
Cyrus and Adriana understood very well the possible consequences of what their fellow natives are doing. In fact, they felt the same anger as the other two. Their fellow natives are targeting non natives who are still weak and powerless. What's more is that they gang up on them and use their numbers. At least, they should pick on someone on their level.
"Stay here! All of you! I'll take care of it!" Cyrus said before revealing himself in sight of their enemies.
"What is he doing? Is he planning to take them all head on?" Ichika whispered, looking at the other two who have a calmer expression.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
"Don't worry about him. He can take care of himself. Let's just watch right now. If he needs help then we could go in." Adriana said.
Kron nodded, knowing that Cyrus is probably the best here when it comes to a fight.
"Who's there?" Helar shouted.
"You stupid! You were followed Dacelo!" Anais shouted, her shoes then suddenly transformed. They turned into a dark blue colored metallic boots. "Name yourself!" She shouted at Cyrus.
"Why should I do that? You are all dead people in my eyes." Cyrus created a gun finger with his hand and pointed them at Anais and Helar. "I won't even need my guns for you."
With a flick of his hand, a bullet of light shot out. Cyrus repeated it non-stop, causing a barrage of laser bullets on their enemies. The bullets might not be as strong as the bullets from his gun but it makes up for it with quantity.
Anais with her increased speed was trying to dodge left and right but it was still too much for her. She was trying to protect herself from the barrage of light using pure energy but the bullets are able to penetrate it albeit weakened. It was not until Dacelo intervened that she was able to rest. Dacelo summoned a large hoverboard and planted it on the ground vertically. He was using it as a shield. But since it was not really a tool a shield, it won't be able to handle the bullets if it kept longer.
Helar, on another hand, has transformed his arms to brown, hairy, muscular arms which are reminiscent of bears. He was also trying his best to defend himself using his arms. Similar to Dacelo, his hands are more of an offensive mutation than a defensive one even though it does increase his durability and defense. "Stop! Why are you attacking us? You can't be a transported!" Dacelo shouted, trying to walk closer to Cyrus. He wanted to waste time talking to Cyrus so he could get near him.
Cyrus looked sideways at Xiabo "What about you? Aren't you going to attack me?" He could see that Xiabo was still eating in the corner, seemingly not caring at his teammates.
Xiabo sighed, scratching his head, understanding that his opponent this time is problematic. "I don't want to fight you. Can I just leave?"
"Xiabo! What are you saying? Guson will hear about this." Helar shouted, glaring angrily at Xiabo.
"Will you really just leave?" Cyrus chuckled, finding Xiabo's reply interesting.
Xiabo stood up, ignoring Helar. "I hope I could but I guess, I at least need to help them." Before Cyrus could aim at him, he inhaled a large amount of air then in a second, he opened his mouth. A ball of fire came out from his mouth, targeting Cyrus.
"Shit. I probably should have finished the others before provoking him." Cyrus thought. He was forced to roll sideways to dodge the hot flames.
Unfortunately, this also gave the enemy team time to recollect themselves. Helar bulked up with his legs gaining more muscles and being covered with hair. With his massive frame, he started charging with brute force. Dacelo finally showcased the potential of his hoverboard. His increased speed when riding the board combined with the crescent moon shaped blade on its front made it deadly. Xiabo changed his strategy and started spitting fast flaming pellets to prevent Cyrus from recovering his ground.
With Cyrus losing his attacker advantage, he finally summoned his two guns. Additionally, bracers made from the same metal like his guns appeared on him. Still, he underestimated his opponents. Dacelo's aerial prowess was not something he expected. He narrowly dodged the blades every time and he would be in a dire state without his metallic bracers defending him from it. On another hand, Helar was able to close into him and was non-stop trying to grab him. If he gets caught, it might be his end. Additionally, Anais is starting to recover which would make it even harder for him.
Xiabo was preparing a condensed ball of fire while Cyrus was distracted when bullets of water suddenly hit him in the stomach, causing his ability to be disrupted. Xiabo frowned as he saw a masked woman, surrounded by floating droplets of water. "Who are you? Everyone! Be careful, he is not al-" Xiabo shouted but he was interrupted again when the droplets stormed towards him, causing him to breath a wide area flame, evaporating the bullets of water.
Xiabo extended his two hands, using up most of his energy to fire three streams of flames. One from his mouth. Two from his hands. He was planning to overwhelm the mysterious woman who appeared before him. Little by little, he was getting close and the bullets of water was useless against his empowered flames. Finally, he was able to engulf the woman with his fire. "Surrender or this girl will die!" He shouted at Cyrus who was still occupied. He was starting to think if the girl was still alive and was preparing to stop his attack when a ball of fire exploded in front of him. It was not enough to hurt him as he was resistant to flames but he was pushed back by the impact. "You! You! You are dual attuned! You are also fire attuned!"
Before Xiabo could compose himself, Ichika appeared in front of him. "No. I'm not!" She whispered, pressing her palm in his stomach. Suddenly, Xiabo twitched aggressively then lost consciousness.
Seeing what happened, Anais immediately processed that she won't be able to beat Ichika without the element of surprise. She has not perfectly recovered but she knew that she needed to act. Boom! She made an explosive jump targeting Ichika. She arrived in just a moment with her pulling out two daggers, planning to stab Ichika with them. Ichika was immediately made aware with her heightened senses, unconsciously looking up, seeing Anais falling above her with Anais' daggers pointed down. Without any time to dodge, she was planning to defend herself with a wall of water to reduce the speed of the strike. But before the daggers could reach her, she heared footsteps running towards them.
"Those daggers doesn't seem to be protected!" Kron sensed the dagger, once Anais was inside the territory of his aura. Thanks to Guson; Kron learned that he can't easily transform weapons that are reinforced by a conscious entity. He even went to test it further and learned that it was the same for invoker weapons and attuned spells. It was some sort of a weakness in his ability. Fortunately, Anais' daggers seemed to just be raw weapons and its energy was just from the natural magical metal it was made with. In an instant it turned to powder, causing only her fist to hit Ichika.
Anais was confused with what happened with her daggers while Ichika looked sideways, seeing Kron charge at them. Kron then punched the disoriented and defenseless Anais, causing her to be thrown in the ground. Kron was watching carefully at Anais the whole time and he immediately dashed when he saw her looking at Ichika maliciously.
On the other side of the battlefield, Helar who was about to grab Cyrus was suddenly entangled by shadow tendrils. His feet and arms was being constricted and pierced by them. "Ah.. This shadow.. Your light attacks. I recognize the two of you! Why are you helping them?" Helar shouted. Recognizing the people who he was against with. Additionally, seeing that Xiabo was now unconscious and Anais was not in a position to fight, he lost his will to fight. "You should all be natives! You should be siding with us instead!"
"Why are you so sure that we are all natives?" Ichika asked, hiding her anger in her mask.
"You are with these 2 and non-natives can't be that strong!" Helar replied. "You should help us weed out those trash!" He pointed at the person lying on the ground.
Kron and Ichika finally recognized the man on the ground. It was Frode. Similar to Kron and Min-Joon, he was also taking the scholar route. He has a superhuman brain that allows him to understand things that he could personally see or hear. Meaning, it was easier for him to watch someone playing a guitar and copy him than just reading the books and memorizing them like Min-Joon.
"What allowed you to call them trash? He is my friend!" It was Hendrix who suddenly rebutted, he had enough of Helar. "What did they even do to you?"
"Are you all blind? They are just like the invaders! They would try to take control of us! Many of them are criminals. They are inferior creatures. They should just- gahhh!" Helar was blasted away by a large ray of light, slowly losing his consciousness.
Cyrus can't hear anymore of Helar's nonsense. It was as if they are brainwashed. It was not only the transported who became criminals. In fact, most of them are natives. Saying that they are superior because of their birthright would meant that all his hard work is nothing which infuriated him. "I am superior not because I am a native but because I am better than you. That's all." He shouted, scowling at Helar. He understood that he has some advantage as a noble but it doesn't mean that he would be immediately be better than the rest. "Do things like this again and I won't care that we are in Campus."
Seeing that everyone was distracted and Helar defeated, Dacelo glided towards Anais, pulling her up on his hoverboard. "We will have our revenge. You won't get away with this!" He shouted, before flying away.
"Are they insane? Can't we just report them?" Kron was befuddled. This issue was bigger than he thought. He thought that this issue was just because of pride but this was more like a cult. Moreover, it would be hard to stop them unless they kill them. But that's not possible since they would need sufficient reasons for that and Kron would also not prefer that it would reach to that extent. He was starting to think that he might have still underestimated Guson all this time. Is Guson really that capable that many people would follow him?
"We definitely should but there must be something backing them if they are confident of doing things like this in the campus." Adriana scoffed, looking at the unconscious Helar and Xiabo. "We should leave this place first and have the two of them healed." She then pointed at Hendrix and Frode.
