Blood rained for the first time in the fight as I somersaulted back to the ground, before doing two quick backward leaps as I re-scanned the area while doing a quick mental recap of some of the keypoints I've noticed from the short battle earlier.
-Boss, melee, can summon up to 3 birds that can do roughly the same amount of attack. Can probably control the concept of acceleration and deceleration up to a certain degree. Takes a while for him to recharge though, otherwise he would've caught up to me even before I could reach the archer. With the nature of the concepts he use, it would probably hard for him to change directions as well. Though seeing as he has deceleration as well he, he might just be able to stop himself from overextending if needed.
He's calm and collected. Though too careful for my taste. I reckon that I would have been in more trouble had he simply ordered everyone to attack.
And seeing that he launched himself directly after seeing a glimpse of my power, he seems to be rather protective of his team...
-One of the healers can actually summon barriers, though by the looks of it, it does need time to solidify. And that adding mana to the strike helped enough to instantly shatter the forming barrier into pieces.
-One of the archers was troublesome though... He's probably dead now, sighing in relief as I did a quick check of the kill notification.
-The others... Well... I can only find out as I go on.
-Also, same as last time, everyone got enraged except for the leader after their teammate died though they seem to have remained in control and obedient to their leader...
The fighters and the others had bloodshot eyes but they didn't dare scream as they felt the gaze of their leader. Again, he ordered the group position themselves. Shouting some sort of code to execute a preplanned tactic.
Not giving them any more time to prepare, I deliberately rushed towards the center of their formation, three of the guardians reacting this time, the three activating some sort of shield rush following me like homing missles, destroying parts of the ground in their wake.
Reacting to their offensive I slowed down my pace, allowing the three Iron Bulls to catchup to me from different directions and just when they were about to hit me, I overloaded my whole body, before adding another overloaded shot of mana to my feet as I stomped on the ground, creating a deep creater on my position, purposely elevating the surrounding ground around me, causing the three guardians to be lifted airborne, and ultimately placing myself in a blindspot.
"SHIELD!"
With the leaders call, a huge barrier of transparent gold appeared around the three guardians, the guardians themselves while airborne struggled to position their shields expecting an empowered slash from me.
What they didn't expect however was the Huge Great Sword I was about to kill them with.
[Info] Weapon: Hythera's Fang. Gigantic Great Sword. Sharpness:13. Current Durability:90%. Mana Conductivity:0. +Adds 1 units of the Concept of Sharpness to each hit. Cannot be soulbound, drops upon death.
The three bodies were all cut in half almost too evenly, scattering the innards of the guardians from one place to another.
Several screams shouted before light suddenly encompassing two of the guardians who were still alive, only to be snuffed out by two quick slashes I did as I passed the two, continuing to the next target.
_ROAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR_
Four fighters engaged me as they roared in anger. The leader not holding them back any longer as he too circled around me waiting for an opportunity to engage.
Easily dodging another three light birds sent by the leader, I engaged the fighters in mellee. The four seems to have adequate experience in pinning down stronger enemies their tactics the four all carrying a one handed sword allowing them to maneuver, block and parry through various situations. Their movements even synchronized with the occasional arrows and offensive fire and lightning from their allies.
With the occasional bombardment from the leader, as well as the heals and shields casted by the healer, it didn't take long before I sustained cuts and bruises.
This is where their trap sprungs huh...
I mumbled, not really having much of a choice on the matter.
Gradually circulating over half of my mana to my body, strength flooded into me as I leaped outside the entrapment. The fighters noticing the suddenly recklessness in my movement quickly darted as far as they could, the process allowing me to pursue one of them, only to be stopped by a heavy exchange from the Leader the same as earlier.
With my whole body overloaded with a greater amount of mana compared to the last time, the leader was thrown back almost crashing towards one of the guardians.
But not before sending me 3 light birds which I could have easily dodged if not for the triangle of fissures hugging each of my feet.
*boom!* *boom!* *boom!*
The light birds all crashed into me, each of them containing a strike the same of the leader just now creating wounds allover my body. Resisting the pain, I was about to free my self before another set of fissures rooted me to the ground. A normally strong vines and branches not allowing me to make any big movements.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
My thoughts calm but hyperfocused. Making sure to take note the current position of the whole group. Though I know that I'd easily get out once I've finished circulating enough mana, I know for a fact that I was about to feel the full brunt of the offensive spells this 20 man group had.
And sure enough there it is.
As if time slowing down, I looked around as I saw empowered arrows, lightning charges, even miniature meteors and slightly larger light birds all traveling towards me. I myself doubting if I'll even survive the half of it.
'And non of their mellee even attempted to get a swing out of all of this. Props to them for not underestimating me even with the 10 plus level difference.'
'It's a shame, I could have taken down a couple more, if I'd have dodge the leader instead. Create another crater perhaps? No... The combinations of vines as well as the multilayered fissures now embedding over half of my body... It would take a lot a few more seconds before I'll be able to break that...'
I whispered to myself as I looked at the upcoming attacks, almost laughing in praise at the leader for both his cunning and might. Closing my eyes as I focused on my core, I willed and manipulated mana to rush even faster towards my whole body.
'Well it's either I die from all of those attacks, or I die after killing all of them after suffering the backlash of Overload.'
Feeling more power rush into me, I summoned a shield that I got from my inventory before raising it above my head, my mana also extending towards the shield as I braced for impact.
*BOOM!*
Explosions rang all over, fire, empowered arrows, lightning, boulders, sword attacks embedded from the light birds, even ocassional blunt and bladed weapons directly thrown at the area around me, these people careful till the end, not stopping even after seconds have passed, probably waiting for the kill notification to kick in.
But even all of that wasn't enough to break through the compounded resistance I gained from overloading my mana.
I smiled after having survived the ordeal. I rougly have around a minute or so, before all of this unwarranted my power leaves my body. Though sensing that I couldn't even grasp the current limits of my own grip, that should more or less be enough to either kill all of them or stage a successful break out.
I laughed as I easily broke through, the restraint of the vines and the fissures. The enemy group not stopping for a second even after hearing the loud laughter.
Evading a couple of projectiles as I get used to my current strength, I then made my move.
Using the aftermath of their attacks as cover, I threw the shield with using all of my overloaded might towards the spot I last recall where their mages were.
The enemy group didn't had any time to react as a cannon like shield projectile slammed towards their Earth mages head directly killing him on the spot before rebounding towards one of the healers fatally wounding her in the process.
Before anyone of them could even see and process my throw I snuck towards the nearest guardian in the encirclement, grabbing his head and crushing it like a tomato instantly killing him.
Holding on to the spine of the dead guardian, I then used it as a shield for the incoming projectiles, the faces of the figthers in horror as they saw me lift the plate armor wearing guardian.
"Restrain him! His mana should dissipate soon we only need to--"
The enemy leader, Redamir Woles commanded. This time even thinking about getting close to intercept my blow as he himself shuffled away from me. With one of their initial line of defense broken through, I leaped towards one of the figthers, the figther running for his life after seeing me carry the headless plated armor guardian towards him.
Boom!
Another explosion rang as I smashed the dead guardian towards the fighter slamming his dead ally into him three quick times, the shield and heal that came only delaying the inevitable.
The remaining guardians two guardians, attempted to use shield rush on me, but I ignored them. With their secondary line of defense broken, I summoned my sword as I easily closed in and finished off the initially wounded healer as well as the other healer who just casted the shield spell on the fighter I killed earlier.
Two great leaps later, I finished off the remaining three mages. All of them scrambling to decide if they should run or cast a spell even after as I killed them.
By this time, the enemy leader had already called for their party to spread out, unfortunately these three were specially vulnerable due to their lack of mobility.
Theast two Guardians unable to cancel their shield rush in time the same bisected end as I replaced my weapon with the great sword to end them quickly. Before switching back to my sword in one quick motion.
"RETREAT!"
The leader shouted as everyone scattered materialized something from their inventory, a Teleportation token? I chuckled as I was already rushing towards their leader even before the bisected bodies of the guardians fell.
Knowing that he didn't have enough time, the leader flashed two times away using the acceleration concept, but it still wasn't enough.
"Retreat! I SAID RETREAT!"
"RETREAT!"
The leader continued shouting even when I locked eyes with him. I closed in on him but held back just enough so he could desperately resist my blows, stalling time to give his teammates enough time to back him up.
Seeing this, rage and tears fell on his cheeks as he finally broke character. He cursed me and all of our world our sun and even our moon as he attacked me with wild Abbandon.
Seeing his teammates finally in range, I dodged the upcoming arrows, before kicking the leader sending him tumbling to the ground as I closed in on the remaining three archers.
"RETREAT! RETREAT! THAT'S AN ORDER! THAT IS AN --"
The leader shouted, his throat probably bleeding right now, but his teammates didn't even attempt to run, they tried working together to kite me, but my overloaded body were simply too strong for them to even make a struggle.
"RETREAT!!!"
The leader shouted one last time, blood puring from his eyes as he watched me finish off the archers first, before ending the rest of his team members.
With a melancholic expression I made my way towards the now kneeling leader. Deliberately brushing the sword in the ground while I walk as I took my time to observe him. Slowing down my pace as I waited for the overloaded state to end.
Maybe this one last fight bout would... I prevented my thoughts from scattering as the familiar sensation of boredom entered me.
They would've had a chance to win hadn't he decided to give up. The majority of my mana had disippated by the time, I killed the remaining enemies, if only he--
I stopped myself, as impressive as the leader had been, he seems to have no experience when it comes to dealing with desperate moments. Though I should be happy upon that I didn't encounter any further risk, I really just couldn't help myself but feel disappointed.
However flashy and ridiculous Redamir's skills were, the truth is, beside his talent in commanding, his battle experience was subpar at best. Seeing me close in with such expression only made Redamir's hatred skyrocket further. He cursed, and phrased nonsense before seeing that I was waiting for him also stood up and drew his sword.
"I Redamir Woles, will never forget all the pain and suffering and defeat you gave us. William of Asgard, we will face each other again in the future."
"Draw your sword!"
I ignored him as continued walking towards him. Not willing to get shamed further he accelerated towards me at an even faster pace than before, knowing he'll do this, I simply dodged to the side lightly pushing his elbow so that his own momentum would send him spinning. Reacting to this, he immedietly casted the second and third charge of his acceleration to quickly turn back towards me as he sent both slash, and a quick light bird towards the position I was in.
"Weak..."
I couldn't help but mutter as I easily dodged the predictable sword stab as I closed in on him and raised his body in a choke hold. The enhanced light bird missing entirely as I didn't blocked but instead closed in on him.
Redamir Woles tried to struggle as I lifted him, but life soon left his eyes as I completely crushed his spine.
Throwing the body, I sighed before noticing Eve's praise embedded within my memory, she told me not to worry that there will be far skillful opponents in the future. And that I should just take advantage of these mobs to quickly level up.
I almost laughed after hearing her call those people mobs. That really was a good way to call people who don't know how to use their own power.
It was strange that no backlash came though... Also, adding to the effects earlier not only do I feel refreshed, but it seems that the type of my mana that I have also has a subtle restoration property embedded in it.
The additional mystery that came in only made me more eager to reach level 20 even faster. Though seeing as I've only reached level 12 after killing a group of Level 14-20 people, I suspect that not even beating all the waves will help me fully cross level 20.
This reminded me of the 'Clean up' me and Zhao Mei were talking about earlier... Maybe removing a few leeches would help reserve more Exp to me. Wait why does that sound all evil...
Shrugging to myself, I stored the fallen sword of Redamir, as I read my notifications on my way back to town, noticing two figures watching over from a distance.
Seeing Zhao Mei with another person, I chuckled at the thought of her making another friend.
Miracles really do come true.
