58 | My Everything

It took a moment for Sebastian to realise he was kissing Edmund. On the lips.

Holy shit – he was kissing Edmund.

His brain suddenly shifted from wherever the fuck it had been into panic-mode as he realised what he was doing. He had not meant to do that. He hadn’t meant to do anything! Edmund had just looked so nice, and for a moment it felt like he wanted this too, but he could have been reading things wrong. Shit, what if he’d just seen things that way because it’s what he wanted?

He liked Edmund – a lot – this wasn’t exactly news. But if his feelings had gotten so out of hand that he’d forced himself on him, then Sebastian didn’t know how he’d live with himself.

So, he was about to pull back, beg for forgiveness, and maybe run away back to his house in shame, but then-

Edmund was kissing him back.

He was kissing him back!

Seb’s brain did an instant 180 from panic to excitement which faded into a blissful high. He’d never imagined getting to do this. To be fair, he never imagined being a magic user or the rest of the shit they’d been through in the past month, but this; this was impossible.

When the pair eventually pulled apart, they were both breathless, so they didn’t say anything yet. Sebastian didn’t want to really say anything, too afraid of breaking the moment. But he knew he’d have to speak eventually. Because this kiss, even if Ed reciprocated his feelings, meant change. A big change.

“Am I dreaming?” Edmund whispered, quiet enough that Seb almost didn’t catch it.

“Do you dream about this kind of thing often?” Sebastian softly teased, causing Edmund to avert his eyes flusteredly.

“Not as much as I’d like.”

And, wow,”Seb really wanted to kiss him again.

But Ed continued. “I- I really like you, Bas. So please, tell me I’m not dreaming right now.”

Sebastian sobered up quickly at that. Edmund looked so vulnerable, so fragile; it reminded him vividly of that first day after the full moon. But this time they weren’t dealing with the supernatural. This time, they were going into something debatably more terrifying.

Seb was scared too about this all being a dream, because his dreams didn’t seem to end well these days, and he- he needed to tell Edmund everything.

“You’re not dreaming. This is real. And I like you too. A lot.” He began, doing his best to maintain the steadiness in his voice. “I’ve liked you for a really long time, to be honest. As my best friend and more. I didn’t think that you liked me back, so I didn’t want to say or do anything that would ruin the relationship we have. Even if we were only ever going to be platonic, I wanted to keep you in my life. Because you- you’re everything. My best friend, my rock, my soulmate- everything… I love you.”

Finally, Edmund’s eyes locked back onto his. “You do?”

Sebastian’s voice seemed to have disappeared, so he could only nod.

“I… I love you too, Bas. And not just as my best friend. Honestly, I’ve been in love with you since we were thirteen. After we made that promise, that we’d stay together no matter what, I could only ever imagine my life with you beside me. You’re my everything too. Can I kiss you again?

Sebastian nodded eagerly and Edmund laughed just a little before connecting their lips once more. After their second kiss, they talked for a bit longer, about what this meant for them and what their plans were stepping forward. And after some more making out and cuddling, the pair fell asleep happier than they’d been in a long time.

And, for the first time possibly ever, Sebastian woke up in a cheerful mood. He had woken up still cuddled against his boyfriend and had to take a moment to keep himself from moving around happily at that. He had a boyfriend! Edmund was his boyfriend! And, damn, he looked handsome when he was asleep.

He was snoring, just a little, and the soft rays of sunlight that had managed to get through his curtains gave the illusion of a golden halo framing his face. It was such a perfect, peaceful picture, that Seb felt as if morning weren’t so bad.

But then Daisy jumped onto the bed and the moment was broken. “Wake up, wake up, wake up!”

“What? What happened?” Edmund questioned groggily.

“Someone’s in a good mood.” Sebastian commented as he watched Daisy jump up and down and up and down.

He really hoped she didn’t accidentally jump onto their feet or legs. Or slip off onto the floor.

“Luke made breakfast!”

“That’s great, Daisy, but please stop bouncing.” Edmund requested.

Daisy complied, flopping into a sitting position. “Luke said that we needed to wait for you before we ate, so you need to get up!”

“Okay, okay, we’re getting up.” Seb dramatically sighed, pulling himself out of Ed’s arms and slipping out of bed.

Edmund whined a little at the loss of contact, but got up himself. Sebastian tossed him a shirt while he looked for a pair of adjustable sweatpants. Once they were both a bit more decent, Daisy all but dragged them down to the kitchen where Luke was talking to Garret.

“Morning,” Sebastian greeted the pair.

They turned to greet him, but paused and stared for just a moment.

“What? Is something on my face?” Seb looked over to Edmund for answers.

Ed squinted at him a little, but then noticed something and smiled sheepishly. “Um, sorry.”

Sebastian felt even more confused and looked back at the others in time to see Garret’s face break into a smile. “Glad you two finally came to your senses. But please, keep it PG around the kiddos? And me.”

And he still didn’t get it, but then Luke seemed to take pity on him and pointed to his collarbone. Sebastian moved his hand there and- oh. Yeah, perhaps they got a bit carried away the night before.

“I’m gonna grab a different shirt.” Seb muttered and, as he left, he decided that mornings were indefinitely evil.
