Prologue

Before you start, I started writing this with intention of making it a dark-fantasy VR fiction, however in my opinion I failed miserably at this (at least in the beggining) so I would like to apologise to all of you for this. There will be changes in writing style and the feeling received from time to time as I wrote first chapters on a whim, without actual draft of the story beforehand.

Enjoy! xD

Prologue

- The people are stupid... - said Sebastian while shaking his head in disbelief.

It has been ten years since creating VRCM – standing for Virtual Reality Conveying Mashines – and two since release of 'Rising' – the 'Greatest, most addicting and exciting creation which has ever existed', as it's creators – the company called N.O.V.A. Corporation – boldly described in an interview. At first, the public ridiculed them for this – as existing VR games, even through they seemed very promising at first, only dissapointed every honorable gamer in the same way. It was not reality.

During 8 years VR gaming situation looked really dire, and analytics foretold that with current technology it will be impossible to archeve 'what gaming community desires'. And everyone believed them.

That is, until revelation of Rising.

The N.O.V.A. Corp. promised that their product is 'The Masterpiece and Pinnacle of VR technology', which in turn piqued the interest, altrough only a little. After all, the seed was already sown and continous betrayal of expetations tuned people down by a very large margin.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

However, the very little amount on people that gave Rising a chance weren't failed. It's safe to say, that they received everything they expected and even more to that! The masses, altrought relucant at start, were quickly persuaded by the ones who gave the game chance.

And so, that's the general story of progress on Virtual Reality.

As Sebastian walked trought the streets all he heard was something conerning Rising. People were captivated by the 'new reality' as many described it.

And there were no lies in that.

Sebastian continued his walk without paying attention to things that passers-by were speaking. After all, since he couldn't afford the Virtual Reality Gear – called VRG in short - he didn't care about the thing at all. It was kind of a policy of his.

- Don't care about what you can't afford, and you won't be dissapointed – thought Sebastian, while envying people he passed. They were happy. After a while Sebastian sighed and picked up the pace. He didn't want to be late.

Not today.
