Chapter 3

"Today is the day! You've waited for! Months. Weeks. Even days!. But its finally happening! The day of your transfer! Are you excited!?"

". . ."

There was no reaction.

Maybe it was the fact that there was a great deal of people in the room, but people were just barely paying attention or just straight up ignoring the man in front giving a way to dramatical speech in front of them as he stood infront of the door that would change their lives.

Looking around, Shun couldn't help but feel a little stuffed as he stood around squashed up against a bunch of people in the underground sanctuary that would be the designated room sending the people of his sector into Eden.

Right now, he and about 5,000 other people were apparently in the waiting room that connected to the actual transfer station, he wasn't absolutely sure but it seemed that way.

"I bet you are! Now let me tell you what's going to happen. Right now you are outside what is called a Life station, an underground sector that holds a total of 5,000 LifeCyberspace capsules. But before you can enter that room, there is a room separating the two that you must enter. Yeah I know, it's alot, but this procedure is kind of important to the overall function of using the Capsules."

Opening the door into another kind of room similar but this time it led to another but this time it had two hallways which lead what was apparently a locker room as the man who led us into the room told us to seperate by our gender.

"You will enter this changing room where you will change into the outfit designated specifically for the LifeCyberspace Capsule. Inside the room you will find lockers, lockers that will be specifically for you with your name and Capsule number on it. After changing, you may go into the designated Capsule space and enter Eden, you will have someone guide you but other than that my assistance is not needed any further. Have a nice life in your New World Eden!"

Going into the changing room along with everyone else, Shun who was standing infront of the locker that did in fact have his name and the number that was on the back of his card, Shun couldn't help but think back on when he had just entered the facility to go into the underground sanctuary as he looked at his hand.

----------------------------------------

It was around 10 am and Shun had just gotten off the government vehicle. . . which was basically just a really fancy bus.

Shun wasn't one to vocalize his excitement and happiness but his face had shown as clear as day.

'Well this is awkward. . .'

Although people like him who enjoyed games and was really excited for living in a fantasy world would be happy at the moment, it was an understatement that some people weren't.

And by the frowns and crying there definitely seemed to be a 'few' who didn't agree with Shuns excitement.

Glancing down as not to show people his face as to not be a bother, Shun instead went to his phone and went on Twitter which was not surprisingly going down in about a few hours as the CEO and owner was shutting it down the moment he transferred.

Reloading the screen a few times, there seemed to be nobody posting or doing anything really that wasn't anything depressing. He followed a lot of the major gaming athletes, the kind of gaming athletes who had the Gold LifeCyberstation capsules, none of them seemed to be having any kind of discussions or open questions as they mostly seemed silent.

"Hey. you follow No-Life too?"

"!?"

Almost dropping his phone, Shun had to catch it from falling to the floor, Shun whipped his head around looking at the person who scared him half to death.

With skin, soft and pale, with blonde hair in a ponytail, the girl infront of him surprisingly looked younger than him but was for sure taller than him.

If Shun was being honest she was very pretty and her yellowish brown eyes drew Shun as he looked at her for a good couple of seconds before he remembered her question.

"O-Oh yeah, I liked his FPS game runs when he was still into that sort of thing. I sort of only follow him now for game advice and now just to see his new takes on Eden, but it seemed he already transferred."

Looking nervous at first Shun slowly calmed down and began to talk normally as he tucked his phone back in his pocket.

Shun wasn't much of an anti social person but he was still nervous around people he didn't know which is why he didn't have alot of friends outside of school.

Plus he was so focused on videos games that he was pretty much an introvert who likes to go outside and socialize but has nobody to socialize with.

"Ohhhh, I really wasn't into the whole FPS runs he did seeing as most of the games he played were the same, I liked it when he played those MMORPG games, mostly Witch & Barbarian. That's like my favorite game of the past 4 years. I hate that I won't be able to play it again, but I heard that Eden has a lot and more that is probably way more fun than any game i've played."

"Yeah, it's already viewed as probably a world that surpasses any game, did you watch any of the streams? I could probably show you some clips."

Taking out his phone again he was stopped by the girl.

"Nah it's fine, I'm probably not going to do anything that crazy in Eden. My parents already don't want me to play around as it is, they really just want me to become some sort of business person I guess. Most likely in this world that's called a merchant."

Being told a fact that hasn't been on his mind at all since being told of a real life Vrmmorpg, Shun realized that not everybody his age was like him.

Parents, Adults, people of power probably wouldn't want the younger generation to be a game character who would risk their lives, even though it's confirmed that there are such things as re-spawn, to become some sort of cartoon character.

Sure there could be some who ignored their parents but the fact that he didn't have a parental figure and his Aunt didn't care what happened to him as long as he had fun, Shun wasn't like most teenagers who had a set of standards that a parent would have for their child.

". . .Oh, yeah that's fine. . . I understand you not wanting to be told things that would make you interested in becoming something your parents wouldn't want."

"Exactly! I mean sure I want to do it but I have to think of my parents first so i'm fine with ditching ideas of adventure and all that hopla. Besides I heard it's a lot of work."

Smiling and laughing to her own joke the girl seemed to be done with the conversation as she looked around and seemed to find what she was looking for as she turned back to Shun and gave him a final smile.

"I have to go now. It seems there now starting the entry to the Station and I'm going with my family. I hope I see you in Eden, my name's Emilia by the way."

Sticking out her hand Shun looked at it and did the same.

"Shun."

Shaking hands they let go and Emila went on to join her family.

". . ."

Looking at his hand Shun looked at it strangely but just when he was about to call out to her he was interupted.

"Howdy folks of Sector 5 Florida! Let me introduce myself! My names. . ."

----------------------------------------

Thinking back on it, Shun couldn't help but have thoughts of his parents as he opened the locker.

Would he be just like Emelia if his parents were still alive. . .

". . ."

He didn't want to think about it, so instead he did what everyone else was doing and opened his locker, taking out and looking at the outfit inside. What he saw was a very small full body outfit that looked to be a leotard.

And looking at it closer, it was pretty much just that. There wasn't anything special about it, except for some blue lines that were on the sides and back which can be chalked up to weird designs but other than that there was nothing that made it seem necessary to wear.

Taking off his clothes and putting on the outfit. He stretched the outfit out as he pushed one leg at a time through the proper holes, he felt the material stretch and go against his pulling as he forced the outfit over his torso and shoulders and pushed his arms through the proper arm sleeves. To no surprise was it full body with the leotard covering almost all of his body except for his hands, feet, and head.

After putting it on, it felt really tight against his skin like it was apart of his skin almost like a 2nd layer.

It was smooth and comfortable. He couldn't even feel the difference from when he wasn't wearing it. Putting a stop to his hands that were basically rubbing the material, Shun went ahead and put all of his stuff in his locker. But before he put his phone down with the rest of his clothes, leaving it for good, he went into it one last time and pulled up a picture of his parents.

If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

It wasn't often that he looked at his parents as it only served to make him emotional, but seeing as this would be his last time looking at their faces he stared at the screen for a good 5 minutes as tears fell out his eyes.

The smiling looks on their face as they hugged the 8 year old him. It felt like just yesterday when they took that picture. Just the thought of it made him overcome with emotion.

'I hope you see me. . . i'm sorry, but I can only do this much for you.'

Before he met Emelia he hadn't thought about his parents. Shun was too centered around the world of Eden that he forgot about remembering his parents. Shun didn't want to say it but deep down he didn't want to burden himself by remincising on his parents. They were dead, he knew that, and he knew that in the years to come, memories of them would fade away. It was inevitable, and he knew it.

"Hey! All who are not done, not to rush you but they are waiting for everyone to get into the capsules before launching!"

Calling out all the ones who weren't done, A man wearing a business suit made sure everyone in the room to basically hurry up.

After hearing that Shun woke up from his depressed state and back in the real world as he let the last few drops of tears go down his eyes and hurriedly wiped his face with some towels that seemed to be conveniently placed in his locker as he looked one last time at the picture before setting down his phone and making sure to grab his ID card, it was only after doing so did he finally close his locker.

And after looking around, it seemed he wasn't the only one who was emotional at this time as men and children of all ages were crying and looking depressed as realization of what was happening sunk in.

'I love my parents and my life will never be the same without them. . . but my new life. My new life is with Eden!'

Smacking himself in the face once getting the attention drawn on him, Shun who noticed went pink in the face before speed walking down the room and into the long awaited Transfer Station.

And what he saw did not disappoint.

Rows and Rows of Capsules went as far as the other end of the room.

The capsules didn't look the same as when they showcased them as the ones in this room had a more oval/ egg like shape with them being covered mostly in glass with metal surrounding mostly the bottom. There also seemed to be some sort of long tubes connecting from the bottom of the capsule to beneath the floor going underground.

It looked cool and all but when he saw the people inside them he got a little scared.

The people who were wearing the same outfit as him were floating around with their eyes closed in what looked to be a greenish liquid, completely submerged in it. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with them as they seemed to be breathing the liquid in and out just fine.

And Shun was correct, the people inside the capsules were breathing in and out the liquid as if it was air with no problem, and realizing that fact was the part that really sacred him.

"Seems scary huh?"

Getting scared for the second time today, a lady who was wearing a nurses outfit appeared beside Shun.

"Did I scare you? Sorry I just saw you standing there and thought you needed assistance."

Giggling a bit the nurse went infront him and stuck out his hand

"?"

Looking at her hand confused, Shun didn't know why she stuck out her hand.

"You card."

Looking at the Nurse who was still smiling Shuns face was instantly colored again as he gave the nurse his ID card.

After receiving Shuns card the nurse looked at the back and looked for his capsule number.

"Hmmmm 5-2987, I know exactly where that Capsule is, follow me."

The nurse reading out the number took a second to think before grabbing his hand and pulling him to his Capsule.

"U-Um excuse me but can you tell me why everyones in that ummm liquid?"

Being pulled rather roughly as if dragged, Shun asked the question that was ultimately on his mind after entering the room.

"A-And why is it so cold"

Shuddering as the room's temperature finally caught up to him, he couldn’t believe he didn't see the very visible condensation that left his mouth every time he breathed out.

"Well if you're asking me about the temperature, the reason for it from what i've been told, is for the heat wave that is coming. This temperature is in place to make sure all human life inside the capsules along with being underground would be perfectly cooled and protect us from the heat. And for the liquid. . . I can't exactly tell you what it is but let me just say this between me and you, it's for the real life functions. Touch, Taste, Hear, Sight, that liquid will be able to do all of that for you."

It was strange that she didn't answer him directly but Shun didn't dwell on it too closely. If she didn't want to tell him he wasn't going to push her, and by the sigh of relief that the nurse had it seemed that there were some who weren't as willing to let go as he was.

It wasn't long until they finally reached his Capsule, and it was only after reaching it did he notice how big it was. It wasn't anything humongous that towered over him, but it at least reached 7ft tall and was really wide at like 9ft.

"So how do I ummm, get in it?"

Looking at the Capsule that did indeed have the numbers on the back of his ID card on the side of the metal bottom, there didn't really seem to be a way of entry as he looked at it from his front angle.

'Maybe its in the back. . .'

Shivering at the cold, Shun couldn't help but shake as with the assistance of the cold made his nervousness double, but it wasn’t his fault, he couldn't help it. . . but at the same time there was a huge amount of excitement that was right beside it as he finally looked at His capsule.

The capsule that would take him to the world of Eden!

A part of him just wanted to go into the capsule right away, but there was still that part of him that was still scared.

"This is one of the nice things about the LifeCyberspace."

Pressing a button that was on the side of the Capsule that he hadn't seen with all of his looking around and a piece of the glass slowly went down giving Shun access into the Capsule.

". . ."

Looking at the entry Shun took a deep breath and went inside.

Instantly he was made aware of the many holes that were spread across the floor. They weren't anything big but it was enough to make him realize what was going to happen.

"I bet you already know what's going to happen right? The liquid that you saw before is going to quickly fill up the Capsule encasing you in it fully. There will be no room for breathing, but as I say that this is completely safe and you will not die breathing it in alright. There won't be any kind of pain either, so I implore you not to try and struggle to break out."

Turning his head back to the entry of the capsule he quickly found out that it was already closed off and the nurse who swiped his ID across a scanner and pressed a button.

"After you are encased fully and you will find the air leave your lungs and the liquid fill it quickly, but you will note as the liquid goes in you will see that it's as if breathing in and out."

The liquid finally started pouring in and when the nurse said it was quick she was not lying, already reaching his ankles and going up Shun looked at the Liquid with fear. The liquid felt like some kind of sticky water as he had trouble pulling his leg up and moving it around. And although the nurse said there was nothing to worry about, why wouldn't he be afraid of losing air that, ever since he was young, he was told that it was needed for LIVING.

"As you breath the liquid in and out, you will feel a light drowsiness. It will feel small at first but it will steadily force you to sleep. Just like everyone in this room, it's only then will you be able to enter Eden with on troubles, so for your own sake please don't try and struggle and calm your mind for a smooth transition. . ."

The liquid reached the upper parts of his chest, at that point he was already floating a bit as he couldn't feel his feet on the metal floor and he started to feel that light feeling that you would get when you're above water.

'Calm thoughts, Calm thoughts. Imagine you're not losing your life, trust the Government. . . CALM THOUGHTS!'

The more he tried thinking calm thoughts the more anxiety he got as the liquid reached his chin, even with all the words the nurse said Shun was still trying to keep his chin up to breathe air.

But that didn't last long as the Capsule quickly filled up leaving Shun in a floating position with his legs semi close together and his arms spread apart. He didn't want to lose the remaining air in his body as he held his breath.

'I-It doesn't hurt?'

Usually when Shun had his eyes open while he swam he would feel pain but there was nothing right now.

'M-Maybe it's not that bad'

Closing his eyes, Shun calmed himself but he quickly felt the sting in his chest from holding his breath so long.

'Ok. . . I can't do this forever! I'll actually die. . . calm. . . calm. . .mom. . . dad. . . 1. 2. 3!'

Letting go of the air and opening his mouth with the liquid quickly going in expelling all air in his body, he saw the big bubbles of air leave and go to the ceiling of the capsule.

The pain he expected to feel wasn't there. . . he felt normal.

Breathing in was normal breathing out was the same. It was like he wasn't even inhaling a weird green liquid.

But he did feel. . . that feeling the nurse was talking about.

It really felt like he was on a cloud. . . floating in the air with nothing stopping him from going to sleep.

'. . .I'm really. . . tired'

Feeling the effects of the liquid that seemed to have some sort of anesthesia effect, Shun slowly felt the tiredness take him over as the energy left his body and his body went limp in the liquid.

. . .

'I wonder. . . if Edens is going. . . to be a fun place. . .'

. . .

'I. . . wonder. . .'
