“Oh! This great one is most impressed and pleased by the gall and trot of the Earth people’s glowing entourage! Oh! Their military might brought forth from their shining brilliance, akin to that of the glowing stars in the sky!” the green goblin said as he was being escorted into the base by an armed group of Knights at all sides.
“Man, it sure has a way with words,” one of the Knights said as he looked at the waddling little goblin wearing what they could only see as nothing more than an explorer costume.
The cheek on the being twitched for a moment. “Please, do not refer to this great one in such a way! This great one hath traveled far and wide, across the good earth's walls! The land’s tears running down its skin and the colorful fruits of its beauty to bring my greater shape so those below his greatness might indulge in this one’s glory. Therefore, this great one shall not be referred to as an ‘it’ for this great one is not a thing.”
“So uh… what?” asked one of the Knights walking along.
“It doesn’t want to be called ‘it’ is what I think it said,” responded a woman’s voice from one of the Knights.
The goblin’s cheeks twitched again.
“And yet you called it an ‘it’ yourself,” refuted the first Knight back.
“You’re doing the same!” said the woman, quickly turning to look at the other Knight.
The being wanted to open his mouth again but the Knight at the front spoke up first, “Quiet! We’re coming into the base now, so make sure… ‘he’… doesn’t get any big ideas!”
“Yes sir!” shouted back the Knights walking around the being as they all kept their fingers ready on the triggers of their weapons.
The people at the base were curiously looking at this goblin walking by, who in turn, tried to also look around the base, as he bobbed his head around, trying to look past the group of Knights surrounding him.
“Hey! No funny ideas!” shouted one of the Knights walking behind this goblin, startling him as he quickly moved his head to look forward.
“No! No! This great one wouldn’t dare to have any ‘funny ideas’ for He is of the most noble and grandiose creation that the divine—”
“We’re here,” said the Knight in front, interrupting the goblin mid speech.
The goblin frowned and pouted slightly, but didn’t protest as his eyes turned to look up at the building they were standing in front of, which didn’t look too different from all the other buildings they had walked by. He frowned again as he looked up at the building but before he could say anything, the Knight at the front opened the door.
“We’ve brought over the… ‘native’!” he said with an awkward and yet strong voice.
“Very well, bring him in,” responded Jeong-Hwa from inside.
“Aye aye,” the Knight said as he turned to look down at the goblin, “Hands at the sides where we can see them, no abrupt movements or anything suspicious or you will be shot down, understood?”
The goblin quickly nodded in response. “This great one would never dare offend such illustrious and powerful beings when this great one’s very elegance and bearing are that of—”
“Just go in,” the Knight said, almost sighing at how much this little being liked to talk.
The goblin cleared his throat and took careful steps into the building, his body swaying from side to side as he approached the room. Behind him, most of the Knights that had escorted him also walked in, while only a couple would stand outside to keep watch. Every knight took careful positioning, making sure that in this room he had no way of moving around beyond just standing in front of a large table.
Behind this table stood Jeong-Hwa, who looked with wide-eyed surprise down at the goblin, and next to her stood a furrowing General Hull. The goblin looked up at them with his almost completely pitch black eyes, which seemed to not even have irises as the whole eye was practically black, making the people inside unsure of where he was looking at, if not for the way that he would shift his head slightly to look at both Jeong-Hwa and Hull.
They stayed quiet for a moment, a moment that started getting awkward as the goblin started shifting in his place, seemingly unsure of what to do, while Jeong-Hwa and General Hull simply looked at him. The knight that had brought over this goblin also felt the weird silence lingering in the air, so he did a loud and sharp clearing of the throat. “General Hull? Commander Han?”
“Ah?! Ah, yes! Yes!” Jeong-Hwa scrambled as she snapped out of her surprise while looking at this goblin, “I just, I didn’t really believe the reports when I read them. It truly, really is a goblin…”
General Hull turned to look at Jeong-Hwa with a raised eyebrow. “You know what it is? The report only gave us a general description of what we’re seeing right now.”
“Well… yes, this looks like a goblin from fantasy games and things like that…” she responded with some awkwardness in her tone as she did a wry smile.
“Is that so…” General Hull followed up as he turned to look over at the goblin.
Jeong-Hwa cleared her awkwardness as she looked at the Knight that had reported the visitor. “The reports also say that it was quite… ‘talkative’ but it’s not saying anything. Did you do something?”
“No ma’am, he was talking quite a bit even before stepping foot in here,” the Knight said as he turned to look down at the goblin, “hey, what’s wrong with you?”
The goblin turned to look up at the Knight as well, it carried a surprised expression, as he signaled with his hand towards the knight to get closer to him. He couldn’t see the Knight’s expression due to the helmet they were all wearing so it wasn’t sure if the knight understood the meaning of his actions, so he repeated it a few more times.
“What is this about?” asked General Hull, furrowing his eyebrows at this seemingly random action.
“Captain… I think it wants to… whisper something to you?” said unconfidently another knight that was standing behind the goblin.
The goblin snapped back to glare at the knight that had just spoken before quickly turning to look up at the knight that he had been signaling at and nodding quickly a few times.
“What the—?” responded the knight now that he knew what the goblin wanted. “I’m not getting closer than I have to to this thing.”
“Just do as the goblin wants, Captain, we’re all standing here and we’re all heavily armed, so if it does something we’ll handle it fast. Besides, you’re a Duke as well, you should be able to handle it,” Jeong-Hwa said while moving in her hand, signaling a ‘go ahead’ to the knight.

“But we don’t know what it could—”
“Just get on with it!” shouted Jeong-Hwa this time.
“Yes, Ma’am!” the knight quickly responded.
The Knight slowly and carefully lowered himself so his head would be at the same height as the goblin’s head. The goblin on the other hand carefully stretched himself up so he could speak closer to where he assumed was the knight’s ear, whispering as he said, “This great one wishes to share his humble words to the highest ones of the ‘Earth’ kingdom, however, this great one has not been spoken to by their holy presences, therefore this great one would request he be spoken to so as to not offend their higher statuses with this great one’s elegant words.”
The knight quickly straightened himself up after listening to the goblin. He looked down at the goblin for a couple of seconds before turning to look at both Jeong-Hwa and General Hull, who looked back at him with expectation.
“Well?” asked General Hull as he raised his eyebrows.
“Uh…” the Knight said with uncertainty in his voice, “I think… it said that… um…”
“Get on with it Captain!” snapped Jeong-Hwa.
“Yes, ma’am!” he quickly responded again, “I think it said that it can’t speak to you if you don’t speak to it first.”
Everyone in the room stiffened when they heard the captain talk, with both Jeong-Hwa and General Hull standing stunned as they looked down at this goblin, who was awkwardly smiling up at the both of them. He didn’t speak, even while everyone else was looking at him, so Jeong-Hwa shook her head quickly, trying to snap out of her daze while keeping a flabbergasted expression on her face.
“O-ok? Very well then… I guess I’ll… present myself first…?” she said with a doubtful tone of voice while looking at the Knight Captain in front of her.
“Up to you Commander,” he said, almost shrugging his shoulders.
She cleared her throat and looked straight at the small goblin in front of her. “I am Knight-Commander and First Rank Duchess, Han Jeong-Hwa.”
“Oh!” the goblin responded with excitement, “Quite the unique title for the most esteemed and honorable of ones among the children of the world, indeed!”
“Um…” Jeong-Hwa mumbled as she turned to look sideways at General Hull.
The goblin also turned to look at General Hull with the same excitement from before, his deep black eyes almost shining as he stared. General Hull felt some sense of awkwardness from the way he was being looked at, which was increased due to the being looking up to him with a strange smile, but that didn’t stop him from presenting himself as well as he did a military salute. “And I am the Commanding General of the Global Alliance Army, David Hull.”
Hearing General Hull’s title, the goblin was taken aback, but he then quickly changed his expression to one of seriousness and then did a similar military salute back at the General, a salute that while looking somewhat strange on the small creature, didn’t look forced, as if he was used to doing such a salute.
“May we… know who you are, where you come from and what do you want by coming here?” asked Jeong-Hwa as she looked at the still saluting goblin.
“Yes!” the goblin responded with enthusiasm. He stood straight and smiled widely as he prepared to speak by taking a small mouthful of air. “This great one has been named as such by greater beings that gave him life to live in this world as: Regis Regulus Magni Mirabile Altior Ex Maximis Esse Summo.”
Regis made a dramatic vow after saying his name; however, instead of being impressed, everyone in the room stayed quiet for a few seconds, with Jeong-Hwa being the first one to break the silence with an incredulous tone of voice. “Are you serious…?”
Regis stood up straight again and looked somewhat bashful as he scratched the side of his cheek with one finger. “This great one knows that his name does not satisfy the qualifications for the highest of beings, for this great one is of humble origins, and as such, he never forgets to keep things humble, one would request that you look past it, for this great one still has great things to offer!”
There were a few more seconds of silence. Jeong-Hwa looked at Regis while frowning slightly at him, since she seemed to be slightly confused by the way he talks as well as the thing he said. “So uh… Regis? Do you mind if I call you that?”
He didn’t say anything and simply nodded and accepted with a slight wave of his hand.
“About the other parts of my last question, where did you come from and what do you want by coming here and speaking to us?” she asked while she kept carefully looking at Regis.
He raised his eyebrows in realization, apparently having forgotten about those other two parts of the question as he then nodded a couple of times. “Of course, this great one almost forgot about that,” he took out the same piece of paper he had shown before, which was now slightly crumpled from being in his pocket, and looked at it for a second. “This great one comes from the Republic of Drokan, that might be found by those who search for it on a map by going north-east from where this great one is standing right now.”
“The Republic of Drokan?” asked General Hull.
“Yes, yes. This great one understands that such a name for a nation could be misconstrued as something completely irrational for the common one; however, such is the name given to the lands from which this great one walked out,” he responded with some pride in his voice.
“Well this is interesting…” General Hull said with a low voice while looking down as he placed a hand on his chin. He turned his eyes up again at Regis. “And again, for what reason did you come here?”
“Right!” Regis responded while slamming a fist on his hand in realization, “This great one was sent here due to this great one’s bravery and superior intellect as an envoy, diplomat and representative of the Republic of Drokan to establish contact with your nation.”
He then handed over the piece of paper in his hands towards the Knight Captain standing next to him. The Knight took the paper after looking at it for a few seconds, then stared at it between his hands as everyone else looked at him with the same expectations from before.
“What does it say, Captain?” asked Jeong-Hwa, sharing the expectation that everyone had in her voice.
“Um…” the Captain said with a confused tone. “I… don’t understand what it says here.”
“What do you mean you don’t understand? Give it here!” Jeong-Hwa commanded with a hand stretched out to the Captain.
The Captain quickly presented the piece of paper to Jeong-Hwa, who hastily grabbed it to have a closer look at it. She stared at it with her eyes narrowed as she looked up and down all over it, her expression quickly turning to a frown as she started flipping it upside and turning it back and forth.
“What is the matter Commander?” asked General Hull, raising an eyebrow at Jeong-Hwa’s actions.
“This is…” Jeong-Hwa said with a lower voice and confusion, “I don’t understand anything that’s… drawn here.”
She then passed the piece of paper to General Hull, who looked at it for a moment. This light brown piece of paper was no bigger than any other common piece of paper found on earth, and on it, written in what seemed to be printed black ink, were symbols composed of both squares, circles and a few lines.
“Is this Korean or something similar?” General Hull asked as he looked at the paper, his eyebrows frowned.
“No. No way, I’m fluent in all the major languages and that definitely isn’t one that we use. It could be some… hidden language somewhere… but I doubt it,” Jeong-Hwa answered.
“What does this paper say?” asked General Hull as he showed the front side of the paper towards Regis.
“Hm?” Regis responded as he looked carefully at the paper, “This great one didn’t read the contents of the letter, for this great one was given the most important and critical task of delivering my presence to those worthy of seeing it, therefore he cannot say for certain what it says, but it is customary to send a greeting letter along with the envoy when meeting with another nation.”
“I see…” General Hull said thoughtfully, turning to look at the assistant, “Please send a copy of this back for study.”
“Right away!” said the assistant, leaving the room quickly through the back.
After the assistant left the room, everyone stood in silence for a few seconds. Jeong-Hwa and General Hull looked down at Regis, who looked at the both of them with a merry expression. Jeong-Hwa tilted her head to the side, thinking that maybe this goblin would have more to say after coming all the way here, but he just stood there looking at them. “Did you come here alone? Is it normal for an envoy to show up in another nation by themselves in your republic?”
“Oh no, no, no, no, no,” Regis responded quickly, “I have a complete team and powerful beings come with me all the way to the border of the contact zone with the Earth people; however, it was deemed appropriate that we don’t bring the whole entourage in, so as a means of showing good will, this great one offereded himself to go by his lonesome self, by venturing into the forest, with the expectation to be warmly welcomed!”
“Is that so…? Can we meet this other… ‘team’?” asked General Hull, throwing a doubtful look at Regis, who seemed proud of what he had just said.
“Quite yes, indeed. In fact, this great one was tasked with sending word back if this great one was able to achieve some sort of friendly conversation with the Earth people,” Regis responded with a nod, and then proceeded to pull out a rectangle gray-black box from one of his pant’s pockets.
“Hold it right there!” shouted the Knight Captain, quickly aiming his weapon at Regis.
