A swirl of gazes turned back at Eliza. She must have wondered why all those eyes were looking in her direction. She had no idea. Its deadly shadow towering her silhouette. No time to moan or scream for help. In quick succession a gust of wind announced the incoming carnage. Holding her throat tightly were the hands of the same pale woman she had hit, not twice, but three times. And with each passing second, Eliza's face looked more and more like that of the feeble tone before her.
Holding her up and squeezing her neck with its claws, blocking any flow of oxygen that should be going to her head. Eliza's hands could do little at that moment. Especially against a monster with such strength, resisting would be useless. She didn't have the strength to free herself with those thin arms of hers. Revolted by the lack of voice to scream for help, the lack of strength to reduce the suffocating tightness in her delicate neck, all Eliza had was her gaze.
Tears streamed from her ocean eyes, moistening the creature's own rotten claws as it lifted her body like a toy. She entrusted the boy she barely knew with that gaze of hers, the gaze of someone who is begging for help. For a brave hero to come and save her. Even if that hero was that boy- The one she saw crying thirty minutes ago.
Jin was not prepared for this. The number of emotions he had experienced in the past twenty-four hours was immense. No, in those five minutes even. Why were they being attacked by a vampire? Sanctum should be one of the strongholds of mankind, filled with hundreds of the strongest adventurers the human race could offer. Where was his brother Vendrick, who promised that he would accompany him every step of the way to the Trial?
Anyway, there was no time to ask these questions now.
In shock at that vampire's power and agility, Jin was in total shock. Feeling worthless, powerless. Not only he, but everyone in his group would perish there before the elemental gods.
“How ironic.” He thought.
The same nine gods that he so wanted to impress when he entered the room would now witness his death. The attempt to move any muscle in his body was in vain due to the absurd fear that filled his heart and spread to his legs and arms like venom. From the back of his mind, he remembered his father motivating him in childhood, saying that he would be a strong warrior as an adult. And now, he would have his life taken away from him in that dark place. Without becoming anything he dreamed of…And that was when Jin realized.

Those gleamy blue eyes looking at him. Those same blue eyes that had smiled at him were now filled with tears staring at him, begging him to do something. Those deep eyes were trying to change something within Jin.
As if they were…Begging him to be brave. That look hit him right in the heart. And like a candle in the darkness, he found it within him one last plan. That would be it. His ultimate sacrifice. Even if that was the last thing he did, that flame burning within was the stimulus he needed to have the courage he needed.
Jin looked at his hands, still shaking, and raised his sword one last time. But unlike before, he had no intention of hurting the powerful vampire before him. Holding the hilt of the sword tightly with the rest of the strength he could muster, Jin slid the blade across his entire left arm. As the blade traveled the length of his arm, blood began to stain the floor.
“You like blood huh? COME AND TAKE IT! ” Jin screamed teasing the bloodthirsty creature in an act of madness.
The moment the creature smelled blood hovering in the air, its attention was totally stolen. Like a child dissatisfied with her current toy, Eliza was thrown away, discarded in favor of much more succulent prey. A prey that in an act of insanity to save the girl with blue eyes like a river, was now there in a last act of redemption. The vampire completely ignored the environment around her, focusing all his energies and desires on the cattle in front of him. Taken totally by their animalistic instincts and infinite bloodlust, the vampire pounced on the helpless human.
It all happened so fast.
The next thing I know, she is on top of me. I felt two sharp fangs penetrate my arm and a wet sensation. It wasn't saliva, it was my blood wetting the creature's lips over me. A slave to its own hunger, the creature sucked my blood as if it had been hungry for more than a decade. As the creature feasted upon me, my companions could notice her hair becoming silky and smelling again. Her claws that could cut any human in half have now shrunk in size and become beautiful nails, polished red like a crimson princess. Her skin, which had been wrinkled like parchment suddenly became smooth and youthful.
Even her beastial stance was doubtful, I needed to make a mental effort to remember that that beautiful woman who smelled of roses on top of me was a monster sucking my vital energy. It was like she was gaining all the years lost to hunger by feeding on me. Taking advantage of the moment when she was totally distracted by feeding on me, I needed to be quick. I had lost my sword on the ground, it was now too far away for it to be of any use. My head started to hurt a lot, as if my body wanted to shut down all the pain and just let it go.
I had already lost a lot of blood and that would be the end of me. My eyes started to weigh, it took a lot of physical effort to stay conscious. The last thing I remember is that there was something shiny coming out of the beautiful princess's chest.
It wasn't there before, was it? No—it wasn't there before. Shortly after, numbness takes over my whole body.
And it was at that moment that everything went dark.
