Chapter 01 - The stars

Chapter 1 The stars

In the year 320, there was a world full of magic called zen and different races like Humans, elves, dwarves, and many more. These races are the foundation of the world who all lived together in peace until a war broke out between the gods. Because of their great power, the gods destroyed the world of the living. After the war ended a small percentage of the world survived. The world was different from before. All living beings were affected and mutated. Only a few people didn't lose their senses and remained the same...

The War ended in the year 345 it lasted 25 years

The story starts in the year 532 (187 years after the war had ended)

The Story starts with a boy named Gray who lives with his grandfather and best friend, Jet a black baby dragon.

They live in a big treehouse underground in a biome called Leapia. That's what Gray calls it at least... It's huge and full of delicious zen fruits and mysterious creatures. Called Mabeasts. They have been living here peacefully.

They get food by a trap that was specifically designed to capture mabeasts. It is quite clever how they have made this. First, they lift the cage with a rope and lock it. Then they put these herbs called aska herbs in the trap. These herbs attract the mabeasts but if they smell too much of them they pass out. Once a mabeasts gets under the cage, Gray unlocks the rope so that the cage falls. After a couple of seconds, they pass out and are ready to be killed and fileted.

‘’Finally’’ that took ages. I never liked the killing part, well it's not like I have much of a choice we have to get food one way or another.

As I took my blade and pierced it into the skull of the mabeast I couldn't help but feel bad about killing it off.

I proceeded to filet the mabeast and take out the meat. It's a disgusting process.

At Least we got lucky with this mabeast. It has so much meat. Normally mabeast meat would expire in a day but since my grandpa has made a cabinet that perserves the meat it doesn't expire.

Next up I should grill the food.

Gray: ‘’We are going to eat late today grandpa!’’

Murky: ‘’No worries kiddo I'm not that hungry.’’

While scratching the back of my head I thought. I am hungry though.

Gray: ‘’Jet, where are you? I haven't seen you all day’’

Bonds are really the best for times like these when we are separated.

We can talk whenever we please. Jet can also communicate with grandpa since he has a sort of bond with Jet where it just allows you to talk with each other.

Jet: ‘’Ughh, Why did you wake me up, I'm laying on the roof.’’

Gray: ‘’What roof?’’

Jet: ‘’What do you think dummy, we only have one roof.’’

Gray: ‘’No actually we have 2 roofs, the roof of our treehouse and the roof of our storage.’’

Jet: ‘’Well I'm on the roof of the treehouse obviously.’’

He always acts like that when he wakes up, all grumpy and quickly annoyed.

The campfire is already on? Must have been Grandpa. Well then I only have to go and get the meat, this saves me some time for later to admire the mural that the people who used to reside in this cave have made.

As i was going over to the cabinet to take out some meat, there was this loud sound.

Brrrrrrrrrrr!

Is that a rumbling sound? I quickly went over to the campfire, but grandpa isn't there. This is making me anxious.

Gray: ‘’Grandpa, where are you!!’’

Murky: ‘’Relax kiddo, I was out to take a leak.’’

Gray: ‘’Oh, thank god you are safe, did you hear that sound just now?’’

Murky: ‘’Of course I did.’’

Gray: ‘’What was it?’’

Must have been an earthquake.

Murky: ‘‘Oh that was a sound caused by a fermon.’’

Gray: ‘’A fermon? What's that?’’

Murky: ‘’A fermon is a gigantic worm-like mabeast with huge claws and extremely good senses that resides underground.’’

Gray: ‘’Cool, Wait, no is this going to be a problem for us?’’

Murky: ‘’If we leave them alone it won't be a problem.’’

There was no sign of him getting panicked by the fact that the ground just rumbled.

Gray: As curious as I am I couldn't help but ask ‘’What if we don’t leave them alone?’’

Murky: ‘’Then you are as good as dead.’’

Gray: ‘’Oh they are that strong. Are you strong enough to beat them?’’

Murky: ‘’In my prime, I would but not as I am now, I'm too old for that stuff.’’

He probably wished that he still could, seeing how he looked disappointed in himself.

My stomach growled

Gray: ‘’Well enough about that we should get the meat on the grill, I'm starving.’’

Murky: ‘’I'm still not hungry’’

Him making that annoying tee-hee face started giving me a real headache.

Gray: ‘’Hahahaha’’

I used my most serious voice and said

Gray: ‘’please never make that face again.’’

—---later—---

Gray: ‘’Finally the meat is done, I'm starving.’’

I lent towards the meat and tried grabbing the biggest and nicest peace.

Whoosh!

Before I knew it the big piece of meat was gone.

Gray: ‘’Who took it.’’

I looked at grandpa. Of course, he took it

Gray: ‘’Why did you take it? You weren't even hungry.’’

All he did was make that same tee-hee face again. Jet started laughing and gave my grandpa a fist bump.

Gray: ‘’Real funny guys’’

Murky: ‘’Someone is on their period’’

He started laughing, just to annoy me even more.

Gray: ‘’That doesn't even make sense I'm a guy, you crazy old man.’’

After having a nice and tasty dinner I cleaned up and started walking over to the mural. It's located in a small cave not too far from our treehouse.

As I was walking to the cave I noticed a crow staring at me.

That’s odd, you never see crows around here.

—---—---

Gray: ‘’Ah here I am’’

looking up at the ceiling of the cave where the mural was drawn on. This sight is truly wonderful. It never ceases to amaze me how beautiful these drawn stars are.

I wish I could go and see them with my own eyes sometime. Although I could never do so.

Why did the world have to become like this?

Why couldn't it just have stayed the way before?

At Least in the story’s that grandpa used to tell me he said that the world used to be beautiful.

Maybe the event that led to the destruction of our world was fated to happen, maybe it was for the greater good, I don't know, no one knows except the gods themselves, if I could say something to them it would be something like:

Well, I don't know what I would say, to be honest, it's not like I could ever speak to them.

The outside world must be beautiful. It's what I want to believe. I want to go there, better said, I wish I could go to the outside world sometime.

While gazing at these stars I slowly started to fade away and go to sleep.

Brrrrrrrrrrr!

Gray: ‘’AH!’’ There it is again.

Rocks were falling, I gotta get out of this cave quickly!

While running out of the cave I saw boulders falling from the ceiling of the cave.

Gray: ‘’Grandpa! Jet!! Where are you guys?!’’

As I walked out of the cave I saw my grandpa walk this way towards me with Jet on his shoulder.

Murky: ‘’Hey kiddo where have you been?’’

Splatt!

Gray: ‘’AHH!, Huh?!’’

I'm still in the cave? I'm still in the cave? What just happened?

Was I dreaming? Grandpa, Jet. I have to go and see them and confirm that they are still alive.

Immediately I stood up and went over to the treehouse. As I walked over there I saw grandpa watering the plants on the terrace.

Gray: ‘’Thank God’’

Gray: ‘’Jet are you there? Jet are you there!?’’

Jet: ‘’Come on man two times in a row you wake me up while I'm sleeping.’’

Gray: ‘’Thank god you're still alive’’

I felt so relieved that that was just a dream.

Jet: ‘’Of course, i'm still alive’’
