Godric slowly walked down the dimly lit cave passage. His movements were slow and it was visible that he was limping. The dirty brown robe he wore on him was aged and covered in dust, clearly it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. He had no shoes, and the soles of his feet were dusty and covered in scabs, but Godric seemed oblivious to the pain as he walked on through the rocky passage.
The passage appeared ancient and worn, but was sturdy beyond measure, as if it was sculpted in a hurry by a being of unimaginable power. Intricate engravings lined the caves walls, which created a story that developed the further one went inside.
Godric turned his head to stare at the engravings upon the wall, his lips rising into a smirk. His long, whitening, black hair was unruly and full of dirt. His face was covered in dirt and dust, proving he himself had also not showered or cared for his own being in a very long time. Accompanying his black hair, was a humongous black beard travelled from his chin down to his hips. His eyes were a beautiful black colour, but the further one looked into them, the more one would feel themselves losing their minds. A terrifying emptiness was visible in those pitch black eyes of his.
Godric slowly moved his left palm to touch the engravings on the wall as he began to laugh bitterly "Dozens of years have passed since you passed from this world my old friend, Alaric" his aged voice echoed out, tinged with an immense amount of remorse in his voice. Godric stopped walking as his hand stopped upon the engraving of an old looking man, standing before a large pool of water.
Godric sighed as he moved his hand away and continued his slow and arduos trek through the passage. He passed more and more engravings, which continued the story, of an old man who slowly walked into the pool of water, only to emerge from the other side as a young man, and just like that, Godric reached the end of the passage, and before him stood a large pool, which was lit up by a small hole in the ceiling. As if this location was a place of created and guarded by heaven itself.
Godric knelt down besides the edge of the pool as he began to bitterly cry. His tears cleaned his dirty face to show that beneath it was a handsome looking middle aged man, who even past his prime, was still a sight for sore eyes. Godric thought about his past, about how he had lived the last few decades of his life in constant mourning, constant pain.
Ever since that fateful day, decades ago where he saw Alaric murdered before his eyes, he had changed. From being a bright and full of life youth, to a cold, bitter and dark man. Godric had known the murder was going to happen, he could have stopped it, but his mother, as well as the King were the one behind it. He had to choose between friendship or family and royalty, and he had forever regretted his decision.
A mere 17 year old youth was given such a hard choice, and Godric would have chosen his beloved best friend, but when faced with his mother and sisters tears, he had caved in like a coward. He had never loved a women after that day, after seeing his mother and sisters laugh happily with the death of Alaric. He would never believe in anothers tears ever again.

Upon seeing Alaric on his deathbed, Godric knew he had chosen wrong, but what made the choice even more unbearable was Alarics final words in this world, and the words that would forever haunt him for his years to come.
"Be at peace my brother, for we shall see eachother once again, and when we do meet, I will welcome you with open arms, for we are brothers closer than blood, and my love for you is infinite"
As Godric held the dying Alaric within his arms, Alaric had barely managed to squeeze out those words with his dying breath, and all around him, Godric could only hear the sound of cheering and bloodshed. All of Alaric and Godrics closest comrades were being slain, and only he himself was spared, because his mother loved him, as did the king. It drove Godric wild as he thought about it.
Those words forever echoed within Godrics mind, slowly driving him to the point of insanity and madness. Godric had never forgiven his family or the royal family, and had managed to get his revenge.
Godric had killed them all, he had done so by raising the largest army the world had ever known, and leading the ten million strong army upon the capital of Cedonia, sacking it and killing both his family and the Royalty, but even then, the guilt he had couldn't be erased.
If only he had managed to man up, to gather his courage and escape with Alaric, if only he hadn't been a coward and thought about himself. If only he had stayed together with Alaric and died with him like a loyal friend.
Even after the sacking and destruction of the country that killed his closest friend, he had only further driven himself into the steep pit of madness and insanity. He had killed every single remaining person whom he he had once called family or friend, because everyone who he had actually cared about, was loyal to Alaric and had died on that fateful day.
Every passing day drove Godric closer to the edge, and he had prepared to end his own life after Azora was sacked and conquered, but he had discovered a clue, a tiny hint that could allow him to bring back the past, to bring back what he had lost, so Godric devoted his entire being to finding whether this hint existed or not.
A billion gold coins, a hundred treasures of unimaginable value, and the dozen countries Godric had conquered is what he gave away to find this clue, and he had finally done so. A couple dozen years and a worlds worth of wealth had delivered him the way to finally ease his guilt.
The Gods Tear. He had finally found it. He finally stood before it. He could finally bow down and apologise to Alaric. He could finally beg for forgiveness. He could finally move on. So that is what Godric did.
He slowly walked into the waters of the pool, first his feet, then his hips, followed by his torso and finally his head. He was fully submerged but breathing wasn't important to him anymore, so he walked deeper into the pool, until he finally reached both the centre and the bottom of the pool.
And just like that, Godric finally saw what his cowardice had cost the world.
