8. Joining the Army II

8. Joining the Army II

Seeing the time, and that his Earthen Shard spell was now at its level cap, Fang stopped his training.

<+3 free skill points>

It seemed that levelling up spells was also a way to level up your character, Fang thought this was quite powerful if we considered his incredible talent for magic. He put his points in Magic Endurance, hoping to sustain shooting his new upgraded Earthen Shard more often without emptying his reserve.

"I still had the title active...", Fang rapidly deactivated it and hoped to get an actual good title soon.

After doing so, he started making his way towards the point that Humera had asked his party to regroup. Fang also decided to pass through the part of the encampment where the shops were situated. Indeed, after yesterday's Quest, he had gotten quite a bit more money, pilling up to a humble 50 copper coins.

While walking, he saw quite a bit of variety in the shops, for example, there was a blacksmith, a general shop, an alcohol store, a few stalls that sold different trinkets and many more. Of all these, only one captured his attention, it was a spell shop. It truly stood out, in this mostly primitive medieval encampment, the shop was a 3 story-high building with a wonderful allure to it. Fang was unsure if his money could buy anything in the nice-looking shop but he still decided to go and take a look at the stock.

Entering the shop, the shopkeeper didn't even take a glance at him, maybe his attire would also need an upgrade one of these days... Well, Fang didn't mind the lack of attention. After entering, knowing that one couldn't practice more than one element, he went toward the earth spell section. Seeing the prices, Fang sucked air in, the cheapest one was 2 silver! 200 copper coins! This was way too much for him. On the other hand, these spells looked truly powerful in comparison to his Earthen Shard. After looking for a bit, the spell that stood out the most for Fang was the Basic Earth Movement spell which would allow him to move through in the ground. "This would've been useful to dodge the rabbits yesterday..." he thought while shuddering once again at the feeling the God of the Beasts' presence gave off.

-So, will this young Sir be buying anything? asked the shopkeeper politely, startling Fang.

-Ah, I will come back a bit later to buy something, yes, replied Fang, wanting to buy the Basic Earth Movement when he got the money from scouting.

The shopkeeper immediately lost his interest and went to another client while Fang went out of the store.

Finally arriving at the regrouping point, Fang saw his party members talking to the other scout recruits and joined them.

-Oh! you made it just in time, sugar, Golden Goose told him.

-These people are going to be scouting with us, I present to you; Ayla and Jokil.

-This is Fang, Golden Goose then turned to the two people.

-Hello, they both said looking at him.

-Hi, he replied with a smile.

The new group of five members then talked a bit about the scouting Quest; which roles would better suit them and such. They then talked a bit about their abilities. Turns out that both Ayla and Jokil are Ranger that specialized in wind magic.

-Who would've thought that the Ranger class would be so popular, Kirk thought out loud.

-What else could you expect from a class that I have chosen? asked Black Tooth, with his usual prideful tone.

Ayla had the textbook look of an Elven Ranger. She was short and had a fine figure. She seemed fragile but at the same time had a certain grace to her movements. Jokil, on the other hand, was tall and he clearly put effort into his appearance. He was very handsome and, like most elves, had long blond hair and green-blue eyes. Humera arrived.

-I'm happy that you are all on time. Let's start. Our destination is Kiryu, it's only a few tens of kilometres north of our Irka region. Now for some more information about our mission. As scouts, we need to ensure that the other teams are well informed of the enemies' location, movements, and even their strategy if possible. From looking at you, I can tell that you never fought in a war so I will teach you about some strategies we scouts use. We are the troops of king T'Irka, he governs the Irka region. We are at war against T'Kiryu, which, you'll have guessed, is the king of the Kiryu region. Any questions?

-When are we leaving? asked Golden Goose, excited.

After about eight kilometres of walking, the group reached another settlement. Surprisingly enough, no rabbits appeared anywhere near them. Humera gave them a few hours but asked them to regroup at dawn for a short lesson on scouting, before continuing their journey.

Fang logged off since it was about daytime in real life. Before logging off, he was surprised by a notification.

[God of the Beast's Curse]

"What a pain...", he sighed.

Opening his capsule, the rising sun greeted him and blinded his eyes for a few seconds. He proceeded to stretch, before sitting on his gaming chair. Opening up the forum, he saw that his post "The Guide to Levelling Your Spells" had started stalling at 30 000 votes. Excited by this big number, Boeros started writing his first paid post. Since it was about his region, in particular, he didn't expect much, but, this was more of a test than anything. Finishing up, he titled his post: "Elven skirmishes ! How to take part as an Irka's elf", and set the price at 30 cents. After the forum took their part, a third, and the government taxed the profit, another half, he'd be left with about 10 cents per visit. It wasn't very expensive for the viewer, since it was a test and the information given wasn't the most valuable. He left for school right after.
