Chapter Ten

Obscure-Mystic Media

Sydney, Real World

The entrance to Obscure-Mystic’s headquarters was completely silent, from the fight between friends to the touching and heartfelt moment between the siblings and the triceratops. There wasn’t a dry eye in the gathered crowd or those on safe, Marcus wiping a few tears that escaped from his own eyes returned to the podium.

“That Ladies and Gentlemen is the game Nimbor: Labyrinth Survival, and that was just a small sample of what is on offer to the trapped players. Project Phoenix has already selected the lucky few who we plan to stream in every participating country around the world, and with this, it is our hope to give the loved ones of those trapped some peace of mind.”

A journalist spoke up and voiced a question on a few minds, “Mr Forrester, if this monitoring system is following the player every move wouldn’t there be an issue of privacy?”

Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author.

Marcus nodded at the words of the journalist, it spoke to him as a parent with his own children being monitored by the system. Looking out at the crowd and saw that more than half their number that the same concern held within their eyes.

“Written within Project Phoenix’s very code is a large number of situations in which the program will know to stay clear of, moments like if a player goes to the bathroom, changing clothes, and/or intimate moments that may arise as well as any moment that is too violent for most viewers through the international rating system for both TV Shows and movies.”

At his words, a large number of parents/family members gave out an audible sigh of relief, glad that their loved ones’ privacy was going to be honoured across many different situations.

“Project Phoenix will be running constantly from tomorrow, and under Chairman Arthur Cameron’s orders will be free-to-view across all streaming services. We will also notify everyone of any updates to the program that we make, we hope that you enjoy the benefits and show your support to all the players.”

As the press conference drew to a close, Marcus led Jordan and Arthur back inside the building. It wasn’t the best outcome, but it offered hope that everyone could track what their loved ones were up to while trapped within the digital world they helped to create.
