I loaded up the game, just purchased off of water vapor. Alternate, a game that had been blowing up recently for its realistic management system and the godlike feeling you would get from playing it. The entire game was played through voice commands, which was a system not before seen in video games.
The game was controversial on the forums since everyone who purchased it had a different scenario they started with, and if you failed your scenario you lost access to the game and would have to repurchase it to be able to play again. No scenario would ever be seen twice.
This feature was being discussed on major podcasts across the world, wondering if the developers were even allowed to do that. I didn't care though, I Ahnjuu was one of the best management sim players off all time. Setting records for games like livers of iron 4, mid flyers society 6, and many games alike. I wouldn't let a hardcore mechanic like this keep me away.
The game loaded up smoothly on my PC, flashing the logo of the company. There was no loading screen or main menu. It just threw you straight into the scenario. An interesting design decision that quite a few griped about, but I didn't care. In the corner of my screen it was a button that could display certain stats. How much divine power I had, skills I had unlocked as well as my number of followers(which currently was 0). A message prompt flashed across my screen. It read [Scenario: Revive the Xirce Kingdom.]

A fallen kingdom scenario, I'm pretty happy with this, a medieval world setting where I must revive a kingdom from the scraps of war just tickles my fancy. Upon examining the locations of the remaining survivors, I understand quickly that this scenario was practically impossible. The survivors numbered few, just 3, and the location couldn't be any worse. Unusable desert that went on for far too long. The land that they took refuge in was the only habitable land in sight, and it was barely 2 acres. However I'm not one to back down from a challenge especially when if I fail I lose my money.
Alternate has a lot of freedom when it came to choices later, but early on when you hadn't established yourself the choices were fairly limited. The only thing I could do currently was oracle. I spoke to a lady who was writing in a diary. "Can you hear me?" She jumped in shock, visibly shaken, as if she had heard a ghost(she kind of did). Quickly spewing out some random backstory about myself I continued. "I am the god of this oasis your group has wandered into. If you devote yourselves to me I shall help you restore the glory of your kingdom. Spread my word to the others. If you would like to speak again, give me an offering, when it disappears I shall respond.
