Their cover name is based on a play on words. The human name for the holiest of angels comes from the Hebrew "saraph", which means "to burn".

W.A.T.C.H. (Scientifically Accurate Temporal Computer Historian)
A supercomputer disguised as a wristwatch with built-in AI. Originally intended to support the time agent Hieronymus Lackley, WATCH contains a neural backup of his entire personality, as well as an incredibly extensive database.
WATCH has a neural interface that allows it to completely take over any living organism on physical contact. It can also store copies of the personality and memories of any person it controls.

Tried to become a god in another world a long time ago, but abandoned his attempt shortly before completion for reasons not generally known.
Professor Rohal
Wise old mage from an otherwise unknown parallel dimension. Was thrown into the university when he tried to banish his evil twin brother to the dungeon dimension. Teaches only a few, and then very advanced courses and is mostly occupied with magical research and supervising doctoral students.
Penny
Assistant teacher with provisional status as a professor. Seems very young and harmless. Tells very confused stories about his home world.
