Chapter 2 The egg

—Morning—

You might be wondering why is there light in a cave that has a ceiling. Well the cave gets light up by all of these mystycal plants that produce light, the light gets brighter the further true out the day. So it acts as a working day and night cycle.

Gray: ‘’Good Morning Jet, Good Morning Murky, Yawn!’’

No response? Where have they gone?

As I stood up I looked for my clothes and put them on, this is my favorite set of clothing since it is really comfortable. While walking out of the room I noticed how quiet it is seeing that I overslept.

After looking around for a bit I couldn't find them anywhere.

?: ‘’Gray!’’

Where did that come from?

?: ‘’Gray!!’’

Gray: ‘’Where are you?’’

?: ‘’Taking a shower, join us?’’

Gray: ‘’Sure, I was planning on taking a shower anyway.’’

Gray: ‘’Ahhh, that's refreshing, a nice cold shower in the morning.’’

Obviously Jet is wagging his tail around, he always loves to take his showers

Jet: ‘’Waterfalls are the best, aren’t they?’’

Gray: ‘’Yes, they are the best.’’

Gray: ‘’So what are we going to do today?’’

Murky: ‘’Well we are full-on food, so I guess we could do some training, Ooh, and I will take care of the plants.’’

Gray: ‘’Sound good to me.’’

This kinda sums up our routine, one day we take care of getting food, and the other is like this taking care of ourselves.

Gray: ‘’I'm going out, I'll get ready for training.’’

You might ask why train in such a peaceful environment. Well, I just love the concepts of magic and zen, ever since I found out about it I wanted to learn it. I'm no good at it though, but I still try my hardest, I also haven’t awakened an element yet. I personally think that the wind route would be the most fun to awaken, that's probably because you could fly with it, I mean come on, that just sounds like so much fun.

–In this world the main source of power is zen, it's basically everywhere, in people and the environment. The zen is what we use to generate elements, like fire, water, earth, and many more. These elements can also ‘’evolve’’ a set of evolutions are called routes.

–Routes are a certain type of element that could evolve into a different element. If I were to awaken water it could later evolve into an ice or blood element. After evolving you can still use the element that was used before.

My grandpa also teaches me basic things about how you survive, fight and be a good person, you could say that he is a role model but once you see his stupid side you will think else wise.

Murky: ‘’Are you ready?’’

Suddenly hearing that I realized that I hadn’t finished cleaning up this mess in my room

Gray: ‘’Coming!!’’

While saying that I was coming I still wanted to finish cleaning up this mess so I did that and then put on my combat clothes. Then as I ran to the training ground.

Bamm!

Gray: ‘’What was that for? Why hit me with that pesky stick?

Murky: ‘’You’re too late.’’

While looking the other way I responded with a.

Gray: ‘’Well I can’t deny that.

Murky: ‘’What were you doing anyway?’’

Gray: ‘’Uhhh, nothing much.’’

What did I actually do at that time?

Gray: ‘’Well I cleaned up my mess of a room and…. well... I slept some more.. hehe.’

Murky: ‘’Of course you did, hahaha. Anyways now that you’re here let's get started.’’

Gray: ‘’What are we going to be doing today?’’

Murky: ‘’Meditation.’’

That was definitely the biggest smug face he has ever made towards me.

Gray: ‘’Come on old man! Why?!’’

Bamm!

‘’Ouch!’’

Murky: ‘’Make sure to respect this old man.’’

Gray: ‘’I do It's just that I don't like meditation.’’

Murky: ‘’Don't you wanna awaken your element?’’

Gray: ‘’Of course, I wanna awaken my element.’’

Murky: ‘’Well then if you have paid any attention to my lessons, you would know that the best way to increase your chance of awakening is to meditate.’’

While giving him a pout face.

Gray: ‘’I do know that but I just can’t sit still for that long and not do anything.’’

Murky: ‘’Ughh, now then what would you need to be able to concentrate easier?’’

Gray: ‘’I don't know, like a comfortable sitting space for starters.’’

Murky: ‘’I’ll get some fur and pillows, wait here.’’

Gray: ‘’Okay.’’

He normally wouldn't do that because it is against his way of meditating but perhaps he felt like if he gave me what I wanted to do, then this might go better than normally.

Murky: ‘’I’m back, here is a blanket to sit on and a pillow for your side or back.’’

Gray: ‘’Thank you, grandpa.’’

Murky: ‘’Okay enough of that let’s get started.’’

He was definitely blushing just now, oh my god, this is a rare sight.

Murky: ‘’Close your eyes, take deep breaths. Do you see the flashing colors?’’

Just giving him a simple nod should be fine since I can't talk while meditating.

Murky: ‘’Good. Now then I want you to imagine all of these colors compacting into a circle or sphere. ‘’Once you have that make sure to keep letting new colors in while letting no colors get out. Try your hardest to maintain this for as long as possible.’’

Seeing all these vivid colors coming into my vision gathering in this sphere of pure energy or zen, that’s what is happening, after all, I am letting all the natural zen flow into my body. If you were to look at me right now you would see all of these bulbs of light that are all different colors fly towards me.

—Afternoon—

What is this feeling on my head? As I broke out of my state of meditation.

Gray: ‘’Jet! Come here for cuddle time!’’

Jet: ‘’I thought you were dead, you sat here for 4+ hours at least, you have never meditated that long.’’

Gray: ‘’4+ hours? That has to be a personal record.’’

Gray: ‘’Where is grandpa?’’

Murky: ‘’He went off to gather some herbs.’’

Gray: ‘’Oh okay.’’

He normally doesn’t go and collect herbs alone, he must have not wanted to wake me up from meditating.

Gray: ‘’Well anyways I am going to make some food, I am starving. Are you hungry jet?’’

Jet: ‘’I sure am, I’ll even help you.’’

He gave me that proud and happily fulfilled smile.

Gray: ‘’Well, let's check the trap.’’

Jet: ‘’OOH, that looks really yummy.’’

I didn’t know that Jet could drool that much.

Gray: ‘’We got lucky today, a nice big mabeast, It’s a Kongo so it has lots of meat.’’

–A Kongo is a mabeast that looks like an ape type of creature, It is big and aggressive.

Gray: ‘’I'll finish it off.’’

Stab!

?: ‘’I’m back!’’

Did I just hear a voice?

Ooh, grandpa is back, he just walked out of the jungle-like it's nothing. Scary.

Murky: ‘’I found lots of herbs, and this egg that probably fell out of his nest, It looks like a Kongo egg.’’

As I heard grandpa say that I realized that that egg was most likely from the Kongo we just caught.

Gray: ‘’Grandpa.’’

Murky: ‘’Yes?’’

Gray: ‘’I think that we just caught his parents.’’

he fell silent.

Murky: ‘’These things can happen, there is nothing we can do about it, every time we catch a beast, it could be a parent, every time we kill a mabeast, we kill off someone’s parent. Remember that! What we do is selfish we destroy the lives of the beast that reside here just to survive.’’

His speech made me feel sad and disgusted with myself, but it's the hard truth.

Jet: ‘’Well we can at least take care of the baby Kongo like you took care of me, right?

Gray: ‘’THAT IS SUCH A GOOD IDEA!’’

Jet: ‘’I KNOW RIGHT!’’

Gray: ‘’I would love to, can we grandpa?’’

He must say yes, that was my sweetest smile I could make, if this didn’t work then I don't know what would.

Murky: ‘’Uhhh I guess we can…’’

Gray: ‘’YAY’

Murky: ’‘Let me finish my sentence.’’

Gray: ‘’Hehe, got a little excited.’’

Murky: ‘’As I was going to say. We can but, it is your responsibility.’’

Gray: ‘’Yes I will take care of him!’’

That made me feel a little better. It kind of took away the sad feeling of killing his parents. That sounds really messed up now that I say that to myself.

After a bit of time, we took care of fileting the big Kongo and froze it up. I didn’t want to eat it because it is the parent of the egg Kongo, but on the other side, it wouldn’t feel right if we killed it just to not eat it, so we ended up eating it in a way of respect towards it.

I made a comfortable sitting space in the corner of my room for the egg to sit. He will be warm here.

Gray: ‘’Goodnight Jet and Grandpa.’’

Murky: ‘’Goodnight.’’

He basically shouts that every night seeing how he is sleeping on the other side of the treehouse. No reaction from Jet tho, though he is probably asleep.

—Morning—

Gray: ‘’Yawn!’’

That was a really nice nap.

Ooh, I should check if the Kongo egg has made any progress on hatching.

Gray: ‘’Hmmmm.’’

Everything seems alright, no visual progress, I'll check again later tonight.

Gray: ‘’Good Morning!’’

‘’...’’

No response? They might still be asleep or they are up earlier than me again. As I walked down my room I noticed a delicious smell coming from the dining room.

Gray: ‘’That smells amazing guys!’’

Jet: ‘’I nyow wright my cyooking is amazwing.’’

He definitely didn't help.

Murky: ‘’You didn’t even help you were just laying down on the table eating away at the food.’’

Jet was trying his hardest to make a mocking face but he couldn’t, seeing how his mouth was full of food. That explains his way of talking just now.

Murky: ‘’Well eat up Gray, I made lots of food.’’

Gray: ‘’That tasted amazing.’’

Murky: ‘’I can see that you liked it since we got no leftovers at all.’’

Jet: ‘’It sure is peaceful living here.’’

Jet is looking really satisfied, I love it.

Murky: ‘’It is, but not all the time.’’

Gray: ‘’Grandpa, have you ever gone outside of the cave?’’

Murky: ‘’I have but there was no point in it.’’

He looks sad while saying that.

Gray: ‘’What do you mean?’’

Murky: ‘’Let's just say, in comparison with the outside world we are very fortunate with the place where we live.’’

Gray: ‘’Gulp’’

Understanding that he felt as disappointed about it as much as I did, I responded with a simple

Gray: ‘’I understand.’’

Then we all had to clean up the place, it would have taken like half of the time if Jet didn’t make such a mess.

I’ll probably train some more. Why not?

I put on my combat clothes and went to the training grounds just to see Grandpa already waiting for me.

Gray: ‘’How did you know that I was going to train?’’

He was spying on me, right? How would he know?

Murky: ‘’Ho ho, if you don’t know the answer to that then you still have much to learn.’’

Gray: ‘’Meaning?’’

Murky: ‘’You don’t pay attention to your surroundings, if you were in the jungle and this were to happen you would be dead.’’

Gray: ‘’But I wasn’t. It's save up here, that's why we live in a treehouse, is it not?’’

Murky: ‘’Yes this treehouse was built in order to be safe from the mabeasts but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn't pay attention, it's the best for your own safety.’’

Gray: ‘’I consider that to be pointless and exhausting.’’

I am clearly in the right so he should just admit it.

Murky: ‘’Aren’t I the one teaching you here, if you don't even get the point of this then why should I even bother.’’

Gray: ‘’That's right, why even bother?! I’m out’’

I jumped down to the ground and walked away.

Murky: ‘’What do you think you are doing? Going out with no protection and wearing those clothes. Come back here right now!’’

Continuing walking forward I couldn't help but distract all my thoughts and think about the beautiful stars. Why now?

I continued walking away going further into the forest. Why didn’t he stop me?

Brrrrrrrrrrr!

Gray: ‘’Oh no.’’

Seeing the floor crack open right before you is some scary stuff. It’s happening again.

As the floor was cracking open right before me I tried to dodge the cracks so that I wouldn't fall in, I ran as fast away as I possibly could but…
