Chapter 2: Brave the new World
- Well then, are you ready? - asked Clare.
They just finished making their preparations for first dive to VR in their life. After all, they spend whole Friday evening and night to find every bit of information which could be useful for them at low level. However, much to their suprise, they couldn't find anything game-related beside some footages and interviews made in-game along with some overall information about how game functions. There were no guides or starting tips however they looked. After tho hours of searching for that they decided to stop and checked information about their well-being in real world after they started playing.
And so the rest of Friday passed by when they finally woke up and prepared for this day.
-I can't be more ready after all we looked trought, right? Altrought... I still can't believe that there existed something as amazing as change in time between reality and game in ratio of 1:10. Isn't it going overboard?
- Not at all. All of this was made to let casual players experience the game more, wasn't it?
- Yeah, right. Thankfully that also means we have an edge over them.
- Right~~ And the leftover money from lottery will be enough for yearly subscription for both of us and bills for 2 years – said Clare cheerfully.
- Hey you didn't mention it before!
- You didn't ask, so I decided to assure you that it's all planned and that we have over year to become somewhat decent.
- A-anyway, let's not waste more time now – said Sebastian embarrassed for his lack of faith in Clare.
- Aw yeah! Oh, before I forget: let's not start in the same city, all right? We will meet each other later, but I want to start on my own. And knowing you you'd try to protect me at all cost or something like that...
- Isn't that the duty of an older brother?
- …
- All right, all right. Just don't come begging me to help you on your second day!
- Bet on it!
After that both of them went to their rooms. Sebastian immediately layed down on his bed, put on VRG and powered it up. Before him showed a message:
Do you want to become a Rising Star?YesNo
- Yes – said Sebastian with confidence.
After that the his room started to blur and darken. After 2 seconds it was completely dark.
- Starting up initialization sequence...
…
…
…
…
- Your iris scan shows that you're an unregistered user. Do you want to create an accound? - Sebastian heard a mechanical female voice in his ears. Without a moment to waste he answered.
- Yes.
- Select name of your avatar.
'Hmm, a hard choice. I've never been good at making names... what to do...' wondered Sebastian. Then he remembered a certain name which he used for a game he spend little time on. As it was his first time playing computer game, he remembered it well.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
- Neriehem – spoke Sebastian. He liked the name, it had a nice sound to it. Also it was compeltely original. He came up with it accidently, but he wasn't the kind of a person to discard sudden creativity surge.
- There is a total of 28 playable races. Select one to your liking.
After that before him appeared a round stone piedestal with 28 characters standing on it.
- To switch between race simply press the arrow key to your side.
Sebastian was confused by amount of available races. In the end he chose one that he felt suited him. It was the race called an 'Asyrian' - half-elf and half-drake.
- I want to be Asyrian.
- Are you sure? The choice can't be reverted later on.
- Yes.
- Now you can customise your character.
Suddenly light enveloped Sebastian and piedestal shrunk, while mirrors appeared around him.
- To change your look simply say so aloud, for example: 'Change hair colour to white'. After you're done simply say: 'Complete customisation'.
- All right, thank you – said Sebastian, thankful for guidance. He could not know that it was simply AI programmed to take players trought character creation, as he had close to no experience with games before.

After a while Sebastian let out a sigh. Finally his avatar... no, his body was shaped the way he wanted. He had atlethic body with visible lines of muscules under dark-blue scales. But not every part of the body was covered with them. On his face they took up a portion of his cheeks, while underfeet and insides of hands were free of them. Parts without the scales were made into slightly tanned skin colour, and his hair was very long, as it reached his knees, and dark red in colour. As an addition his eyes also were dark red with vertical pupil like cat's or snake's. He also had slender face, which was more feminime. But that was also kind of face he had in real world, so truth to be told he didn't bother changing it at all. Satisfied with his looks, he said:
- Complete customisation.
- Right now you will be placed in the city of begginers. You shall spend there a period of 40 days before you are given a class of your own and the right to explore to your heart's content. Good luck!
With that Sebastian... no, Neriehem, was engulfed in a blue flame and before he knew it he was standing in the center of looked like a temple.
-All right, time to brave this new world!
